## Slack Reviews
  ### 1. Clear, Sequential Chats with Handy Reminders and Calls

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** José V. | Scrum Master, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

It lets me chat in a clear, sequential flow instead of dealing with misleading email thread replies. It also offers a lot of useful chat-related features, like scheduled reminders. On top of that, we can make calls through Slack using Huddle. Slack is also reliable and performs very well across different channels, whether I’m adding attachments like snippets or sharing a wide variety of files, including video and PDFs. It also makes it fairly easy to onboard external clients, either by inviting them as single-channel guests for free, adding them as multi-channel guests for a fee, or connecting two paid Slack organizations through Slack Connect.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I honestly can’t find a single thing I don’t like about Slack. I really love it. That said, I can see how it might feel new or unfamiliar to some people at first—especially during onboarding—because they sometimes try to use it like email instead of treating it as a chat tool.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Seamless communication, with helpful reminders about our conversations. The app integrations also make it more useful and fun to use.

  ### 2. Slack’s Integrations and Huddles Supercharge Engineering Team Coordination

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Enguerran M. | Développeur Full Stack, Sporting Goods, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack’s integration ecosystem is easily its strongest asset for an engineering workflow. Being able to connect our source code repositories like GitHub or GitLab, along with Jira and our CI/CD pipelines, directly into dedicated channels via incoming webhooks has genuinely transformed how quickly our team can react and coordinate. I also rely heavily on Huddles for fast, low-friction audio and screen-sharing syncs, without the overhead of creating or joining a formal meeting link.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

Despite Slack’s overall efficiency, the constant stream of unread badges and channel mentions can quickly create notification fatigue if it isn’t configured carefully, which can distract from our day-to-day UI/UX focus.

On performance, Slack is still an Electron-based application, and that comes with a sizable RAM footprint. It can lead to noticeable slowdowns, especially when it’s running alongside heavier IDEs. From a support and administration standpoint, managing channel guest permissions can also feel overly restrictive at times, unless an admin steps in.

Also, while the newer AI / Intelligence thread summaries are promising, they sometimes hallucinate or miss important context in highly technical code discussions. Finally, the enterprise pricing model is very steep; the jump from standard features to corporate tiers makes the long-term ROI harder to justify for expanding startups.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack has fundamentally addressed the problem of internal email silos and fragmented communication within our engineering team. By centralizing discussions, automated alert logs, and deployment triggers in a single workspace, it gives us an immediate lift in operational ROI.

The biggest advantage for us has been a clear reduction in incident response time. When a CI/CD pipeline fails or an infrastructure monitoring tool flags an anomaly, the notification lands in our dedicated Slack channel right away. From there, developers can start a Huddle with one click, share screens, and debug together in real time. It also makes our daily onboarding syncs easier to run, keeps workflows moving smoothly, and helps maintain fast, consistent alignment across the team.

  ### 3. Organized Team Chats, Fast Collaboration, and Helpful AI Summaries

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sudarshan S. | Talent Acquisition Recruiter, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

What I like most about Slack is that it centralizes communication, file sharing, and team coordination in one place. I use Slack daily for internal communication recruitment coordination, marketing discussions, sharing candidate updates, tracking project conversations, and quick collaboration between teams. Before Slack, a lot of our communication happened through email and multiple messaging apps, which made follow-ups harder and file tracking messy.

The feature I relied on most was message and file search. It let me quickly pull up old conversations, resumes, Google Sheets links, shared documents, and project discussions without wasting time scrolling through long chat histories or digging through email threads. In both recruitment and marketing work, this saved a lot of time because I could retrieve important information instantly, even from older conversations.

I also regularly used the Google Workspace integration to share Docs, Sheets, Drive files, and meeting-related updates directly in channels. This improved the workflow since teams could collaborate in real time without constantly switching between applications. Notifications and integrations worked reliably most of the time across desktop, web, and mobile.

The UI is straightforward and easy to understand, which made onboarding smoother for new team members. Even non-technical users on our team adapted quickly. Channels also helped keep conversations organized by department and by project, reducing confusion compared to communication scattered across different platforms.

Performance has been stable overall, especially for messaging, huddles, and file sharing. I found audio huddles particularly useful for quick discussions, since many issues could be resolved immediately instead of scheduling longer meetings for small updates. The mobile app was also helpful during remote work because I could continue conversations and review updates while away from my system.

The AI summary and search-related improvements are helpful in busy channels with a large number of unread messages. They make it much faster to catch up on discussions after meetings or time away from work.

From a productivity and ROI perspective, Slack reduced unnecessary emails, improved response times between teams, and made collaboration more organized for day-to-day operations. Overall, it became one of the main communication tools I used throughout the workday for coordination, updates, and collaboration across multiple tasks and teams.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

One thing I dislike about Slack is how quickly notifications can become overwhelming, especially when I’m juggling multiple active channels and projects at the same time. During recruitment coordination and marketing-related communication, there were days when the constant pings from ongoing discussions, automated integration updates, and general channel activity made it difficult to stay focused on priority tasks. Even after adjusting notification settings, important messages can still get buried under the overall volume.

Another issue I’ve noticed is that the desktop app can occasionally feel heavy on system resources, particularly when multiple workspaces, huddles, and integrations are running at once. I used Slack on the web, desktop, and mobile, and while performance was generally stable, I did run into occasional slowdowns when sharing large files or trying to load older conversations in busy channels.

Search works well overall, but in channels with a long history, tracking down very specific discussions can still take multiple attempts and a fair amount of filtering. AI summaries are helpful for catching up on missed messages, but they sometimes miss smaller contextual details in longer threads.

From an onboarding and usability perspective, the platform is straightforward, but large workspaces with too many channels can become cluttered over time. Better workspace organization, along with smarter notification prioritization, would improve the experience further.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before using Slack, most recruitment communication in our workflow happened through email, calls, spreadsheets, and multiple messaging apps. Coordinating with hiring managers, sharing candidate updates, scheduling interviews, and tracking feedback across teams required a lot of manual follow-up. Important messages or shared resumes could easily get buried in long email threads, especially when we were handling multiple open roles at the same time.

Slack addressed a major part of that communication gap by centralizing recruitment coordination into dedicated channels and more organized conversations. We set up separate channels for hiring updates, interview coordination, onboarding discussions, and internal communication, which made collaboration faster and more transparent across recruiters, HR teams, and hiring managers.

One of the biggest benefits for me was the search functionality. I used it frequently to pull up older candidate discussions, shared resumes, interview feedback, Google Sheets, and other hiring-related updates without having to dig through emails. That saved a meaningful amount of time during active hiring cycles, when quick response times matter.

The Google Workspace integration also improved our workflow because resumes, interview trackers, offer documents, and shared Sheets could be accessed directly within Slack conversations. Instead of repeatedly asking for the latest file or link, the team could collaborate in real time through shared documents and timely notifications.

Slack also reduced delays in interview coordination. Quick huddles and instant messaging helped resolve scheduling issues and approval discussions much faster than waiting on email replies. During busy hiring periods, the speed of communication improved noticeably and helped move candidates through the process more efficiently.

I used Slack regularly on desktop, web, and mobile, especially for remote coordination and interview scheduling outside standard work hours. Notifications and syncing were reliable most of the time, which helped me stay on top of urgent hiring discussions even when I wasn’t at my computer.

From a pricing and ROI perspective, the investment made sense because the platform reduced communication delays, improved coordination between recruiters and hiring managers, and cut down the time spent searching for information or following up manually. Even small time savings per candidate add up when you’re managing multiple positions and ongoing interviews at once, and faster coordination also supported better overall productivity during recruitment cycles.

The AI summaries and search-related features have also been useful for catching up on missed conversations in active recruitment channels. During high-volume hiring, channels can get extremely busy very quickly—apparently every stakeholder suddenly discovers urgency the moment a candidate has another offer in hand.

Slack streamlined recruitment communication, improved coordination between teams, reduced response delays, and made our hiring workflows more organized and efficient in day-to-day operations.

  ### 4. Brings All Our Tools and Teams into One Central Place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shreyas N. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Slack provides a highly intuitive user experience that simplifies collaboration across various channels and groups. Managing communication across multiple organizations without switching roles keeps my workflow incredibly smooth. Because it integrates so well with our other daily tools right inside those channels, it acts as a centralized hub that outperforms any other software I've used. The web version is reasonably fast but the honestly the software experience is way better to use. The pricing is also quite generous especially for any company just starting off. Although I feel that the onboarding process could be improved for introducing users with features that new users are normally not familiar with or might have a hard time figuring out. I like the way it summarises long text automatically or updates after a long time of log off.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

If not managed strictly, the sheer volume of notifications and active channels can become overwhelming and disrupt deep work. It sometimes creates an 'always-on' expectation where you feel pressured to reply immediately. In highly active channels, important information or decisions can easily get buried in the chat history. While the search function exists, finding a specific message or file from weeks ago can sometimes be a tedious process. The desktop application can be quite resource-heavy. If I have multiple workspaces open at once, it tends to consume a significant amount of memory (RAM), which can occasionally slow down my computer. While the free version is great, the per-user pricing model for the paid tiers can get expensive very quickly as an organization grows, especially for smaller businesses or startups trying to scale.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the problem of fragmented project communication. When coordinating on software builds or sharing system design files, having dedicated channels keeps all our troubleshooting discussions and mockups in one searchable place. It benefits me by completely eliminating the slow back-and-forth of email, making it much easier to keep development cycles moving quickly. The main problem Slack solves is context switching. Before, information was scattered across emails, task managers, and document links. By integrating our daily tools directly into Slack channels, it brings all our alerts and files into a single hub. This benefits me by streamlining my workflow—I spend less time hunting for information across different platforms and more time actually getting work done. It solves the friction of external communication and onboarding. Using Slack Connect allows us to seamlessly bring external partners or new team members into specific channels without exposing our entire workspace. This benefits me by making collaboration with outside groups feel just as fast and unified as internal team chats, significantly speeding up project onboarding.

  ### 5. Slack as a Centralized, Productivity-Boosting Hub for Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashwath S. | Senior Data Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

What I like best about Slack is how effectively it bridges both professional collaboration and quick personal communication within teams. Beyond just messaging, it acts as a centralized workspace where workflows, notifications, integrations, and project coordination all come together seamlessly. As a professional, features like automated reminders for EOD status updates, call and deployment notifications, channel-wide announcements, and integrations with tools like Jira, GitHub, and Google Workspace significantly improve productivity and accountability. It reduces context switching, keeps communication transparent, and enables faster decision-making across teams. Slack also scales well across different work styles from quick async updates to structured cross-functional collaboration which makes it extremely valuable in fast-paced engineering and project environments.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

One thing I dislike about Slack is the level of administrative control and monitoring capabilities available through enterprise integrations and super admin permissions. While integrations with compliance and security platforms like Secureframe or Sprinto are useful for organizations, they can sometimes create an overly restrictive environment where employees lose access to important features, workflows, or flexibility needed for efficient collaboration. From a professional perspective, it can also feel intrusive knowing that workspace owners or top-level administrators may have visibility into communication history, activity patterns, and internal discussions. This reduces the sense of privacy and trust that employees expect in day to day communication tools. Additionally, excessive governance and notification-heavy workflows can make Slack feel more like a monitoring system than a collaborative workspace, especially in highly regulated organizations.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack tackles one of the most difficult problems faced by modern businesses – fragmentation of communications across various platforms and processes. Rather than spending too much time going through lengthy email threads or using multiple channels of communication, all discussions, project management, update information, and documentation is done using easily searchable and accessible channels in Slack. For me, as a professional, this greatly increases my efficiency since I can quickly interact across teams including engineering, product, operations, and business in real-time. In addition, it makes meetings redundant since decision making, conflict resolution, and status checks are done instantly without waiting for scheduled meetings. The feature of integrating various tools into Slack ensures that I get relevant alerts, approve tasks, and deploy applications within the same communication channel.

  ### 6. Excellent Slack Experience: Great UI, Secure Details, and Helpful Huddles

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu V. | Executive Member, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The UI is very good, and users’ personal details are not exposed. It’s easy to tag users, and I can create personal, project-based groups with selected users, like Discord servers, which is very helpful. The Huddle feature is also useful because I don’t need to create separate meeting links to talk to my team members in the company for any personal doubt or project-related query. The summarise chat feature is very useful as well, and I also like the status feature for when I’m away. Overall, my experience with Slack has been excellent.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The Huddle feature, especially the screen-sharing option, could be improved.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s easy for me to communicate with my team members on a daily basis for any queries and meet-ups, without exposing my personal info. I also find it easy to work through a separate app that’s specifically designed for work-related communication, so I’m not distracted by my personal life on other apps like WhatsApp or insta. Overall, work-related things are very easy to manage on Slack.

  ### 7. Slack Huddles and Screen Sharing Shine for Team Collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kinshuk S. | software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

The best features about slack is definitely huddle, it is buggy at times but when it does work, it works really well. screen sharing, canvas, huddle chat is all great. different channel for different concerns is also great.

the activity tab is also good, lets me find exactly where the DM reply is or whats happening where.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

again, the number one disappointment is the fact that huddle is so glitchy especially on mac at times that we end up using google meet just to have a reliable connection and screen share.

beyond that i would there need to be better in chat stuff like polling UI, interactive stuff where we can get input from the entire team. better youtube video integration would be great too, currently it just opens a very small yt video that is hard to navigate

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

communication between teammates , calling, screensharing and having all commns about the biz in one place has been great

  ### 8. Intuitive, fast, and with excellent support: ideal for managing clients through channels

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ana C. | Co-Founder, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

Honestly, what I like the most is how easy it is to use: the platform is really intuitive. I find it very useful to have a separate channel for each client or for each area of the company. I also greatly value the ability to make calls directly within that channel; I love that part. Additionally, the option to pin messages is very practical. Overall, it is very easy to use and works very quickly, both in the web version and the mobile version. The free option is fine, but the paid version offers many tools that I consider essential for any business. Lastly, the customer support has seemed very efficient and helpful to me.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

There isn't anything specific that I dislike, but I would like it to have a calendar. It would be ideal.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication between work areas and/or with clients is very practical. I can create a specific channel and invite people only to that channel, without needing to add them to all, which is ideal for keeping communication focused and fluid. I also like the notifications when a message arrives and that people appear as "available" when they are using the app; that function is not as efficient on other platforms.

  ### 9. Collaboration Hub with Smooth Setup, But Lacks Some Basics in free tier

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam M. | Senior Technical Writer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I really like using Slack for staying in touch with colleagues and sharing files. As a Senior Technical Writer I need to maintain close ties for documentation reviews across engineering, Product oweners and managers, and support teams. We rely heavily on channels and huddles, and are considering exploring integrations with Jira, Aha and DevOps… It's quite useful for setting up spin-off meetings and huddles, like breakout rooms, after our weekly meetings and stand-ups. It really serves as a collaboration hub within the organization, bridging the gap because many of us work remotely or in a hybrid model, not being in the office together all the time. Slack also offers DMs for one-on-one chats or meetings about work, and it's a great platform for collaboration and working with colleagues. I enjoy the AI agent built into Slack from Slackbot; it's got this really funny animation whenever you hover over it, which always makes me laugh. It's quite useful for scheduling meetings, setting up times when I'm free and when my colleagues are free, which helps with planning out meetings and takes a bit of the load off. I appreciate that it automates mundane tasks, saving us time and leaving more room for important work. I also find the different channels you can set up in Slack to be intuitive and quick to use, making it easy to set up a channel for specific things without cluttering the feeds of other stakeholders. It's a private space for our team, great for sharing photos and documents. Overall, the setup was very easy and straightforward, quite intuitive, despite a slightly different naming convention and layout from what we're familiar with in Teams. It wasn't an issue for us at all. Onboarding was relatively straightforward with an intuitive UI broadly similar to Teams - there are some videos online too. The day to day reliability of the platform has been good and it can be used in browser, which I prefer, or a mobile app too.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

I think there's a bit of an issue with the licensing model. From what I can see on my account, the standard settings mean that after three months or after ninety days, unless you've got the pro version, you lose, for example, the chat history, and there's just a few limitations that you would expect to just be standard. So competitor tools, like Teams, for example, just include that functionality that you're having to upgrade. It's just a little bit disappointing, but I think this is justified for a business. Once it's adopted, for me, it's worth paying extra maybe for those features, but you'd expect them to just be standard. Really as part of the package. Because without that, it's pretty basic functionality. Notification management can become overwhelming in large organizations like NiCE, and older message history can sometimes be difficult to locate unless channels are well organized. I learned that the hard way, and routinely star important threads. Pricing can easily become expensive when scaled.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Slack to keep everything in one place, offering collaboration opportunities, DMs for one-on-one chats, meetings, and file sharing. You can also drag important chats, files, meetings etc into the starred area to find them more easily in future visits. Slackbot, the AI element saves time scheduling meetings for example. Slack has become the primary communication hub for our teams inside R&D and it has improved collaboration speed and visibility across departments with management, especially progress with sprints and meeting deadlines / customer commitments.

  ### 10. Slack Keeps Team Communication Real-Time with Powerful Integrations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Haritha P. | QA Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Slack?**

I like how Slack keeps everything in one place without the email back-and-forth. Channels let me split conversations by project or team, so I can mute what I don’t need and jump into what matters. The integrations are the real win — I can get GitHub alerts, Jira updates, test reports, and calendar sync right in the channel. With Google Calendar or Outlook connected, meeting reminders, interview schedules, and event updates pop up directly in Slack, so I never have to switch apps. Search is fast too, so I can pull up old decisions or files in seconds. For QA work, that means fewer missed updates, quicker coordination with devs and product, and my meetings are always visible where I’m already working. It just makes team communication feel lighter and more real-time.

**What do you dislike about Slack?**

The biggest thing for me is notification overload. If you’re in multiple channels with integrations firing constantly — GitHub, Jira, calendar sync — it gets noisy fast. Even with custom alerts, it’s easy to miss important messages in the flood. I also find that long threads can get messy. Once a conversation splits off, it’s hard to follow context unless everyone replies in the thread, and not everyone does that. And on mobile, it can feel a bit heavy. It’s fine for quick replies, but searching old files or scrolling through busy channels isn’t as smooth as desktop. Overall it’s still my go-to for team comms, but I end up spending time tuning notifications so Slack stays useful instead of distracting.

**What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Slack solves the “email + meeting overload” problem by moving team communication into one real-time hub. Instead of long email threads or waiting for meetings to get updates, everything happens in channels where devs, QA, and product can see it. For me in QA, that’s huge. I get instant alerts from Jira when bugs are updated, GitHub notifications when PRs are ready for testing, and calendar sync reminders so I don’t miss standups or interview slots. I can also spin up a quick huddle or DM a dev to clarify a test case instead of scheduling another meeting. The benefit: faster feedback loops, fewer missed updates, and less context switching. I spend more time actually testing and less time chasing information, which speeds up releases and keeps the team aligned.
