The cap table had outgrown spreadsheets. We have founder common, four share classes from SAFEs converting at different caps and discounts, a seed round, an option pool and an outstanding convertible. Keeping that in Excel meant every question from a founder or investor turned into a rebuild, and every rebuild risked a different answer. Qapita gives us one register that reconciles, so "what's my percentage" or "what does this look like fully diluted" is a two-minute answer rather than an afternoon.

Scenario questions used to be the slow part. Our CEO regularly needs to know what ownership looks like fully diluted, fully exercised, or with the outstanding SAFE converted. Having the underlying data in a consistent structure means we can produce those views quickly and be confident they tie back to the register.

The 409A sits in the same place as the data. Getting the valuation through the same provider that holds the cap table removes a reconciliation step and gives us a defensible exercise price to build an option programme on.

We are now standing up an employee equity programme across several jurisdictions, and having the plan administration in the same system as the register is what made that practical to attempt.
