**What do you like best about PuTTY?**

What I like best about PuTTY is its simplicity and reliability as an SSH client. It offers a lightweight interface that makes it easy to connect to remote servers without unnecessary features that can complicate the user experience. The ability to customize settings such as font size, colors, and connection options enhances usability. Additionally, PuTTY supports a variety of protocols, including SSH and SCP, making it versatile for different tasks. Overall, it provides a seamless and efficient way to manage remote systems. I use PuTTY daily for remote server management and maintenance tasks. Its reliability and simplicity make it my go-to tool whenever I need to connect to Linux servers. PuTTY integrates easily with various systems and workflows, especially when paired with tools like WinSCP for file transfers. Its installation is quick and user-friendly, allowing me to connect to remote servers without hassle.

**What do you dislike about PuTTY?**

One downside of PuTTY is that it lacks a built-in file transfer interface, which means I need to use a separate tool like WinSCP for transferring files between my local machine and remote servers. Additionally, the user interface, while functional, can feel a bit outdated compared to more modern SSH clients. Lastly, the absence of a tabbed interface can be inconvenient when working with multiple sessions, as I have to open several instances of the application instead of having everything organized in a single window.

**What problems is PuTTY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PuTTY addresses the need for a reliable and secure way to access remote servers via SSH, allowing me to manage and maintain systems effectively. This tool benefits me by providing a straightforward interface for executing commands, troubleshooting issues, and securely transferring files, all of which streamline my workflow and enhance productivity.

**What do you like best about PuTTY?**

The best thing is it is open source and free to use. We can use it directly without installing it. User interface is very good. The SSH tunneling feature is very helpful when establishing connection between local machine and servers.

**What do you dislike about PuTTY?**

There should be more features like file transfers and etc which other softwares provide. It does not have features to open different servers in one screen.

**What problems is PuTTY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps in secure connection to servers with many protocols it provides like ssh and telnet. Data is secure as it provides encryptions. Regardless of the operating system the connection is easier to make. saved session option is very helpful.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lwin Min P. | Accountant, Food & Beverages, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2023

**What do you like best about PuTTY?**

What I love about Putty is it is completely Open Source and its openess is highly valued in the software community. And it supports cross-platform meaning that Putty is available on various operation systems, including windows, Linux, and MacOS.

**What do you dislike about PuTTY?**

Firstly, it is limited graphical interface. Putty is primarily a text-based terminal emulator, so it lacks the graphical user interface called GUI. Secondly, lack of native feature means that PuTTY itself offers a minimal set of features, and users often need to rely on third-party tools or scripts for advanced functionality, such as file transfers or SSH key management.

**What problems is PuTTY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PuTTY is a versatile tool that addresses the fundamental need for secure and efficient remote access to networked devices and servers. Its flexibility, security features, cross-platform support, and scripting capabilities make it a valuable choice for a wide range of users, from system administrators to developers and IT professionals like me.

  ### 10. My choice for remote mass deployment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Przemek P. | Lead, Infrastructure Specialist , Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2023

**What do you like best about PuTTY?**

Simple tool that doesn't need any big iplementation, can be set up instantly when needed. Very powerfull as it is able to process any remote commands. It helps me to update and release new software to important system with no direct access to them.

**What do you dislike about PuTTY?**

It is hard for me to say as I really like this tool and have only good expirience. But this is because we have a very secure process of using the tool with only approved and checked commands. There is no putting and custom commands to production environment - I guess that the fact it is possible and simple to achive it may generate errore when wrong command is used or something is executed unintentionally.

**What problems is PuTTY solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving the problem with direct connection or access to systems that should not be consumed a lot. They may be updated, patched and customized remotly with no phisicall interaction.
