**What do you like best about Slack?**

What stands out about Slack is how it keeps communication organized without slowing you down. Channels structure conversations by team or topic, search actually works when you need old context, and integrations pull your tools into one place. It cuts down on email clutter and makes quick decisions easier without long meetings.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

A few downsides of Slack: it can get noisy fast with constant notifications, which makes it easy to miss important messages. Threads sometimes fragment conversations instead of clarifying them, and searching older messages isn’t always reliable unless things were well-organized. It can also blur focus with real-time interruptions, and the free plan’s history limits are restrictive.

Slack solves scattered communication and slow decision-making. Instead of long email threads and siloed tools, it centralizes conversations by team and topic, making it easier to find context and move work forward quickly.

For me, that means faster turnaround on tasks, fewer unnecessary meetings, and better visibility into what everyone is working on. It also streamlines collaboration through integrations, so updates, alerts, and workflows happen in one place instead of jumping between tools.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I use Slack to connect with coworkers across Canada instantly and in a more casual way than email. It's a great way to not add stress to someone's inbox, making conversations casual like chatting in the office, and it shows if someone is offline or their time zone. I like how it has different tags and groups, and I can directly DM someone. The tags allow me to have organized conversations and include who is needed properly. I love being able to directly DM someone, especially since I don't have everyone's contact information. The catch-up feature is a great way to remind you that you missed something in a conversation and it allows you to manage what is outstanding rather than wasting time searching through conversations. I also like that it allows you to share files/photos and respond directly to certain messages. Additionally, the initial setup of Slack was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I would like to be able to send photos or videos over Slack and not have them compress but otherwise it's great

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack to connect instantly with coworkers across different time zones in a casual way. Organizing conversations with tags, DMing without needing contact info, and catching up on missed conversations saves me time and stress.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack excels at keeping team communication fast, searchable, and well integrated with the tools teams already use. At the same time, organizations need to stay on top of costs and maintain good notification hygiene so it doesn’t become distracting.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

One downside of Slack is how easily it can become distracting and noisy. When a team ends up with too many channels, constant notifications, and lots of side conversations, it can start to feel like you’re managing the app instead of actually getting work done.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack mainly solves the problem of scattered team communication by bringing messages, files, decisions, and updates from other tools into one place. For me, that means it’s easier to keep conversations organized, quickly find past information when I need it, and respond faster without constantly switching between email and a bunch of separate apps.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I appreciate using Slack to manage my end-to-end delivery pipelines without constantly switching between apps. It brings alerts, code reviews, and project tickets into one place, which keeps discussions public, searchable, and organized. I also like being able to approve a pull request or notice a build failure without leaving the chat window, which gives me a lot of flexibility during the day.

Commands like /deploy and /status can trigger backend actions instantly, making routine tasks easier. In my development environment, /deploy helps connect to continuous deployment tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD, while /status works as an on-demand check for infrastructure monitoring tools like Datadog, New Relic, or AWS CloudWatch.

The initial Slack setup felt highly automated and straightforward for basic data, and the native migration dashboards made it easy to ingest Microsoft Databases directly. Slack also offers different pricing tiers that fit different team sizes and needs. The AI features in Slack, like Channel Recaps and Smart Search, make it easier to get back up to speed after being away for a while. Overall, I’m likely to recommend Slack, and I’d rate it an 8 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

There is a thread and notification chaos caused by conversations easily breaking into multiple side-threads, making it difficult to trace a single technical decision. There is a UI bloating which brings down performance, such as the desktop app which takes up too much memory, slowing down the system when multiple workspaces are open simultaneously.

I use Slack to manage delivery pipelines without switching apps, getting alerts, code reviews, and project tickets in one place. **What do you like best about Slack?**

I really like Slack for having a separate space where I can message different people and see all the combined people in a single ad group. It lets me organize people into different groups based on my requirements, making it easy to meet people. Another feature I appreciate is the announcement channel, which is similar to one on WhatsApp, but more professional. Slack offers a professional space for sharing updates quickly and easily, which solves the gap between using WhatsApp or Gmail for professional communication. This organization and professionalism are very important features that I require for maintaining my club.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think the payment plan could be removed. It's not like it's very costly, but I think it's not necessary since we already use other apps for the same kind of thing. Also, I think the user interface could be a bit more interactive. The emojis and everything can be a bit more interactive and custom-made, like mods for Slack.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I use Slack for better communication and to talk with team members. It's easy for me to communicate and keep the team updated about the tasks. I enjoy it because I can create different projects under one workspace and separate the teams according to the project needs. For someone who has more projects and more team members, it helps me manage all the people in one place. I also do hiring on Upwork, and Slack helps me onboard them and allow them to connect with people. It makes it easy for me to manage the project as well as the team. Slack helps to keep the communication flow right, so the projects cannot be delayed. The initial setup was pretty well, just email and signup, and join the workspace.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack settings is nothing I like. It is pretty complicated. Sometimes I have to spend more time than necessary for little things. Slack has a lot of complex settings sections which are not good for me.

The best communication platform I’ve ever used. My favorite feature is being able to reply in a thread within the same context; it keeps all discussion for that specific topic in one place and makes it clear the conversation is happening in the same thread.

Thread confusion: Conversations that split between threads and the main channels can be difficult to follow, and it’s not always clear where to continue the discussion.

What I like best about Slack is how it centralizes team communication and keeps conversations organized by channel, project, or account. It makes day-to-day coordination much faster because updates, questions, files, and follow-ups can happen in one place instead of getting scattered across email or multiple tools.

I especially find channels, threads, mentions, and integrations helpful for remote work. Slack makes it easier to stay aligned with the team, follow account-level conversations, and quickly identify where action is needed. It has improved our workflow by reducing back-and-forth emails and keeping communication more visible and searchable.

One thing I dislike about Slack is that it can become noisy when there are too many channels, notifications, or conversations happening at the same time. Important messages can sometimes get buried if threads are not used properly or if there is no clear communication structure.

Search is helpful, but it can still take time to find older information when there are many similar conversations. I think Slack works best when a team has clear rules for channels, mentions, threads, and follow-up ownership. Without that structure, it can quickly become another place where work gets scattered.

Quick, intuitive.  People like it so they use it.  Integrates very well with other platforms.  Our Slack / Notion integration is super.  Having Slack in our Notion search makes such a difference; thoughts and ideas that could be lost get caught.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

It can become a dumping ground.  "Oh, I'll just stick in the #general channel".  Its ease-of-use makes it easy to abuse.

I hate the fact that it can be so hard to find out what is "New".  My Slack icon in the taskbar tells me there are new notifications.  I go in and I can't work out where they are.  In channels?  in DMs?  I find one and the notification goes away.  5 minutes later, it's back.  Infuriating.

Quick team communication.  Less reliance on Outlook.  Easy access point to a more structured knowledge base. The team communicates better than it did but it does leave older team members more rooted in email behind.

I use Slack to communicate with a client’s distributed team, and it’s brilliant for maintaining 24/7 coordination. I love how flexible it is for sharing files, images, and videos. It makes managing different conversations and channels incredibly easy, preventing the workspace from turning into a complete bedlam.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Visually, it's not the most attractive tool; the interface feels functional rather than inspiring. Also, reviewing old threads is quite annoying as it starts from the beginning instead of the end, forcing you to scroll for ages. Lastly, the notification system can become overwhelming; however, this is more a consequence of the collaborative model rather than a flaw in Slack itself.

Slack has become the central nervous system for my client’s distributed team. It helps solve the fragmentation that comes with working across different time zones by centralizing communication in one place, which has massively reduced our email load. Beyond day-to-day chatting, it also serves as a crucial repository for supporting documents that are usually a nightmare to track down in standard cloud storage. Having document revisions, screenshots, and specific feedback right next to the conversation where they were discussed makes everything far easier to find.

That it has substituted email for small messages. Gets you a quick revert. and creates a casual tone in every conversation so even a person who is non-confident in email etiquette also can dive into a meaningful conversation. It's truly inclusive, fast and convenient.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Slack needs to increase its attachment capacity. Also running a 'plugin' software tool is still a difficult thing to master. Also, a first-time user should be greeted with a user manual video / PDF link. Another persistant issue is audio quality and connectivity during huddle calls. That needs to be improved.

Connecting with new people in an organization whom you don't know are also a message away, so a formal meet and greet can be skipped. Hence, it's really bringing a team closer, and that too with speed. Decisions are being done in real-time conversations; there's no need to wait for a formal email reply. In terms of integrations, Slack is extremely powerful. It connects seamlessly with tools like Google Drive, Jira, GitHub, Zoom, and many others, allowing me to manage work and receive updates without constantly switching between apps.

On performance, it’s generally fast and reliable, with real-time messaging and notifications that keep teams in sync. Even with large volumes of messages, it maintains good responsiveness.

From a pricing/ROI standpoint, while the free version is useful, the paid plans unlock valuable features like message history, advanced search, and integrations, which significantly improve productivity and justify the cost for teams.

What I dislike about Slack is that, despite its strengths, it can become overwhelming and less efficient at scale.

From a UI/UX perspective, the interface can get cluttered with too many channels, threads, and notifications, making it hard to keep track of important conversations. Threaded replies, while useful, are sometimes easy to miss.

In terms of integrations, although Slack supports many tools, excessive integrations can lead to notification overload and noise if not carefully managed.

On the performance side, Slack can become resource-heavy, especially on desktop, and may slow down when handling large workspaces or long message histories.

From a pricing/ROI standpoint, the cost can add up quickly for growing teams, and limitations in the free plan—like restricted message history—can be a drawback for long-term use.

Ease of use and great UI. The best feature is being able to not just create channels and groups but also connect with people outside the organisation who use Slack. Also on adding a new person to a channel, you can expose the entire historical chat to them.

Also like automation features that can send messages and nudges to complete tasks or recap events.

I have also rarely encountered any bugs or performance issues on Slack.

Nothing as such. I think it is the best organisational communication channel out there that I have personally used in my career.

Automations have helped me summarise my calls, get notifications for tasks and meetings and create relevant chat groups for my different prospects.

Saves me a lot of time to go to SalesForce everytime or our recording tool to see call summaries.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like most about Slack is the history and the search option. Whatever chats I have done in Slack are well recorded, and all my documents and everything is recorded. Even if I have lost a client and they're not still connected to me, whatever chats I have done with them will be stored in that particular conversation history, which is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think the Slack call feature, that is Huddle, sometimes has connection issues. So it can be improved. Also, the admin panel is slightly tricky to navigate, and I had some issues with the email I first used, which created problems when changing it later. It's important to use the correct email when creating a Slack admin account.

Slack helps us organize communication, share files securely, and create channels for collaboration. Its one-click integration with other apps brings all workflows into one place.

**What do you like best about Slack?**

What I like best about Slack is the UI/UX, which feels incredibly slick and light. It makes the daily routine of messaging colleagues and organizing projects seamless. Creating new channels is intuitive, and the search functionality is powerful enough that I can always find specific messages or files buried in old threads without any hassle.

Furthermore, the integrations are a standout feature. Having a good set of third-party apps connected directly to our workspace keeps our workflow centralized. In terms of performance, the platform is consistently fast and reliable, even when handling a high volume of real-time communication. While I haven't used the AI/Intelligence features extensively yet, the core product remains the best tool I've used for team collaboration.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

While the messaging is top-notch, Slack calls (Huddles) can still be poor in terms of connection stability and audio quality compared to dedicated video conferencing tools. I occasionally experience lag or dropped connections during calls. Additionally, because I haven't used the AI/Intelligence features yet, I feel like some of the newer interface updates focused on AI can feel a bit cluttered or unnecessary for my current workflow.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack has effectively solved the problem of fragmented communication for our team. Compared to Microsoft Teams and Google Chat, which I find clunkier and less intuitive, Slack provides a far superior user experience. It has streamlined our workflow by making it incredibly easy to search through history, message colleagues instantly, and share files without them getting lost.

The ability to create dedicated channels for specific projects ensures that conversations stay organized and relevant. The main benefit has been a significant increase in team transparency and speed—we no longer waste time digging for information because everything is centralized and easily accessible

I love using the Slackbot, as it helps me get answers faster and summarize channels, which is a huge time-saver. The Slackbot’s ability to summarize conversations from different channels saves me a ton of time, especially for meetings and reviewing client conversations. I heavily rely on it to handle my unread messages efficiently. The overall flexibility to integrate Slack with tools like ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, and Google Workspace is great, and the default connectors available save us time. I also appreciate the enterprise search feature for accessing insights from these integrated tools. Setting up Slack was quite easy for us, making the transition smooth. Since switching from Gmail and Google Chats, Slack has been a game changer for my team. I also rate Slack very highly, giving it a 10 out of 10.

I really like a lot of features inside of Slack. However, I wish Slack could add or improve a few things. First, assigning different roles to different groups of people in Slack would be amazing. Right now, you can't assign specific permissions to a group of people. For example, I want to assign certain additional permissions to my sales team, but I can't do that. I would like to have that flexibility like we have in Salesforce. Another feature I would like to see is preventing guest users from downloading any files inside Slack. Right now, the only way to do it is by having separate phones for the organization and personal use, which we don't do. So it's either you disable file downloads for everyone or not just for guest users, which is a problem. Lastly, recording Huddle is a feature I'd like to see because sometimes the transcript doesn't pick up all accents properly, especially since our team is based across the globe. With a recording, we could go back and check what was said versus what the transcript writes.

Even on the website, it handles calls and chats seamlessly. Compared to other tools, the subscription is less while offering more features. We can also integrate Slack with a Databricks AI bot for business insights.

When someone doesn’t reply within a thread and instead posts in the main channel, the conversation loses its context and gets scattered. On the other hand, when a thread runs too long, it’s easy to forget it’s even there until someone pings you again.

The greatest disappointment about Slack is the pace at which it can get overwhelming. There are too many channels, too much notification, and all at once it seems more difficult to focus than ever. I tend to spend more time reading messages than doing work and this is counterproductive.

I love Slack. It's real cool. I like the real cool emojis and how it feels up to date, having a real millennial-esque vibe. I love the fact that you can video chat through it, allowing for direct communication, unlike email where you have to wait back and forth. Slack gives you the opportunity to show when you're online, away, offline, or even on vacation. It's just a real effective corporate communication style. The status visibility is cool too, as it lets people know if you're busy or on vacation. I also love how it's pretty easy and simple to set up. Additionally, I appreciate the feature that allows you to jump on a call with the actual huddle. I love how Slack supports communication through different channels, giving restrictions on certain channels, allowing executives to post while normal employees can't. There’s the ability to make certain channels private, so they are only accessible to team members who need them.

Sometimes when integrating Google Calendar with Slack, it doesn't keep the status up to date. Like, if you set yourself away or silence notifications, the Google Calendar integration may override it. Sometimes Slack notifications don't override Google Calendar notifications, which can be a bit confusing. Also, Slack doesn't have a feature to bulk upload members to channels, which would be helpful for managing our monthly all-hands channels.

History is deleted after 90 days in free version which leads to missing some important deals or conversations.
