With specialist timepieces, authentication and due diligence cannot simply be treated as administrative steps, so understanding how they fit into the wider process has been useful. One thing I’ve become more conscious of is how much the auction calendar drives the workflow. A consignment may arrive well before the sale, but the work still has to move through the right stages before catalogue preparation and viewing. That has given us a better basis for thinking about capacity and timing. The project is ongoing, but Tecnomatix has helped us look at the route from consignment to auction as one connected process rather than a collection of separate tasks.
