"Fast, Flexible Workflows—But Complexity Grows at Scale"
5/5
What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?

I like how quickly I can turn a messy manual process into a structured app with approvals, tasks, and tracking. We moved requests from email to structured forms with automated routing and status tracking, which sped up the process and gave us more visibility. I also like the low-code approach because it avoids a full development cycle for small changes, while still giving us flexibility for custom logic. Our operations team can handle most updates, and engineering steps in for more complex ones. ServiceNow App Engine fits into the broader ServiceNow ecosystem, so I can manage reporting, roles, and integrations in one place and connect with existing IT and HR workflows. Tracking SLAs and approvals gives us clear ownership and an audit trail, reduces manual follow-ups, and makes turnaround times more predictable. The initial setup was very easy. What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?

The biggest challenge is complexity as workflows scale. Simple apps are quick to build, but bigger ones are not as quick. I’d also like a better developer experience for complex customizations, including better debugging and troubleshooting. Cost and licensing are a concern, especially for teams that only need a few lightweight workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
