"The best software for flow and CO2 sequestration simulation"

What do you like best about PetraSim?

Petrasim is wonderful for 3D modelling, it allows for creating 3D georeferenced grids and surveys and then define layers and horizons (using seismic data or x, y, z data grids) and fill the space between layers with material properties such as density, porosity, permeability, thus simulating the subsurface with a lot of detail. However, where this software really shines is in the flow modules, you can module multiphase fluids and then simulate the possible injection wells, and production. Also you can even simulate CO2 sequestration for heavy oil simulations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PetraSim?

Petrasim is not a very demanding software, however while running flow simulators you definitely require good hardware. Another fact about this software that I dislike is that the demo version doesn’t allow for simulating oil, just water, and when deciding if purchasing this software this can be a deciding factor so it should be included. Recommendations to others considering PetraSim:

I truly recommend petrasim to any geologist or geophysicist, it is an amazing software that complements both petrel and opendtect in creating 3D models and predicting the amount of production you will get from your prospects. What problems is PetraSim solving and how is that benefiting you?

We normally use petrasim together with opendtect and petrel to create 3D subsurface models while exploring for oil and gas production. And since Venezuelan reserves consist mostly of heavy and extraheavy oil we use this software to simulate Co2 or hot water sequestration for oil production, we even simulate nafta injection for diluting processes.
