What do you like best about Semrush?

What stands out most about Semrush is how effectively it centralizes competitive intelligence, technical health, and client reporting into a single workflow, replacing three or four disparate tool subscriptions. The Keyword Gap tool is indispensable for quarterly planning. Filtering for competitor keywords ranking in positions 4–15 where our domain lacks presence builds weeks of high-intent content briefs in minutes, eliminating hours of manual CSV cross-referencing. The Site Audit engine handles large crawls smoothly, cleanly prioritizing actionable issues (redirect loops, canonical errors) over vanity warnings. Native syncing with Google Search Console and Looker Studio automates executive-ready visibility dashboards without third-party connector fees. Daily position updates accurately track Share of Voice across SERP features (Featured Snippets, PAA boxes). The dashboard’s AI Copilot actively surfaces traffic anomalies and ranking decay before they become major problems. While seat licenses add up quickly, Semrush easily justifies its cost by consolidating dedicated rank trackers, backlink databases, and technical crawlers. An unexpected operational win has been the Brand Monitoring tool, which allows us to quickly identify and convert unlinked brand mentions into high-authority backlinks. What do you dislike about Semrush?

Extra user seats are disproportionately costly ($45–$100+/mo), and vital market intelligence tools (like Semrush .Trends) are paywalled behind pricey separate subscriptions. Link freshness and discovery still trail behind Ahrefs. It frequently reports active links as lost and lags when detecting newly earned digital PR placements. The dashboard is cluttered with PPC, social, and agency tools pure SEOs rarely touch, making the interface feel heavy and riddled with upsell banners. Keyword volume estimates struggle with low-volume, high-intent enterprise terms, routinely showing "0 volume" for queries that actively drive conversions in Google Search Console.
