"Making Contract Management More Structured, Visible and Efficient"

What do you like best about Summize?

What I like most about Summize is that it brings the entire contract lifecycle into one structured, accessible environment. It gives us much better visibility across our contracts, including their status, key obligations, renewal and expiry dates, approvals, and the stakeholders responsible.

The integration with Word and Outlook is especially valuable because it lets the legal team and the wider business keep working in tools they already use every day, rather than having to change their whole way of working.

I also appreciate the combination of contract management, workflow automation, and AI-assisted review. It supports the initial review of contracts by helping to identify key clauses and risks, and it generally makes it easier to organise and prioritise legal work. The ability to set up structured approval processes and maintain a central contract repository is also very useful from a governance and compliance perspective.

Overall, Summize has helped us move toward a more structured and transparent contract management process. It has reduced some of the administrative work around contracts and given the legal team better oversight of what’s happening across the business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Summize?

One of the main areas I would like to see improved is the Clause Summary Manager. It is a useful concept, but it could be significantly more flexible and easier to manage, particularly when building and maintaining clause summaries for different contract types. More customisation and better control over how clauses are categorised, summarised and presented would make it much more valuable for our day-to-day contract reviews.

Another important limitation is the language functionality within the Clause Summary Manager and its application to contracts stored in the repository. As an international business, our repository contains contracts in different languages. It would be very useful if the Clause Summary Manager could support different languages more effectively, so that the relevant clause summaries can be applied to and generated from repository contracts in their respective languages. This would allow us to use the same structured contract-management approach across our international agreements, rather than having the effectiveness of the clause summaries depend on the language of the underlying contract.

The licensing structure can also be restrictive. The distinction between Requestor and Collaborator licences sometimes creates practical difficulties, particularly when colleagues need to become more involved in a contract temporarily, for example to review, comment, approve or cover for another colleague during an absence. Greater flexibility to move users between these roles, or a more flexible permission model that is not so closely tied to licence type, would make the platform much easier to manage.

Overall, I think Summize has a strong foundation, but improving the Clause Summary Manager, multilingual capabilities and flexibility between Requestor and Collaborator users would make the platform much better suited to an international organisation with different teams and changing levels of involvement in the contract lifecycle. What problems is Summize solving and how is that benefiting you?

Summize is helping us centralise and structure our contract management process, giving the legal team and the wider business much better visibility over contracts, their status, key dates, obligations and responsible stakeholders.

One of the main benefits is reducing the dependency on Legal for every administrative step. Through the Requestor functionality and structured workflows, business colleagues can initiate contract requests and provide the required information directly, while Legal retains oversight and becomes involved where legal review or negotiation is actually required.

The central repository is also valuable because it creates a single source for our contractual documents and makes it easier to track renewals, expiries and other important contractual information rather than relying on individual emails, folders or manual follow-ups.

Summize also helps us standardise the contracting process through questionnaires, approval workflows, templates and clause summaries. This is particularly useful for ensuring that contracts follow a consistent internal process and that the relevant commercial and legal stakeholders are involved at the appropriate stage.

Overall, the main benefit for us is better governance, visibility and accountability across the contract lifecycle, while reducing administrative workload for Legal and allowing us to focus more time on substantive legal and commercial matters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
