What I like best about Slack is how effectively it brings communication, collaboration, and transparency together in one place. Rather than relying on long email chains, Slack allows teams to organize conversations by project, department, or topic, making it much easier to find information and stay aligned.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how Slack enables easy team communication and organized channels, which makes day-to-day work much smoother. Quick collaboration through Slack centralizes communication across teams and clients, reducing email dependency and enabling faster decision-making and collaboration. I also appreciate Slack's better integration support and faster performance compared to Microsoft Teams, along with its more intuitive channel-based communication model. Setting it up is quite easy, allowing teams to quickly configure integrations and permissions, even though workflows for larger organizations can take some effort.

Too many notifications can be distracting. Unimportant messages tend to get lost in busy channels.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack is a simple team communication app. It keeps all my communication with my organization very organized and simple. We can create channels with only the people that we need in them. It has threads within a message, where it keeps all the communication very structured. Also, it has many features like Huddle for a quick call, screen share while on call, etc.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Nothing that has come across my experience with Slack.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For communications via email, it seems very scattered and sometimes very difficult to find a conversation. But with Slack, it is very easy to communicate with the team or with anyone in the organization. It also has reminders to keep us on top of certain messages or tasks for us to come back to and look into them, which helps me to prioritize tasks for my day. Also, communication via channels keeps communication to a certain topic within that channel and is easy to navigate through them. So in a way, it keeps me on top of all the communication.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like that Slack is easy to use and simple, allowing me to get started right away. The new Slack bot helps me stay organized by summarizing what happened in the channel, which is really useful if I've been away or on PTO. It's fun and simple to use, with cool features like emojis. Slackbot is great for me as a manager because it provides a summary of activities in channels, saving me time from having to monitor them closely. I appreciate how it helps maintain high-quality working relationships, even though we're a remote-first company with team members in multiple time zones.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Some of the integrations aren't super great. It's great with Google Workspace, but the Jira integration is pretty standard. You get an alert about it, and I'm not really sure how helpful that is. It's nice that it talks to everything, but beyond just an alert, I'm not really sure what we're getting from some of the integrations.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack helps us manage projects by organizing tasks, tracking questions, and pinning documents in channels. It supports asynchronous collaboration across time zones, fostering high-quality remote work relationships.

Channels as shared context: projects and teams have one central place to capture decisions, share updates, and ask quick questions, which means less email and fewer meetings.

Fast async collaboration: threads and mentions make conversations easy to follow and help cut down on “drive-by” interruptions.

Integrations that actually save time: Jira/GitHub/Calendar alerts, along with automations (Workflows, simple bots), reduce manual follow-ups and keep work moving.

Search is a lifesaver: it’s fast to pull up past decisions, links, and files, and it’s especially useful when onboarding someone new.

Huddles for quick alignment: perfect for a 5-minute sync without needing to schedule a full meeting.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Notification overload (UI/UX): it’s easy to end up with too many pings across channels, threads, and mentions. The result is constant context switching and “always-on” fatigue. Better defaults, along with smarter notification recommendations, would make this easier to manage.

Information gets lost over time: Slack is great for speed, but decisions and key takeaways can disappear inside long threads. Without strong habits (pinning, canvases/docs, and linking back to a source of truth), important context becomes difficult to track down later.

Integrations can create noise: Jira/GitHub bots are useful, but if they aren’t tuned, they can spam channels and drown out the signal. We’d like more granular controls, plus better digest options enabled by default.

Performance with heavy workspaces: it’s generally solid, but very large workspaces can feel slower—especially for search, loading older messages, and switching channels—particularly on older laptops.

Pricing at scale (ROI still good, but…): once you need enterprise features, the per-seat cost adds up quickly. It can be hard to justify for occasional users who only need light access.

Support/admin complexity: rollout is straightforward, but governance at scale is harder (channel sprawl, permissions, guest access, retention policies). Better built-in tooling for channel lifecycle management—ownership, archiving, and cleanup—would be a big improvement.

AI/Intelligence needs more control: summaries and catch-up features are helpful, but we’d want clearer admin controls, more transparency about what content is included, and more consistent quality across languages and technical conversations.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Slack, a lot of our internal communication was stuck in long email threads and recurring meetings: questions took hours to answer, decisions were hard to track, and coordinating across teams created a lot of overhead. Now, things are much smoother.

We used to struggle with slow back-and-forth, but now we can resolve questions in minutes in the right channels, which speeds up execution and reduces blockers. We used to struggle with cross-team alignment, but now each project has a shared space (channels) where updates, decisions, links, and stakeholders are centralized, so we need fewer sync meetings. We used to struggle with manual follow-ups, but now integrations push updates automatically (Jira/GitHub/incidents/alerts), keeping everyone informed without having to chase people.

We also used to struggle with onboarding context, but now search makes history accessible (past discussions, decisions, files). That reduces repeated questions and helps new joiners ramp faster. Finally, we used to struggle with quick alignment, but now huddles handle fast syncs without scheduling, which saves time and helps us keep momentum.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really appreciate how Slack is a replacement for emails, which aren't so efficient. It provides instant messaging that offers more flexibility. I'm able to perform mainly textual messages, but also make calls, do screen shares, and share files. These features are especially useful since I can start a call right away with the relevant people following the channel and screen sharing helps with troubleshooting issues or presenting things in the product. File sharing on Slack is easy with drag and drop into the Slack window, and it keeps the files accessible for a long period. Slack is way easier to use than Google Chat, it integrates better into the system and allows us more flexibility. Also, feedback on the initial setup was that it was pretty much straightforward, which is great.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think sometimes it gets very complex to find all of the messages that really involve me. Especially in our organization where you have a bunch of different channels and bunch of different threads about different things. It's easy to miss a message that involves or requires my attention. But since we have DMs and activity and threads and messages, everything becomes slightly more complex to manage. So you don't see everything in one place, but it's broken into different areas. So sometimes messages go without being seen.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack for communicating with different stakeholders in my company and outside it. It's a replacement for inefficient emails, offering more flexibility with instant messaging, calls, screen sharing, and file sharing.

I also really appreciate the strong search functionality and quick file sharing, which save a lot of time when I need to revisit past discussions or track down specific information.

One thing I dislike about it is that important messages can easily get buried in busy channels, especially on large teams with constant notifications. It can also feel overwhelming at times to keep up with multiple conversations happening across channels and direct messages. On top of that, the free version’s message history limitations make it harder to go back to older discussions or find shared files when I need them.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how easy Slack is to use. It's very similar to any messaging tool that we use for personal usage, so it's not really anything you need to learn to get used to. I find the integration with outside teams helpful, especially being able to invite them into one Slack channel. Creating internal Slack channels is also very helpful because the whole team gets the message instead of sending messages individually. The initial setup of Slack was very easy, especially the mobile application, which is very similar to apps like WhatsApp and iMessage, making it very simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Sometimes when I change settings for the time zone not to be updated automatically, it still does that. I believe this might be because I have it on several devices like my phone, laptop, and tab. I'm not sure why, but sometimes it just automatically changes the time zone.

Slack lets me reach anyone in the company, even if I don’t have their contact details. Creating channels is helpful for communicating with the whole team at once, avoiding individual messages.

The search feature is helpful overall, but tracking down very old conversations or specific files can still take a while when there’s a high volume of communication. On top of that, Slack can use a significant amount of system memory when it’s been running for long periods, which may impact performance on lower-end devices. Even with these drawbacks, it’s still a highly effective collaboration tool overall.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my testing perspective, Slack has been especially valuable for improving coordination during regression cycles, production deployments, and critical issue validation. Its integrations with tools like Jira, Jenkins, GitHub, TestRail, and monitoring platforms provide instant notifications for build failures, bug updates, deployment status, and test execution results directly in the relevant channels. This supports faster decision-making and quicker response times when situations are high priority. The search functionality is also extremely helpful for tracing historical discussions, supporting root-cause analysis, and referencing past production issues or testing decisions without having to rely on manual documentation.

Another major benefit is the efficiency it brings to remote and hybrid work. Team members across different time zones can stay aligned through organized discussions, shared files, pinned documentation, and threaded conversations. In my experience, it has strengthened collaboration, reduced communication gaps, and improved overall productivity across testing and release management processes. While managing notifications can sometimes be challenging in very active workspaces, Slack remains one of the most reliable and effective collaboration platforms I’ve used in my professional work in software testing and quality assurance.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack is an absolute must for most companies. It allows for quick communication, easy file sharing (even large video files!), and disbursement of information. You can set up channels based on specific groups, which makes it easy to share information with just those needed. Pin files or messages to the channel, making it easy to find them later. There is an awesome feature where you can "remind me later" and then set a time when you want Slack to remind you about it. Or "save for later" where you can take messages and use them to create a to-do list that can be marked complete when done. You can even use different Slack accounts and easily navigate between the accounts to keep items separated. i.e. an internal Slack account with your company and another account with other companies that you do business with (clients, vendors, etc.)  You can DM a specific person or smaller team. And of course, there is the integration of gifs, emoticons, photos etc which help keep communication fun! Our agency uses this everyday, all day.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Oftentimes communication can move very quickly if you have a large number of people in a channel. Messages could get easily lost in the conversation. However, with the new integrations of the save for later and remind me, this is helping to manage that issue.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication! Being that we have employees around the globe and working from home, this makes communication so easy. File sharing is quick and easy. Even large files are sent without compression, clogging inboxes or exceeding file size limits. Plus, with the integration features with Google Drive, Fellow, Asana it allows us to easily link to tasks, drives, files and more with a nice preview function. If there is an issue where not everyone in the group has access to the file, it will let you know and easily adjust permissions in Slack.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like the fact Slack has automations and integrations that make it a much more powerful tool. It really saves a lot of time when I can insert an emoji, for example, and get an automation in place so that it opens a Notion board and creates something in there. Same goes for tickets—it's connected automatically with HubSpot. So any new ticket that comes in that's under my name will notify me on the go. We work with cloud, Notion, and HubSpot, and they are all integrated into Slack, which makes it much more powerful.

Sometimes the searching, it's not so great. I wish it would be easier to find exactly what you're looking for.

Slack helps me get responses on the fly, review past experiences, and integrates with tools like HubSpot and Notion. Its automations and integrations save time by handling notifications and tasks automatically, making communication efficient.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like using Slack for work because I can keep in contact with my colleagues and everyone in my organization. I appreciate the interface where everything is just in one place, allowing me to easily switch from community to individual DMs. I like that everything is visible, and I can always find what I'm looking for, including apps and emojis. Recording and sending video messages is a great feature because it helps me stay in touch with my colleagues and lighten up the day. The interface design is also pleasing, especially since it features purple, my favorite color. Once logged in, using Slack is very easy, and everything is open and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It took me a while to get used to the thread, reply with thread, or reply to a message. Because most times when I want to reply to messages, I send things to the whole channel instead of thread. Now I've gotten the hang of it.

Slack solves the problem of consolidating everything in one place, making it easy to switch between community and individual DMs.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It’s easy to connect with team members and stay up to date on project deliverables. I also really love the dark mode feature. That said, setting up a bot is pretty difficult, and there’s no REST API available for automation. Because of that, it becomes a painful process to create a new bot, set up permissions, and then wait for approval from Slack admins, which feels tedious. Performance-wise, it’s lightweight and quick, and it doesn’t consume much RAM. I haven’t fully tried the new Slack AI yet, but from my initial testing it seems to search for data much better than the conventional search, so I’m excited to use it more.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

There are no REST APIs exposed for users or developers to consume, which makes automation through code much harder. The workflows also don’t offer many vital integrations, and it becomes difficult to get things approved. It would be much better if an ordinary user had more control over their account through REST APIs and PATs, instead of having to go the route of creating a bot.

It helps teammates connect more quickly. Instead of calling someone for every single question, they can just send a message, and whenever the other person gets a chance, they respond. It’s also useful to use workflows and bots to query containers running in a cluster and post the output directly in chat, so not every user has to manually go into the cluster and execute commands.

For example, the ability to create channels for different projects or teams keeps conversations organized and prevents the chaos of endless email threads.

What I dislike about Slack is that it can become overwhelming if your team isn’t disciplined about how they use it. The constant stream of notifications can make it hard to focus, especially when multiple channels are buzzing at once. Even with customization options, it sometimes feels like you’re fighting against distraction rather than working with a productivity tool.

Another pain point is thread management. While threads are meant to keep conversations organized, they often get buried or ignored, leading to fragmented discussions. It’s easy to miss important context if people don’t reply in the right place.

Slack is solving the problem of scattered, inefficient communication by bringing everything into one organized space, and that directly benefits me in several ways. Instead of drowning in endless email chains or juggling multiple apps, Slack provides real-time communication that speeds up collaboration and decision-making. The tagging system is great because we can tag people and easily navigate through each group. I have over 150 projects, and the navigation is really easy. One of the best features is the ability to swipe through all the tags if someone has tagged me or if there is a post related to me. Slack has a feature that allows me to swipe back and check for messages I might have missed, which is really helpful. This has been really beneficial for me, especially when I discover that I've missed an important message after a few days. I can just swipe and find it. For the pricing tier, it’s kind of on the high end for some regions. It’s good enough overall, but I still think it should be cheaper in certain regions compared to others. For support and onboarding, it’s quite easy. They provide easy and quick help. As for the AI intelligence, I haven’t really used it yet, so I can’t say much about it.
