PayPal Payouts has been helpful for sending occasional payments without having to collect full banking details from every contractor. We can send batch payments using an email address, phone number, or PayPal ID, then review transactions in the dashboard and export the history afterward. For smaller HR workflows, that takes away a surprising amount of friction. In many cases, the email tied to a contractor’s PayPal account is enough, so sensitive banking information doesn’t need to pass between HR, managers, and Finance. As volume increases, the Payouts API makes the process more workable, since an approved payment list can be handed off to Finance without anyone retyping each amount manually. The main catch is that Payouts isn’t automatically available on every Business account. You have to request access, and your account must meet PayPal’s requirements. It’s worth confirming this early on, because it’s easy to build a payment workflow around the feature and only later find out that your account still isn’t enabled for it.
