Spendesk is a very easy platform to navigate, and the app and website work well together. Employees at the company rarely need to ask me many questions when submitting a request because the app is straightforward and clear to use.
The receipt reminders are a lifesaver, since I don’t have to repeatedly chase people to upload them. It’s also easy to add and remove people from the organization. The budget functionality is extremely useful for our company, as we use it to track each department. We used the purchase order function for the first time this year, and it was pretty simple to set up and follow.
I have to monitor the expenses of every department, so being able to track everything by cost center is indispensable. I don’t often need to contact customer support, which is a good thing, but when I do, the response is usually very quick and we resolve the issue within the day. This year brought the big switch to electronic invoicing, which was a scary subject for a small company. Spendesk made it a lot less hectic thanks to their early preparation. That said, I attended almost every webinar to be extra prepared, and I felt some of them were a little repetitive and not always necessary. Although I did get my questions answered, having so many webinars also added pressure around the topic.
Now that it’s been rolled out and we’re using the electronic invoicing functionality, there hasn’t been much discussion or follow-up. I’m a little concerned that we might not be using it correctly. This ties into my next point: we don’t often have meetings with our account manager. I’m actually not sure who our account manager is, which may be another issue in itself. I understand we’re a smaller company, but I do feel that even a once-a-year catch-up would be beneficial and reassuring.
My issue with Spendesk itself has been the same from the start. Our goal has been to use Spendesk for all expenses, but that isn’t really possible when most companies require a direct debit, meaning we need an IBAN and mandate. As a result, we not only have Spendesk to export our expenses, but we also need to keep using our bank for many of our bigger expenses like phone, internet, and rent.
