What do you like best about Spiro?

As an accounting compliance manager, the platform’s automatic call and email capture is its biggest strength. Every client interaction is permanently logged to create tamper-proof audit trails that check all boxes for German tax auditors under HGB and GoBD, cutting out endless manual note-taking before filing seasons. All client financial data is protected with end-to-end encryption that complies fully with GDPR. The built-in ERP sync pulls invoices and booking records automatically, and customizable retention settings let us mirror Germany’s legally mandated document storage windows without external spreadsheets. What do you dislike about Spiro?

The biggest pain point is the absence of native integration with DATEV, the standard German accounting software. We have to run tedious manual CSV exports and imports to keep transaction data synced while maintaining GoBD traceability. The default audit report layouts don’t match the format local tax authorities demand, so every export needs extensive editing before submission. Permission controls are overly simplistic; I can’t restrict junior accountants from viewing full confidential client financial data, forcing me to add extra GDPR monitoring workflows. There are also no pre-set retention cycles aligned with HGB multi-year fiscal archive requirements, so I must manually adjust timelines for every client dataset.
