What do you like best about Rubrik?

The absolute best part about Rubrik is definitely how it handles ransomware protection and security. The immutable backups are totally a lifesaver because you know your data can't be deleted or encrypted by hackers even if they somehow get into the network. Also, it's just way easier to manage than old school legacy backup systems we used to use. The dashboard and UI are pretty clean and straightforward, so my team didn't even need a bunch of training to figure it out. The recovery speeds are super fast too, which gives us a lot of peace of mind if something goes wrong. Plus, the automated SLA policies basically save us hours every single week, so we don't have to constantly babysit the backups all day long like before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rubrik?

So one thing that's pretty annoying is how scaling up works because you have to buy whole new nodes or bricks even if you just need a little bit more storage capacity, which gets crazy expensive real fast. Also, the cloud archiving setup can be a total pain to configure right, and if you aren't super careful with your policy configurations, you end up getting hit with massive egress fees from AWS or Azure, which nobody wants. The search function for individual files can also be kinda clunky sometimes, like it takes way too long to find one specific file from an older backup state when a user accidentally deletes something. Support is usually okay, but if you hit a really weird deep technical bug, it feels like it takes forever to get passed to a tier 3 engineer who actually knows what's going on. Recommendations to others considering Rubrik:

To improve the scalability, consider offering more flexible storage expansion options that don't require purchasing entire new nodes. Simplifying the cloud archiving setup process and providing clearer guidelines on policy configurations could help avoid unexpected egress fees. Enhancing the search functionality for individual files would also be beneficial, ensuring quicker access to specific files from older backup states. What problems is Rubrik solving and how is that benefiting you?

Basically, it completely solved our ransomware panic and massive time waste every week. Before we got it, we were using this old legacy system where backups would constantly fail, and we spent hours every day just checking logs and troubleshooting errors, which was a total nightmare. Now with Rubrik, everything just runs on autopilot with the SLA rules, so my team saves at least 5 to 10 hours a week that we can actually use for other IT projects. Plus, the biggest benefit is just peace of mind because we know if we ever get hit by a cyber attack or ransomware, we can literally restore our whole environment in minutes instead of days or weeks since the data is fully locked down and immutable.
