**What do you like best about Slack?**

I mainly use Slack for internal team communication, such as project updates, quick questions, and file sharing, and I love how everything stays organized in channels by topic or team. This is where our day-to-day work happens. The channels feature really works for us, as we have separate channels for each project and team, so conversations never get mixed up. The search function is really good too; I can find any message or file from months ago in seconds. I like how Slack connects with other tools like Google Sheets, making everything accessible without switching tabs. The mobile app is smooth as well, making it easy to stay updated on the go. These features together just make the whole workday smoother.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The biggest thing is the notification overload. When you are in too many channels it gets overwhelming and you end up missing important messages. Sometimes the app feels a bit slow to load especially on old devices. It would be great if they had more flexible pricing options. Better thread tracking would help so follow ups don't get lost. Smarter channel management like auto archiving inactive ones would keep things clean. A built in task feature would also be great so we don't have to switch to another tool just to assign action items from a conversation.

I use Slack to keep all our team communication in one place, reducing email clutter. It streamlines approvals, file sharing, and tagging teammates in real time. The search function is a lifesaver, and integrations with Google Sheets keep everything accessible.

Channels for specific topics make it easier to keep conversations organised. Direct messages are useful for quick, one-to-one communication. I also like having scripts so we can set daily reminders to report progress.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The daily reminder script I set up doesn’t account for public holidays, so we still get reminders even when the office is closed. It’s also expensive, so we’ve switched to the free version, but we have to live with the limitation that we can’t view more than 90 days of history.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Instant communication with team members is especially helpful for me in my management role. Staff can message me, and I can respond as soon as I’m able. It’s also valuable for remote staff, since it lets them communicate quickly and easily with the rest of the team.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I love how Slack allows teams to organise different types of communication in dedicated channels. The way threads are structured is particularly helpful, as it keeps conversations organised and prevents important discussions from getting lost in busy channels. I also appreciate the ability to create private channels when more focused or confidential communication is needed.

I'm also a big fan of Slack's emoji features. The ability to create custom emoji reactions is both fun and practical, especially when reactions are used for polls or quick feedback. Another feature I find extremely useful is the ability to search for messages using specific emojis. It may not be one of Slack's most widely used features, but it has saved me countless times when I needed to quickly find messages marked with custom emoji tags.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The only drawback I've found so far is that I haven't been able to temporarily mute notifications for an entire workspace - I can only mute individual channels or direct messages. I'm not sure whether this feature doesn't exist or whether I simply haven't been able to find it.

Slack is very handy because I can instantly communicate with colleagues across different working groups. I also like that I can use it on my PC, as well as through the app and the web app. This makes it a flexible tool that keeps me in constant contact with the different teams I work with.

The only thing I dislike about Slack is how complicated it gets when you have more than one account. For example, I have a personal Slack account and another, more professional one linked to my company email. Switching between the two accounts is terribly slow.

The newly added Slack bot is amazing and is one of my favorites. I appreciate that I can organize chat rooms and set them in folders. Collaborating with the team is easier; giving and getting feedback is more straightforward, and setting reminders is convenient in chat rooms. I usually bookmark and create folders like projects, social, critical, and urgent, and they work well based on prioritization.

Hurdle so many time the voice is an issue. The other person can't hear the voice, which is an issue quite frequently.

simple UI makes life a lot easier and it has intergrations with almost all the tools that i use daily like Jira, gitlab so its better. Simple AI features makes calls easier if i miss any  and i see you can find solutions to your problems in support channel or Q&A which makes it better for linux users. Overall Performance is great

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The app consumes lot of CPU in linux machines which makes screen sharing and working on terminal causes freeze in my laptop for that i had to change to use WEB UI. Because of this CPU issue i am not able to share screen explain the problems to my team members

I like the integrations part, i don't have to open Jira everytime and grafana alerts. i can just read everything on slack which makes easier to find the bug

It's nice to be able to ask different departments a question that everyone else can see and keep up to date with the comments. It's nice to DM colleagues instead of emailing them every time I need something. It's nice to be able to search for previous threads that can help with troubleshooting. We also have a few Zapier automations, one notifies of new leads, another of new sales, etc.

I wish it was easier to organize the channels that I'm most interested. I also wish I could separate the threads that I'm tagged in personally vs the ones that have a group tagged that I'm a part of.

It is a good, distributed communication platform.  It is nice to be able to setup channels as needed on our own, and share that as needed with others.  It also integrates with other systems effectively for messaging and connections.  It is also very convenient to use both on laptops or on phones.

Sometimes the learning curve can be tough.  When we merged with another company, they had a hard time understanding the culture of slack threads.  Conversations can also tend to get long and get bogged down and hard to follow.

I like that it is easily searchable for terms, I like that it is secure since we are in the healthcare industry, I like that you can silence notifications for the entire app, or just specific group chats and can choose the amount of time independently. The channels feature is really nice for group chatting. I like that you can bookmark and pin things for reference later and the Huddles feature.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It's very hard to figure out how to set up a group in Slack, unlike with other apps I've used. I don't like that you can only search back for 3 months unless you upgrade to the paid option or that you cannot upgrade for just yourself, but it instead prompts you to upgrade for the entire company.

We use the bookmarks feature to link our frequently used documents for each client, so it's very easy for anyone on the team to quickly find what they need.  Integrating Slack with Asana, Gmail, and Canva has also been a great time saver, too - we can easily assign and update projects within one platform.

I appreciate the custom notifications and Do Not Disturb settings that let me control when I'm interrupted. Slack’s got problems that actually matter when you use it every day. Notifications still flood you even with Do Not Disturb on. The free plan gives you 90 days of history which is not enough for real work.

Threads makes it easy to group the different tasks we work on as a team into threads for communication. By highlighting the person’s name, it’s easier for instructions to flow, which is extremely valuable compared to several emails going back and forth with the whole team in CC.

It’s very difficult to reply within a conversation thread. The UI isn’t very user-friendly, and it makes following and responding to messages harder than it should be.

Slack’s AI is really helpful. I can go through huddles and transcripts, and the AI automatically takes notes during huddles and summarises them. If I miss something in a channel, the AI can summarise everything and give me an instant recap of the discussion.

I had to manage the notifications on my own because, during work hours, channel mentions kept bothering me and I was constantly getting interrupted. It would be better if it were easier to understand the notification settings and manage them.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If we’re in a channel discussing something and I join late, I can use the AI Agent to summarise the discussion so I understand what’s going on. It also helps during the channel conversations AI notes by converting them into a transcript. Sometimes I need proof of what was discussed, so I can ask the AI what the conversation was about regarding the website issue last week. The AI understands what I mean and gives me the details of that discussion, which is very beneficial for me.

Slack is a simple team communication app. It keeps all my communication with my organization very organized and simple. We can create channels with only the people that we need in them. It has threads within a message, where it keeps all the communication very structured. Also, it has many features like Huddle for a quick call, screen share while on call, etc.

Nothing that has come across my experience with Slack.

For communications via email, it seems very scattered and sometimes very difficult to find a conversation. But with Slack, it is very easy to communicate with the team or with anyone in the organization. It also has reminders to keep us on top of certain messages or tasks for us to come back to and look into them, which helps me to prioritize tasks for my day. Also, communication via channels keeps communication to a certain topic within that channel and is easy to navigate through them. So in a way, it keeps me on top of all the communication.

The new Slack bot helps me stay organized by summarizing what happened in the channel, which is really useful if I've been away or on PTO. It's fun and simple to use, with cool features like emojis. Slackbot is great for me as a manager because it provides a summary of activities in channels, saving me time from having to monitor them closely. I appreciate how it helps maintain high-quality working relationships, even though we're a remote-first company with team members in multiple time zones.

Some of the integrations aren't super great. It's great with Google Workspace, but the Jira integration is pretty standard. You get an alert about it, and I'm not really sure how helpful that is. It's nice that it talks to everything, but beyond just an alert, I'm not really sure what we're getting from some of the integrations.

Fast async collaboration: threads and mentions make conversations easy to follow and help cut down on “drive-by” interruptions.

Integrations that actually save time: Jira/GitHub/Calendar alerts, along with automations (Workflows, simple bots), reduce manual follow-ups and keep work moving.

Search is a lifesaver: it’s fast to pull up past decisions, links, and files, and it’s especially useful when onboarding someone new.

Huddles for quick alignment: perfect for a 5-minute sync without needing to schedule a full meeting.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Notification overload (UI/UX): it’s easy to end up with too many pings across channels, threads, and mentions. The result is constant context switching and “always-on” fatigue. Better defaults, along with smarter notification recommendations, would make this easier to manage.

Information gets lost over time: Slack is great for speed, but decisions and key takeaways can disappear inside long threads. Without strong habits (pinning, canvases/docs, and linking back to a source of truth), important context becomes difficult to track down later.

Integrations can create noise: Jira/GitHub bots are useful, but if they aren’t tuned, they can spam channels and drown out the signal. We’d like more granular controls, plus better digest options enabled by default.

Performance with heavy workspaces: it’s generally solid, but very large workspaces can feel slower—especially for search, loading older messages, and switching channels—particularly on older laptops.

Pricing at scale (ROI still good, but…): once you need enterprise features, the per-seat cost adds up quickly. It can be hard to justify for occasional users who only need light access.

Support/admin complexity: rollout is straightforward, but governance at scale is harder (channel sprawl, permissions, guest access, retention policies). Better built-in tooling for channel lifecycle management—ownership, archiving, and cleanup—would be a big improvement.

AI/Intelligence needs more control: summaries and catch-up features are helpful, but we’d want clearer admin controls, more transparency about what content is included, and more consistent quality across languages and technical conversations.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Slack, a lot of our internal communication was stuck in long email threads and recurring meetings: questions took hours to answer, decisions were hard to track, and coordinating across teams created a lot of overhead. Now, things are much smoother.

We used to struggle with slow back-and-forth, but now we can resolve questions in minutes in the right channels, which speeds up execution and reduces blockers. We used to struggle with cross-team alignment, but now each project has a shared space (channels) where updates, decisions, links, and stakeholders are centralized, so we need fewer sync meetings. We used to struggle with manual follow-ups, but now integrations push updates automatically (Jira/GitHub/incidents/alerts), keeping everyone informed without having to chase people.

We also used to struggle with onboarding context, but now search makes history accessible (past discussions, decisions, files). That reduces repeated questions and helps new joiners ramp faster. Finally, we used to struggle with quick alignment, but now huddles handle fast syncs without scheduling, which saves time and helps us keep momentum.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really appreciate how Slack is a replacement for emails, which aren't so efficient. It provides instant messaging that offers more flexibility. I'm able to perform mainly textual messages, but also make calls, do screen shares, and share files. These features are especially useful since I can start a call right away with the relevant people following the channel and screen sharing helps with troubleshooting issues or presenting things in the product. File sharing on Slack is easy with drag and drop into the Slack window, and it keeps the files accessible for a long period. Slack is way easier to use than Google Chat, it integrates better into the system and allows us more flexibility. Also, feedback on the initial setup was that it was pretty much straightforward, which is great.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think sometimes it gets very complex to find all of the messages that really involve me. Especially in our organization where you have a bunch of different channels and bunch of different threads about different things. It's easy to miss a message that involves or requires my attention. But since we have DMs and activity and threads and messages, everything becomes slightly more complex to manage. So you don't see everything in one place, but it's broken into different areas. So sometimes messages go without being seen.
