This way, simple changes, say, changing the address, a picture, or adding a blogpost can be done by anyone on the team. There are many free tutorials on the web in case one wants to expand their knowledge as well. There are millions of apps one can install for any imaginable need as well. **What do you dislike about Shopify?** Shopify runs on Liquid, their specific coding language, which means that our webdesigner had to learn how to use it first. So getting to know the specifics takes a while for new people. However, it is still essier to work with than magento. **What problems is Shopify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We currently use it as a static site only, not for e-commerce, since we are moving slow and on a budget. We will begin to implement e-commerce solutions once we need to raise funds for our NGO and start selling digital items. We love the flexibility it provides creating products that represent the different specific items we need to raise money for. The cart experience is user friendly as with the rise of online shopping most online donors are comfortable using it. The platform is flexibile and we have been able to customize it as needed for more specific needs. The app market is great for finding solutions or altering site if you aren't tech savvy at all. **What do you dislike about Shopify?** There hasn't been much about it we dislike. The old themes perhaps aren't nearly as flexibile as themes 2.0 but other than that we don't have much to complain about. **What problems is Shopify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We started using Shopify because we were "selling" lawn signs for a donation as a way for the community to show their support for us. We needed a system that provided true inventory tracking and management. Since then we have expanded and now process all donations through it and utilize it as our main website. ### 4. With this moving event, we have moving merchandise as well and having a laptop accessible at all times is difficult. Shopify has the easiest navigating and helpful app on your phone to make events on the go possible. The app allows us to let riders purchase merchandise wherever we are. We also enjoy how you can add products on-site to the app to then begin to sell. For example, one of our finale days was getting rain and we decided to start selling one of our incentives, the raincoat. Having this feature allowed us to keep track of what was sold as well as take credit cards. We love how you can take a picture of the credit card without always having to have a card swipe. **What do you dislike about Shopify?** There is nothing at this time we dislike, the application is quick and easy to use. **Recommendations to others considering Shopify:** I recommend you use Shopify if you are looking for a great product with a ton of ease. Without Shopify, we would not be able to sell our merchandise or even create new merchandise on the spot to sell. So when I wanted a full "store" page, I would need to upgrade to their higher service (I use the $9/month plan). **Recommendations to others considering Shopify:** Try using their $9/month service with buy buttons on your own site before using the $30/month option for most small stores. Within a few hours, you can have a basic store up and running. **What do you dislike about Shopify?** If you are looking for some more advanced customization (smarter coupon codes, better inventory control, etc) you are going to have to either code something yourself OR pay for a plugin/app. 50-75% of my emails to customer support re: feature requests result in them telling me to just get a plugin. **Recommendations to others considering Shopify:** Definitely take advantage of the free trial and see if their current feature set meets your needs. It met ours better than everything else we tried BUT we have to use several plugins/apps to make it work for us. The apps we use are Shipstation for shipping, Stitch Labs for inventory, Zapier for integrating with some of our other Saas accounts. **What problems is Shopify solving and how is that benefiting you?** For the size of store we run (mid-sized online business with occasional in-person event sales) Shopify is the best solution. ### 25. If you'll be using it for 10 or more products, it's one of the best options out there. If you're using it for less than that, it is probably worth it but definitely still shop around first. Shopify works well with so many other platforms through its API that it has become one of the most popular e-commerce stores to use. I always prefer to go with whatever the most popular option is because you know that it will continue to offer new features to its users to remain competitive and will also grow the integrations and tools it can provide to users. I doubt you'll find any other platform as well versed and ahead of the game as Shopify. **What problems is Shopify solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're easily able to run various marketing tests, track inventory, test discount codes and tons more that we were never able to do before Shopify. ### 33. We give free products on our store with customers who sign up as monthly members and I wish there was an easier way to make a product 100% free with a code. Right now, you have to navigate through making an item free by setting parameters based on price, shipping, etc. **Recommendations to others considering Shopify:** Since we are not primarily a retail business, I'm not sure if Shopify is the best.
