It is clean and professional-looking, and each tab I have in the program saves to a new page of the PDF. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** Every time I open the program through the web browser, something goes wrong. Either I cannot see all my tabs, or I cannot copy a box, I cannot edit something, the list goes on. I like the look of the org chart when it is completed, but getting to that point each week when I have to make updates is very time-consuming and irritating. I typically do not write bad reviews such as this, but this program is one of the worst I have used, unfortunately. I keep trying to figure out ways around the issues I run into, but the only thing left to do is find a new org chart program. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used this program to make our org charts but are going to discontinue using this program because of all of the issues I constantly run into while trying to make updates. You can easily create walls, doors, walkthough spaces, and even put where windows are in the building you are drawing. You can get into detail however much you want. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** It would be helpful if it had more options for creating rooms/ buildings to scale. I found it a little frustrating when attempting to make slanted walls with a door. The door kept swinging the incorrect way. I had to work with it a while before I got it the way I wanted it. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** Smartdraw is a tremendous and excellent program for quick and easy drawings, diagrams, and representations. It would be better if the trial lasted two weeks like most software so that students have time to turn in the work and then correct it if they need to. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** I teach networking at a university, and one of the assignments in the book has the students use SmartDraw. It is affordable and provides a lot of bang for a little buck. It's makes the job even easioer by integrating with our Microsoft Office, OneDrive and Adobe suites. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** Everythgin is great, but i wish there were even more options for design, becasue SmartDraw integrates well with out other software, has excellent data automation and is easy to setup for a quick start. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are overhauling our corproate startegic plan with a limited budget and did not want to outsource the work to an agency. I like how easy it is to make changes if necessary. There are great features to the desktop version. I like that notes and comments can be printed out. I like that I can export from the online version easily to the desktop version. I like that I can see changes being made to the software as I do use it daily. I am able to contact support and get responses right away and if I do not have a solution then they let me know they are working on it. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** The desktop and online have different options. I go back and forth between the two because of this. If you can make the best of both, you have a winner. I wish there was a comment or note box for the document. The online version of the view of the document list can be improved, I feel user interface can be better. I would like to see the featurs on desktop and online version match. On the online version I see that if i open a template to review it is shown as part of documents, I would like to see this in separate listing so I know I did not create anything yet, I just viewed it. I would like to print the comments from the online version directly and to be shown in a pdf version with the sequential order as the document workflow- the numbering does not number in sequence across the digram from left to right as I imagine it would. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The steps being documented are showing team members how many tasks there really are and where the steps can be taken to improve for the benefit of all. The benefits are being able to see the steps all set out in a diagram. I like seeing the diagram and how others see the true number of tasks being done. All the included templates make it easy to see how and why to use a certain diagram or chart type versus another. I also enjoy the flexibility it gives me to import other workflows and diagrams from other tools along with the ability to export to many different formats. We have used SmartDraw as an alternative to using Visio for several years and feel it does everything we need it to do and more! **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** There are a few functions and layouts that I wish were a little more user friendly or easier to manipulate. Otherwise, it is a great tool for putting together visual diagrams and workflows. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** SmartDraw will do most if not all you are looking to do with charts, workflows, and diagrams. Things are pritty standard, nothing exciting here. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** That I am forced to use templates when I start a new file, basic shapes are lousy, zoom controls, I have to turn off spell check every time, theme colors are boring, line snapping is a joke, rotating shapes has problems, all tools feel extremely rigid, shape libraries are from 2003 and very few of them have anything remotely usable, straight lines that aren't straight, moving around the document is clumsy, object group behaviour is unpredictable, can't define a specific paper size so I know how big it will come out when printed, when I want to minimize the SmartDraw windows i have to press the _ button, I can't minimize it from taskbar, precision movement of objects is nonexistent, ... There's a lot more complaints but I guess I can't remember them all at the moment. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** Just get Visio. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problems of: I need to make an image of something that can be made with basic shapes, some lines and some text. It is obvious to me as an end user that the SmartDraw organization is focused on its clients. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** I struggle to find any areas where improvement is "needed," but if I was to make one suggestion it would be to offer customers an annual opportunity to spend two hours with a SmartDraw in-house expert to answer questions or review any stumbling blocks that users may have. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** Build your expertise with a small team of active users. The ease of use and loading of students was efficient. When we switched to remote learning we needed a tool that was able to create blueprints and simulation to what we were doing within the classroom. Since last spring we have expanded into using it in Welding and Architecture. Building Construction has just started to integrate this technology as well. **What do you dislike about SmartDraw?** The downside of SmartDraw is the price of the yearly membership. When you are a school and you are needing to add software to enhance both in-person and remote learning the bills can add up. It would be nice if you were able to buy a site license that available based on the current version. Instead of paying the yearly fee of close to $3,000 dollars. I am sure that after we learn more and integrate it into more of our classes the value will increase and make the price not feel so heavy. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Students are able to create and review electrical schematics. The Interior Design and architecture classes were able to create and edit blueprints. The shift to remote learning was one that we in CTE struggled with as the selling point to our programs and classes were the hands-on aspects. Smartdraw gave us some of the hands-on activities we were looking for in order to continue the theory and keep the students engaged. ### 17. However, to do that with SmartDraw requires you to have MS Project installed. This negates the benefits of using SmartDraw as a viable substitute for MS Project since you need MS Project for it to work as we need. If we have to have MS Project installed and thus paying for the licensing, then we might as well use MS Project. Other less robust products tout the ability to import and export MS Project files without having to have MS Project installed so this lack of functionality is surprising from SmartDraw and is a big roadblock to being able to move the Agency to managing our many thousands of projects using SmartDraw as the preferred platform. **Recommendations to others considering SmartDraw:** It can save greatly on the cost of using products such as MS Visio while still retaining file compatibility needed for when sharing with external partners and contractors. **What problems is SmartDraw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Currently the primary two are as a viable replacement for OrgPlus and as a viable replacement for MS Visio. ### 19.
