One of the features we value most about Synap is that it does not require learners to install any additional software. Many of our learners access assessments using workplace-managed devices, where software installations are often restricted by their IT departments. Being able to access Synap directly through a browser removes a significant potential barrier and makes the assessment experience much more accessible.
The assessment setup process is also very straightforward and intuitive. The platform is easy to navigate, and configuring assessments is generally simple to understand without unnecessary complexity.
The documentation is another strong point. It provides a good level of useful and practical information, which makes it easier to understand the platform’s functionality and resolve questions independently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is nothing in particular that we currently dislike about Synap. However, one area that would significantly strengthen the platform would be the introduction of integrated plagiarism and AI-generated content detection, particularly for free-text and submission-based assessments.
Having this capability built into the assessment workflow would provide additional assurance around academic integrity and make the overall assessment process more robust. It would also support markers and tutors by giving them additional evidence when reviewing submissions, helping them identify content that may require closer scrutiny rather than relying solely on manual judgement.
For organisations delivering regulated or higher-stakes assessments, this would be a particularly valuable addition to the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
