As a Senior R&D Project Manager at Munich Biotech Innovation Hub, my daily work focuses on managing biotech research projects, building partnerships with research institutions, biotech firms and investors, and maintaining long-term professional communication with dozens of industry stakeholders. Before using SendPulse, I relied on regular email tools and scattered messaging channels to follow up with potential partners and project collaborators. The whole process was messy, disorganized and extremely time-consuming, and I often missed follow-up opportunities due to fragmented communication records. What I like best about SendPulse is how it centralizes multi-channel outreach and automates routine communication work, which perfectly fits our biotech industry’s partner development and project docking needs.
The biggest advantage for my role is its flexible automated email campaign and personalized outreach features. In the biotech industry, cooperation negotiations and project matching require precise, professional and consistent follow-ups with different types of contacts, including research institute directors, R&D leaders, industrial partners and investment representatives. Earlier this year, I screened a batch of potential synthetic biology and biopharma cooperation partners with the help of sales intelligence tools. I needed to send tailored introduction materials about our hub’s R&D incubation projects to over 80 different contacts.
In the past, I would have to edit and send emails one by one, which would take me an entire workday. With SendPulse, I quickly grouped contacts by institution type and research focus, then set up segmented email templates. I personalized key details such as their research fields, recent published projects and potential cooperation directions. The platform automatically scheduled and delivered all outreach emails, and it tracked open rates and click-through data in real time.
This not only saved me massive manual work but also made our industry outreach far more professional. Thanks to the targeted segmented sending, we received nearly 30% more reply rates compared with our traditional one-size-fits-all emails. Several biotech research institutions actively followed upwith us and eventually joined our joint R&D project docking program.
I also really appreciate SendPulse’s unified message inbox and simple visual dashboard. All reply emails and consultation messages from partners are gathered in one single place, so I no longer need to switch between multiple mailboxes. I can clearly track which partners have responded, which are pending follow-up, and which project outreach batches perform the best. This allows me to arrange my follow-up priorities efficiently and keep our partner development progress on track.
Overall, SendPulse greatly optimizes my external communication and partner development workflow. It eliminates repetitive manual email work, improves the accuracy and efficiency of biotech industry outreach, and helps our team steadily expand high-quality industry cooperation resources and accelerate our R&D project docking progress. First, native integration options are limited for our biotech partner development workflow. At Munich Biotech Innovation Hub, I use Lusha to source contact details for research institutes and biotech partners, and Microsoft Excel to compile outreach and project follow-up reports. There is no ready-made native connection between SendPulse and Lusha. Every time I finish an outreach campaign, I need to manually export contact and email performance data, clean the dataset, and cross-reference it with our partner list from Lusha. Last month, I was running an outreach campaign targeting synthetic biology research groups. I imported an older exported contact list by mistake, which duplicated entries and skewed my tracking of open rates and reply feedback. Native integration with sales intelligence tools like Lusha would remove this manual work and lower the risk of data errors for our R&D partnership outreach.
In terms of performance, the platform can lag when we launch large outreach batches for biotech events. When we send emails to dozens of research groups and investors all at once, loading contact lists, filtering campaign statistics or reviewing open and reply data in the dashboard can become slow. During our internal project review meeting, I waited several minutes to pull up campaign metrics for our partner outreach, which slowed our discussion about adjusting follow-up sequences for potential R&D collaborators. Improving backend performance for large contact batch processing would help research and biotech teams analyze outreach results faster during busy campaign periods.
On support and onboarding, the available resources are mostly built for commercial marketing teams, with very little guidance tailored for biotech, academic or research partnership outreach. There are no tutorials focused on GDPR-compliant B2B outreach to European research institutions, segmented email workflows for academic stakeholders, or best practices for contacting university labs and investors. When I tried to set up multi-step automated follow-up sequences for our R&D partnership outreach, the help articles were too generic and did not address our specific industry needs. I submitted a support ticket during German working hours and got a slow response, which delayed our campaign launch timeline. Adding biotech and academic sector onboarding guides plus faster regional support would help R&D project managers configure campaigns correctly and avoid delays in partner outreach.
Overall, limited native integrations, performance lag during large outreach campaigns, and generic onboarding and support create workflow friction for our biotech hub. Better industry-specific documentation, faster regional support, and native connections with sales intelligence platforms would make SendPulse much more suitable for research and partnership development teams like ours.
