What I find most useful is the visibility it gives us into how customers may encounter our brand through AI-generated search. With a large retail business and a broad product range, we wanted to understand what happens when people ask AI tools for recommendations rather than searching directly for MR D.I.Y.
We used Brand Mention Tracking to monitor relevant retail and home-improvement queries and see which prompts resulted in MR D.I.Y. being mentioned. That gave us more context than simply knowing whether the brand had some level of visibility we could see the types of questions where our brand was being recognized and where other retailers were appearing instead.
For the marketing team, that made AI search easier to discuss in practical terms. We could use the prompt-level findings as another input when reviewing content, brand visibility, and customer discovery, rather than relying only on traditional search metrics.
I particularly value that it gives us a repeatable way to observe this emerging channel. Instead of manually checking AI responses from time to time, we can monitor defined areas and use what we learn to inform our broader digital marketing priorities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main limitation for us is that the AI search environment is changing quickly, so the information can require some interpretation before it becomes useful for a large retail organization. I’d like more ways to group and filter Brand Mention Tracking results by market, product category, and customer intent. That would make it easier to separate the prompts that matter most to our different retail categories and turn the findings into more focused marketing actions.
