**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

If you thiniking about automate your math routine and plot cool graphs then Scilab is right choice

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I`m dealing with data collection and processing, solving ODE, PDE. Very good for curve-fitting

  ### 4. Scilab

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

Scilab(Scientific Laboratory) is free and open source software for numerical computation providing a powerful computing environment for engineering and scientific applications. For usual engineering and science applications including mathematical operations and data analysis. Graphics functions to visualize, annotate and export data and many ways to create and customize various types of plots and charts. Algorithms to solve constrained and unconstrained continuous and discrete optimization problems.

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

I can't think of any major disadvantages, except that Xcos may not be as slick as SimuLink, Scilab documentation is not as good as that of MATLAB and Scilab to C/C++ translator may not be as good as MATLAB to C/C++ translator (although the last one is only a guess and not based on experience). Further, Scilab's collection of Toolboxes is not as exhaustive, well documents or of as high a quality as those of MATLAB.

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

Yes, scilab is one of the best software for communication and signal processing tresearch project use.

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using in my college lab, around 150 students are using. we are using for digital signal processing and communication research projects.

  ### 5. The (free) little brother that could.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Camilo R. | Project Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

The open source, free version, and (unrelated) little brother of the known behemoth; can easily accomplish simple operations and complex numeric analysis.

A Standalone, no nonsense, no million plugins needed, and small file; this is a perfect option for either ocasional use (school homework or office) but also robust enough to be a permanent and daily use tool.

Windows, linux and Mac versions available.

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

Needs to add official mobile compatibility at least for proper file browsing/testing and basic editing

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

Unless you need a very specific, exlcusive Matlab module, Scilab is the little brother that could. As basic, or robust as you needed it to be, it can replace most of the basic or complex numerical analysis that Matlab is used for.

Best of all, free & fully open source. One of the pinnacles of open source software.

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used it for years, from engineering homework, to basic and advanced numerical analysis in the oil & gas industry.

  ### 6. Experience in using SciLab

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek T. | Research Scholar, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

The best free and open software for engineers to practice simulations very easily.

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

The speed is little slow compared to matlab. Therefore it can be rectified soon so that we can make best out of it.

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

Really a beneficial software for electronics engineers to make any of their projects.

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My all simulations are made in scilab only. My assignments and few projects are made in scilab only.

  ### 7. Great software for high level numeric computation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Parthesh S. | Member of the Executive Committee, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

Really good software for higher and complex numeric analysis. This software is similar to the well known software MATLAB, but this is opensource, hence this is a free software. Highly recommended. Also is available on almost all platforms

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

Its interface is okay. It is classic and is not too attractive.

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

Really good software, almost similar to matlab, but free. Though its interface is okay, it won't have much problem regarding software usage. And opensource means one gets the latest software features! For mass usage this software does a really good role.

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this software to teach our University students the subject of Communication Engineering. Mainly graphs and all can be plotted and complex problems can be solved easily using this software.

  ### 8. Advanced version of matlab

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

The best part is it is an open source and advanced version of MATLAB which can help use this tool free of cost and same features of Matlab and 3d visualization is the best part of this tool .It also acts as a unique platform to bring together codes written in different programming languages as a single unified language

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

There is nothing to dislike about this tool, best to learn and understand software for students too.

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

It is so far a really good free software which can be implemented in schools for students to get a good hands-on professional experience while studying and great interface

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used this tool in order to get 3D radiation patterns of the antenna in a router and determine the strong signal in order to get reliable signal and network within the company and among LAN devices

  ### 9. Great Free Tool For Numerical Computations & Data Analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shyam M. | Senior Executive, Automotive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Scilab?**

It's got almost everything MATLAB offers and for free.

**What do you dislike about Scilab?**

Scilab exhibited a limitation in the size of the linear system it could solve in a complex
test problem. Also the translation to MATLAB requires some manual effort and the interface is not easily navigable.

**Recommendations to others considering Scilab:**

It is a great tool and free. There are very few things to worry about while working on it from a "Converting to MATLAB" perspective. Function files are not auto-loaded unlike MATLAB.

**What problems is Scilab solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimization & Statistics
