I've been using Snagit since its early days, and it has remained one of the most indispensable tools throughout my professional and academic career.
What I appreciate most is its intuitive interface, reliable screen capture, powerful annotation tools, and ability to turn screenshots into clear, professional documentation. Features such as arrows, callouts, highlighting, cropping, and image editing make it much easier to explain complex information without writing lengthy instructions.
I currently use Snagit almost daily for my studies at the University of Waterloo and the University of Alberta. Whether I'm documenting programming exercises, capturing course materials, reviewing technical concepts, or preparing assignments, Snagit helps me work more efficiently and communicate information clearly.
Professionally, I've used Snagit in virtually every workplace throughout my IT career. I've also introduced it to a Canadian immigration consultant as a primary documentation tool for organizing supporting evidence, capturing application details, and preparing immigration submissions.
Its greatest benefit is the time it saves while improving the clarity and consistency of my work. After many years of using Snagit, I still consider it an essential productivity tool rather than simply a screenshot application.
I highly recommend Snagit to students, educators, software developers, IT professionals, and anyone who regularly prepares technical or professional documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Having used Snagit since its early days, I have very few complaints about its core functionality. It has consistently been one of my most reliable productivity tools. However, there are several areas where I believe it could become even better.
**UI/UX and Mobile Accessibility:** My biggest disappointment is the absence of a fully featured native Snagit application for iOS and iPadOS. As someone who regularly uses a Mac, iPhone, and iPad for university studies and professional work, I would appreciate having the same powerful capture, annotation, and editing capabilities across all my devices. Native Apple Pencil support on iPadOS would be particularly valuable for annotating lecture materials, programming exercises, and technical documentation.
**Integrations and Cross-Device Workflow:** I would love tighter integration and seamless synchronization between desktop and mobile devices. Being able to start a capture or annotation on my Mac and continue editing it on my iPad would significantly improve my workflow, especially when switching between academic and professional tasks.
**Performance:** Snagit has generally performed reliably throughout my years of use. My suggestion is to maintain that reliability while improving the handling of large collections of screenshots, lengthy documentation projects, and cross-device workflows.
**Pricing and Return on Investment:** I consider Snagit a worthwhile investment because of the time it saves. However, I hope future mobile applications and additional capabilities can be offered without making the overall cost prohibitive for students, educators, and long-term users.
**Support and Onboarding:** Snagit is already intuitive, but I would welcome more advanced tutorials and practical workflow examples for software developers, university students, educators, and professionals who manage complex documentation.
**AI and Intelligent Features:** I would be interested in seeing more intelligent documentation capabilities, such as automatically organizing screenshots, identifying sensitive information for redaction, generating descriptive annotations, and helping turn captured workflows into structured documentation. These would be valuable enhancements rather than corrections to existing shortcomings.
Overall, these are suggestions for future development rather than serious complaints. Snagit has served me exceptionally well throughout my IT career and my studies at the University of Waterloo and the University of Alberta.
My strongest recommendation to the development team is to bring the full Snagit experience to iOS and iPadOS while preserving the simplicity, reliability, and efficiency that have made the desktop application indispensable to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
