The first impression came from Pics.io's excellent onboarding process, which includes a live human demo, excellent online documentation, and timely email responses to my questions and issues. Although Pics.io seems to have been primarily optimized as a solution for collaboration within teams, I use it as the public-facing interface for my organization's large research archive, and for those purposes, it works surprisingly well. It is the most affordable DAM solution I found because it integrates seamlessly with our Google Drive account for storage, automatically syncing asset metadata between the repository and the Pics.io UI with remarkably little lag time. The rich array of asset-handling and searching features could make the user interface complex to learn, but Pics.io is continually addressing this through their online documentation and training videos, recently adding a new "Pics.io Academy" interactive training course. It's original development as a collaboration tool for teams accounts for Pics.io's generous offering of features, but as a consequence, the interface only goes so far in offering a very simple and intuitive UI for casual outside users who are less likely to take time studying the online documentation. It appears Pics.io is aware of this and considering ways to bring the product within reach for public users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
