I appreciate that it's encrypted, which is important for storing documents and videos of my projects. I find it incredibly convenient that I can access it through my phone or laptop anytime, anywhere. The customer service is reasonable and they're always happy to assist. Also, the initial setup was very simple. **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** Maybe better connection with the phone if I want to switch from Apple iCloud to Sync Pro. I think they can take a look at that. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Sync Pro to store documents and videos, enabling access anywhere, anytime. It's easy to use, reasonably priced, and encrypted. Customer service is reliable and eager to assist. ### 2. They need to communicate their updates better, as users are on different OS versions, which has caused issues for older users who didn't realise the update wasn't for them. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** You can see that they are actively working on making their app, the interface and offering work better, faster and keep up with evolving OS and platform updates. ### 3. I'm also frustrated with customer service because I was charged one day after my trial ended, and they refused to refund the charges. Switching to Sync.com from Dropbox was difficult. Misleading Trial Experience, No Integrations, No Flexibility I signed up for Sync.com expecting a competitive alternative to Dropbox or Box. What I got was an outdated product with modern pricing and zero flexibility. There are no native integrations with the tools businesses actually use today. No CRM integrations, no automation support, no meaningful ecosystem. Yet pricing is on par with Dropbox, Box, and other platforms that actually invest in integrations and workflows. The bigger issue is billing ethics. I was charged one day after the trial ended, immediately reached out, and was told a refund was not possible. No grace period. No consideration. Just a hard no. For a company positioning itself as business-ready, this is a poor look. If you are confident in your product, you should not need to rely on rigid trial cutoffs and refusal to refund a brand-new charge. If you need integrations, automation, or reasonable customer treatment, look elsewhere. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Sync.com for syncing with Synology, but it has very limited integrations despite claiming unlimited support. ### 4. The support was slow and absolutely unhelpful. I have a paid plan and accidentally noticed that about 50 of my files disappeared from the storage without any notice. According to their own logs, my files should be still in storage but they are obviously not. I checked their servers' status page, and no downs or errors were mentioned there. I contacted their support and provided all the needed information for the investigation and only after 7 weeks of communication by email, they just say that the files can't be restored and that is not the kind of user experience they want to provide. And that is all! No excuses, no explanation, no any kind of compensation or refund. They present themselves as reliable cloud file storage, but they can't do the only thing that you want them to do. I hardly can imagine such a situation with even old-style website hosting providers. Don't trust this service! In laymans terms, only the person who knows the password can access the files in the cloud. No one else has access to view the files, no third party, no hacker (in the event your account gets hacked, which is very unlikely) and not even Sync.com. If anyone breaks into or accesses your account, they will only see giberish as all your files are encrypted, and they can only be decrypted with your password which is only available to you and no one else. Privacy is the key word when talking about Sync.com, or any other service which uses zero-knowledge encryption **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** While the service offers top notch privacy and security, one drawback is that it's a little pricey if you want to store more than 5GB. Google Drive and other cloud services offer a lot more storage for free, but the extra feature of zero-knowledge encryption is worth it in my opinion. Another thing which may be seen as a drawback is the fact that the service is not as fast as other cloud services, because the extra layer of encryption make it somewhat slower to encrypt / decrypt data on every use. But again, you get extra protection and privacy for slower speeds. Also, you need to store your password in a very safe and secure environment as that is the only way you can decrypt (access) you data **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** If you want a secure and private cloud service where only you can access the documents then Sync.com is the way to go. You get 5GB for free and you can upgrade the storage as much as you want for a certain price. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sync.com is a great service for storing highly important documents. Every service is hackable, be it cloud service, mail service and so on. While most websites are very secure, users need to trust the third party to keep their data safe. Zero-knowledge encryption is a trustless system where users know their data is safe, secure and encrypted and only they have access to it. I have been using sync.com to store highly important and personal documents knowing they will be safe, secure and available only to me. ### 9. If my memory serves me right I think I first heard about Sync.com in 2015. At first, I did not think Sync.com was such a big thing. It was only after I realized Encryption and its importance that I realized how good Sync.com is. Since then I've kept all the very important bank information and most important things related to our Business Website at Sync.com. **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** To be honest, Sync.com's mobile application is not enough. Sometimes Automatic Backup does not work at all. Not enough Desktop Syncing is very slow. Probably because Sync encrypts all the files. In any case, they should pay more attention to their mobile application. **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** If online privacy is a serious concern for your business, you should use Sync and I'm sure you will love it. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** Even though we are a small team we have a lot of important things to keep as documents about the business. We do not think it's safe to store it on a hard drive. We were not content to simply store such important files in any online cloud storage. So I decided to put it in Sync. It's designed to keep data safe from hackers. It encrypts your file with a cipher which no one can unlock. It is basically built around for security purpose. It sometimes makes hard for us to sync including the 3rd party like google. It is less useful as a team collaboration. Drag and drop can't be done in it. In order to choose and a file and move we have go through a menu. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** It would say atleast they can introduce drag and drop feature and benefits as I already mentioned it guarantees full security of data what I most like about it is it has 2 factor verification process. There is version history in case a file is written over, I can go back and restore a previous file. I like how links can be password protected and you can specify who has access to what folder. **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** I do not like how two people can work on one file at the same time and it creates two different versions (vs. collaborating in real time or locking the other person out until finished). This creates the headache of trying to figure out what changes were made on what document. **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** It's a great tool for the price compared to the other file storage tools with all the bells and whistles. It has a very simple interface, it is easy to use, Sync.com, it creates a folder on the device, everything that the user places in that folder is automatically stored in the cloud. You can also invite other people as collaborators, authorizing their access to the information in a very simple way, you just have to send them a link through an email, this link will allow you to see the information. You will not be able to edit it by any means. It also allows backup of information, which will not be synchronized, this function is very useful to free space in your local system, backup copies, among others. On the other hand, Sync.com, has an end-to-end encryption, which strengthens the security of information against possible attacks by people outside the company. The system can be configured, to control access to information, also keeps a record of people who have consulted or modified the data. As such it does not have a desktop interface, but the web interface is very fast and can be used to move files. It has a function called "vault" that allows you to copy files without existing in the computer, very useful. **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** I'm very sad because Sync.com does not have support for Linux and our larger servers are under the platform of this operating system. **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** The price of Sync.com is solid and the storage is AES-256 bit encrypted and directed through secure TLS tunnels. It has a great starter plan and is easy to use. Sync.com wants me to get them to send javascript error logs...clients are so frustrated now, i don't want to push them. i re-uploaded from my own backups to DropBox and sent them links which work perfectly. i am also finding that DropBox uploads MUCH faster! It was taking up to 15 minutes to upload a 120 meg file to Sync, less than 3 minutes with DropBox. And a HUGE plus: DropBox will tell you who you have shared a file/folder with...a great help when you have dozens of clients and you get interrupted by a phone call while sharing a file to all of them.... **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** Go with DropBox **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION. Easy to use for both syncing and vault storage; cheaper than other services (such as Dropbox) yet works as well; fully encrypted file transfer, plus it's in Canada (so not subject to USA Patriot Act); helpful email support. **What do you dislike about Sync.com?** While the email support is responsive, they only work weekdays 8-4, so if you have a problem at other times, you have to wait for assistance. **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** As with standard (not business version) Dropbox, this is a syncing system, so it doesn't work well if people need to be using the same files simultaneously, but we typically don't, so there's no problem for us there. Sync is an excellent solution if you're caught between the miserly 2 GB free of Dropbox and the 1 TB minimum paid. **What problems is Sync.com solving and how is that benefiting you?** When Barracuda shut down Copy.com, where our company had all of our files, we had to find a replacement. First we tried Google Drive because it offered 15 GB free, compared to 5 or less for everyone else, but it was quickly found to be a disaster. We did small tests with JottaCloud, but it seemed half-baked. Then we found Sync, and found it to be as good as Copy.com and Dropbox. (We used Dropbox before Copy, but its 2 GB free limit and high minimum of 1 TB for paid was not suitable.) Sync works just like them, such that all of our office staff (who are located in different states) can access all the files, and changes will sync quickly. Rarely is there a file conflict issue from simultaneous usage or because someone's computer didn't sync. In addition to the Dropbox-style file syncing, Sync.com also offers a Storage Vault, where you can put files into storage so that they will not be susceptible to mistaken changes and syncing. This is easy to do -- to put them in or take them out. Our company's files are about 10 GB, so we exceeded the free version. However, the paid tier we have is for 500 GB, which is for the combined space of the syncing and vault files, at only $49 a year, compared to most other services running at $10 per month (for 1 TB, their minimum) -- perhaps even $10 per month per user. That's another thing -- Sync confirmed that only one person has to pay for our files. I am the chief administrator, and I pay the $49; the others just access the shared folders as needed, and the storage they keep on their computers of my shared folders doesn't count against their free 5 GB. We have been completely pleased with Sync. ### 39. Just what I needed and it seems crazy that competitors don't have a similar function. Desktop App works well. File transfers are fast. Based in Canada, so my data stays where I live. None of the other apps I use integrate with Sync. The Desktop app does not integrate as seamlessly as Dropbox or Google Drive - for example there is no custom finder icon for my Sync folder. **Recommendations to others considering Sync.com:** If you are looking for an affordable alternative to the established Cloud Storage players, look no further than Sync.com. Sync does both of these things for me, and works fast, in the background. I also have an SSD drive in my laptop which means limited storage space, so I don't want all of the files on Sync to also be on my hard drive.
