What do you like best about Salesmate?

I really love how flexible Salesmate is to build around our branding studio’s unique workflow, instead of forcing us to adapt to a generic sales CRM. I can create custom fields that fit exactly what we track for identity design jobs: available logo revision count, brand color preference, Pinpoll survey status, and the deadline for client sign-off. I can set all of this up by myself, no IT team required. The activity timeline is my absolute lifesaver. Every email exchange, Zoom call note, and piece of design feedback gets saved right on the client’s deal page. The whole design team can jump in and catch up instantly. We had a recent project for a handmade candle brand. Halfway through the logo development, our lead designer took a planned week of PTO. Before Salesmate, the rest of us would have to dig through old emails and scattered notes to recap the client’s requests. Instead, I added the Pinpoll logo survey link and all feedback notes directly to the activity timeline. When another team member took over, they pulled up the deal record, saw the client voted for the minimalist mark, and knew exactly which revisions were approved. There was zero confusion, and we kept the project on schedule without any delay. The dashboard is clean too; I can quickly scan to see which projects are waiting for survey feedback or proposal approval. It cuts down all the chaos of jumping between separate spreadsheets and survey platforms, keeping every branding project neatly centralized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Salesmate?

My biggest frustration with Salesmate is its rigid reporting system, which is built purely for sales KPIs and doesn’t cater to creative project tracking at all. There are no pre-built reports to track Pinpoll survey completion rates, how many logo revisions each client has used, or how many active projects are stuck waiting for client design approvals. Every month, I spend hours manually exporting raw CRM data, cross-referencing it with Pinpoll, and building a custom spreadsheet to present project status to our creative director. That’s time I could spend working on brand strategy for our clients. The lack of native Pinpoll integration is another big headache. I can only paste poll links into deal records manually. When clients submit votes or comments in Pinpoll, that data never automatically syncs into Salesmate. I have to remember to log in to Pinpoll, check responses, then manually update each deal. Last quarter, we worked with a local bakery rebranding. Their Pinpoll survey closed over the weekend, and I got pulled into an urgent new client kickoff on Monday. I forgot to update the Salesmate deal to mark the poll complete. Our designer saw the deal still listed as pending survey and emailed the bakery asking them to finish voting. The client was confused and annoyed because they’d already submitted all their feedback. We had to send a lengthy apology email to smooth things over. It created unnecessary friction with the client, all because there’s no automatic sync to alert our team the poll had finished. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
