When I was finally getting the hang of the new platform, our district switched back to the old one temporarily. Also, as a groups creator, not being able to see other groups that other building administrators have created make it difficult to manage the groups feature so you have to ask who created which group to update those. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** Documenting what has been sent and received helps us know more about a student and the situation as well as identifying what has been done in one easy place instead of tracking down people to see what they know or have done. School Status has made this a reality, translating my messages into the preferred language of the family and allowing for this connection so I can share the vicotries that their child has had in their gross motor skills at school! **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** The challenges I face are that the translation feature is often off- the reply sent by the parent translated to English can be difficult to decipher at times. There are so many great things about SchoolStatus! **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** The only thing I dislike is how hard it is to create groups. I cannot seem to figure out how to separate by grade or homeroom teacher, but that is probably user error. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves the issue of not having good contact information for families and contacting them quickly. Other programs make it difficult to look up a student and then you have to find a device to use, but careful to not use your personal one. I also like that the student's contacts are readily available. I do not have to look up and type in any info. This platform works well for parents to contact us, too. I want the software company to create a signature line for the one sending the information out. Sometimes, I forget to remind parents of my name. It allows me to quickly and easily communicate with the families of my students. I like that I can send broadcasts to multiple families at once as well as individual messages. Communication with families is such an important part of a child's education, and I have received the most feedback from parents when I use this app versus some other means of communication. It is great for sending short reminders, and it is easy for families to check and respond to. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** I haven't found many downsides to SchoolStatus. The app continues to be improved. Occasionally, it takes a bit to load a message, but that could just be a connection issue rather than the app itself. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** My school district currently uses Seesaw as one of its main forms of communication. However, I work in a low-income school, and many of my families don't have internet access. I will get messages on Fridays that say they were actually sent on Tuesday. The options to text, email or call helps those with diverse communication which creates a multi-tiered method of maintaining clear communication which ultimately adds layers of insulation that protect the integrity of student support or reveal areas for teacher growth. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** This is truly a tough question to answer. If I could add anything to SchoolStatus it would be the option for Google Meetings at the push of a button. Sometimes that face to face or screen-to-screen communication can truly add to the efficacy of the communication. That video recording absolutely would be essential to ensure integrity on both sides of the conversation. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** The opportunity to connect with parents who are dealing with life in all of its uncertainty but also extending hours minutes and seconds of availability is what SchoolStatus provides. One of the biggest problems we face as educators is offering support to our students through parental involvement. The issue is not whether or not parents are willing to participate. The major issue is the lack of time and figuring out how to make it work in the best interest of the scholars, their families, and the community of educators. I never got around to them. To get to a school phone I only had access by going down the hall to a phone shared by a dozen or more teachers. Whenever I did make calls I would jot down notes that often were lost before getting them into a log I could locate when asked to submit them. Such contact was a nightmare for me. School Status has changed that for me. I love it because it gives me access to everything I need to make effective parent contacts with a record I can't lose. I can send emails, texts and make calls directly from my computer wherever I might be. If parent contacts mess with your sleep or otherwise causes anxiety, School Status is your answer. My only problem, if you could call it that is that I fell I have no good excuse for failure to make contact with all of the parents of my students. It actually pushes me ito action to do that. So my longer messages have to be divided into multiple messages. Which the guardian still receives everything, just in chunks instead of one long message. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** It creates communicating with guardians easy, even from home via your cell phone, without giving away your personal contact info. ### 32. I love being able to type a message to parents that they can receive immediately as a text message. It allows for fast responses. I also like the digital record that it creates for both text messages & audio recordings. This has proved to be helpful when proving that communication with a parent occurred. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** I wish it would automatically include a digital signature from the sender. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have been able to solve the problem of having a fast and easy communication method with parents. Most parents work and cannot answer the phone, but they can check text messages. SchoolStatus also documents phone calls, emails and texts that the teachers send to parents. As an administrator, I no longer have to interrupt the classroom to find out what the teacher said to the parent and then wonder what is true and what is not true. It is all documented. **What do you dislike about SchoolStatus?** I want to be fair and give a dislike, but I really cannot think of one. It is one of the most used programs in our building. Well worth the cost. **What problems is SchoolStatus solving and how is that benefiting you?** SchoolStatus solves the problem of having another option to communicate with the parents other than just making phone calls. Calling parents can be highly time-consuming, and of course, that is needed sometimes, but on a lot of occasions, we need to make parents aware of simple things, and SchoolStatus allows us to do that quickly. ### 38. Before SchoolStatus, we relied on our Student Information System, which has a clunky interface. Also, there was only one method of communication: email. Emails sent to parents were not replied to for days, weeks, and many times, never. With the ability to send a text message, this has turned around 180 degrees for our district. In fact, text messaging has proved to be overwhelming the most effective way to communicate. Best of all, we have parents that do not speak English, and SchoolStatus can translate that text from a teacher in English to Spanish, and that brings an entire group of people to the table. ### 39.
