I personally also have come to like structured logging (as parsable json or key-value pairs). You can output to stdout, and then other system tools can feed it an elk stack or similar. This is great for insights on a production system. Maybe one day tendermint will be a self-maintaining, self-healing, self-debugging system. But we are still far from there.
