It is more expensive than other tools and does not perform. **What do you dislike about Smartlead?** I have read a couple of similar reviews and decided to also speak up. We have been running our campaigns through SmartLead for the past 3.5 months +-. At first, everything was fine, we got decent results, nothing special. All of a sudden. Our results plummet as we start a second campaign. FYI, we had 6 emails and at the time the reputation according to SmartLead was close to 100% for all of them. Now just so this doesn't end up in a book-long rant about how bad the software is and ESPECIALLY the Customer Support, here are our current results of our active campaign: 3,457 sent - 22 replied(2%) -19 bounced(1.74%) I have personally been battling with customer support for weeks - they blame ESP, our my copy, or spam words, or missing spintax. Our copy is short, we send it as plain HTML, we have checked the spam words internally via SmartLead and externally via MailMeteor, we use spintax in every stage, every variant. Do not use this software. Customer Support is the most useless thing they have as they only blame external factors that they have no ability to change or send you a blog post link with a 'common issue'. Use snov, or instantly, or brevo, or klaviyo. just not this garbage. Additionally, their software is very buggy, every third time I open a campaign I cant see my sequence or other tabs, very clunky and just bad. **What problems is Smartlead solving and how is that benefiting you?** I wish Smartlead would help me solve my problems. It claims to work as a standard email marketing tool but fails in many ways. **What do you dislike about Smartlead?** They product is so insanely buggy, and the support is next to useless. Basic features like email warming, properly sequencing emails, syncing with CRM, app notifications, email formatting - all features Smartlead markets and claims work, do not work as advertised and their support will constantly blame the ESPs (when other competing solutions do not have similar issues). I thought I was able to implement it quickly, but then it turned out their warming feature wasn't doing anything, because I saw that my emails from a new account were being bounced but SmartLead claimed they had 100% deliverability (which was impossible considering most emails were bouncing). Makes it clear their claims to remove emails from spam folders were likely false as well. The amount of error popups I see in the tool when doing anything, including importing contacts, updating sequences, or anything in normal use is insane and impoosible to keep up with. Using this tool is exhausting on many levels. For each of the noted problems above, I had to reiteratre the bugs many times with documentation to support, and easily spent 10+ hours / month showing the problems with support who took many cycles to try to understand the issues, and at the end they would never address any core usubility issues. It has a well-rounded offering for its price point (basic plan). Onboarding was fairly easy, and the A/B testing feature is useful. Support articles and resources are overall pretty solid and has decent coverage **What do you dislike about Smartlead?** Almost immediately I ran into a bug which interrupted my first campaign and unfortunately meant I was getting no value from the software. The resulting support experience has been very frustrating and has left me without a resolution or reimbursement for over a month despite regular follow-ups and patience from my side. It took a while before I could get acknowledgement of the issue, with a few misunderstandings/misdiagnoses before getting my point across - which I think is fine, misunderstandings happen and maybe I wasn't explaining it clearly enough - although the agents were a bit fast to pass the blame to my ESP (which ultimately had no blame in the matter) and it took a few times for me to point things out/repeat myself for the message to land. Actual performance has been poor in terms of email delivery and response. as compared to other platforms. The editor is clunky. The credit limits for leads is prohibitive for a high-volume shop. We have not found customer service to be responsive to our needs and have had to reach out unsuccessfully multiple times. There is no master dashboard or "to-do" list for follow-up, so you have to spend a lot of time searching inboxes for interested prospects, which is time-consuming. Best for low-volume shop. As mentioned the ROI has been poor. It may be that email marketing really is dead as some has proclaimed. Campaigns are easy to create, organized, and filled with new leads, and there are not a lot of bugs compared to Instantly. **What do you dislike about Smartlead?** 1. Warmup is not the best. It's missing some basic features such as scheduling, and importance marking, but more than anything it's ineffective. We've warmed up between 100 and 150 new email addresses on Smartlead and all of them had 100% domain reputation. New email addresses should have a lot lower domain reputation with a lot of messages landing in spam so they could be pulled out from spam, marked as important, being read, etc. to teach ESPs that these emails are safe. We've had 5 sets of emails having a sudden drop in deliverability from 40-90% to 10-20% in a matter of days (on successful campaigns), and according to their Slack community, a lot of people experienced identical issues. Glockapps and Mailreach tests for these addresses showed specific ESPs were marking our messages as spam. This is an indication that there's no proper ESP pooling established in the warmup process. 2. Support is very slow and unpredictable. Sometimes it takes 24-48 hours to get a response, other times you receive it within minutes. Apart from that, their communication could be better. A couple of months I was reporting an issue they couldn't find a problem with and after several of my messages pointing out specific issues their response was "Okay mate". That was a response from their CEO, not some random support agent. In the Slack community, he tends to be arrogant and condescending to people reporting issues (as I expect his response will be here), and then when they release new features as a fix to these issues he presents them as GROUND BREAKING, INDUSTRY-LEADING features. I also like that it was really easy to create custom filters so you can mark replies as anything you would like. **What do you dislike about Smartlead?** I use Smartlead every single day and I absolutely hate it. I was forced to use Smartlead as my emails didn't work in Instantly for some reason. Use of Smartlead is really complicated compared to Instantly and it has lot of bugs - Sometimes you cannot create new campaigns and sometimes you don't received any replies to your emails, today all of my leads just lost their categories. Sometimes these are global bugs but no one notifies you about them. Sometimes when you add new variant into your campaign, you cannot delete it so you are forced to create completely new campaign if you don't actually need the Variant anymore. The mobile app doesn't give any notifications so it's useless. It's not easy to use. Also, it's really hard to reply into emails for 2 reasons. Reason one being that when you reply, the reply box actually blocks you from seeing the message that you are going to reply for. The second reason being that new replies isn't on top of the new email messages, they are just in random place and you need to find them. Customer support is sometimes ok, sometimes your case is just forgotten. I thought I would never write bad review but Smartlead crossed the line haha **What problems is Smartlead solving and how is that benefiting you?** Smartlead solves the issue that I can get all my email replies into the same place and I can reply for them in the same place, also.
