Being able to go to one place for just about everything: time/attendance/payroll/performance management/compensation/recruitment

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

We have had issues with the Tax Department not filing on time and pushing the payment back to us to take care of.  Sometimes, customer service answers are not in depth and they seem to not know the information to help (depending on the module)

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having multiple modules on one platform saves time for administrators, managers and employees.  Easy to access several pieces of information at once.

I love all of the features that are included with Paylocity. Recruiting, HR, Data Insights, Benefits, it all lives in one place. Our service team is extremely responsive and is quick to walk us through any challenges that arise.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I haven't found any downsides yet, everything from implementation to use has been smooth.

Right now the employees love how easy to use. My managers are content with how simple it is to create schedules and keep track of timecards.

I like.  Paylocity’s customer service because it’s responsive, on target, and provides help in a timely manner.  Paylocity representatives are always very helpful throughout the process with any of the issues I presented to them.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I miss the feature that used to show how many hours for PTO and total for commissions in the payroll review process before submission.

Paylocity resolves HR issues and tax compliance challenges.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I appreciate that Paylocity truly listens when we bring issues to our representative or account manager. They take our concerns seriously, actively explore solutions, and provide clear insight into timelines for resolution.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Notifications is probably the biggest struggle that I'm having right now. And also notifying the person who handle our training that an employee has been terminated out of the system. Also not getting notifications from Paylocity when products like Checker that the background or drug screening completed. We have to constantly go and check as we're not getting any kind of notifications on that.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Paylocity for recruiting, payroll, community, data insights, onboarding, time and labor, and surveys. The updates make payroll less time-consuming and tax payments easier as we have employees in multiple states.   It helps with pre-employment drug screening and onboarding.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I like most about Paylocity are the different features and a la carte add-ons that we've integrated into our payroll system, which we didn't have before. It integrates a lot of things for us, putting everything in one place and allowing different components to communicate with each other. The performance module is integrated, and it even suggests pay raises, providing us with unique solutions and efficiencies through automation that we didn't have before.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Workflows was a feature we were initially very excited about, but unfortunately, it didn't accomplish what we were looking for due to a lack of customization. We couldn't add video content, links to videos, or different types of content we wanted to integrate. Additionally, we couldn't assign an administrator of a company set to be part of a workflow.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paylocity solved the problem of having multiple vendors for HRIS components by integrating everything in one place, improving efficiency and automation for recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and performance processes.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I enjoy using Paylocity for its seamless integration capabilities, especially with other vendors like our 403b provider, which makes HR and payroll processes incredibly smooth. The platform's capability to keep all employee data in one place is extremely helpful, as it simplifies data management and feedback collection through surveys. I also appreciate Paylocity's user-friendly interface and ease of use, which were significant factors in switching from ADP. These features enhance the overall efficiency and usability of the software, making it an indispensable tool for our HRIS needs. I am very likely to recommend Paylocity, as evidenced by my high recommendation rating of 10.

I dislike the extended hold times to get a representative on the phone and the delayed response time to emails.

when my HR Manager went on maternity leave early, without training me, I was able to contact the help desk/support and they were able to guide me so that the team could get paid timely!

nothing - except I can't seem to log in to the admin portal on my mobile

Better than paper timesheet. Love uploading to payroll to pay staff. All in one time tracking and payment. We also use it to reimburse staff expenses.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Reporting could be better. You have the pay information, but when we run cost center by day reports the wages come back as zeros, and we have to generate it ourselves.

We like the clocking in and out. we make sure staff is getting paid by the minute of what they report. easy to do final payments. Like tracking were people clock in/out from. lets us know who is being honest.

The support we receive from the Paylocity team is phenomenal and they are really easy to get in touch with. The user experience and integration has been as smooth as possible when my property transitioned into this new system. Very user friendly and performs as expected in terms of workflows and processes

The company transitioned to Paylocity because the app had more features than competitors and was end user friendly for employees. We appreciate having everything in one platform from Cobra administration to scheduling, payroll, etc.

There have been some quirks with the benefits side but have been working with support to correct issues.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I like that Paylocity’s user interface is very intuitive, which keeps everything simple and easy to navigate. The initial setup was handled really well I feel like they onboarding team set the standard very high for the service. I also appreciate the integrated recruiting and onboarding functions, which make the process of hiring new employees feel seamless.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

The fee structure is higher than we’d like to pay. I also wish they offered more tax advice, my opinion is that a payroll company should be able to provide at least some guidance in that area. Another issue is that our account manager seems to change fairly often, but to their credit, each manager has been knowledgeable enough to help us whenever we need it.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paylocity has been a one-stop shop for onboarding and payroll, and it saves me time compared with the limited software I used in the past. Customer service is also readily available and answers my questions quickly, which makes the overall experience smoother.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I like that Paylocity offers a variety of functions and modules, which is really helpful for our complex organization. I enjoy the Time and Labor compliance feature specifically for California employees because it provides automated updates with informational articles and specific dates that help us keep track of important items. I believe the Benefits feature is one of the best because it's easy to enroll. Onboarding is also a great feature for streamlining the onboarding process.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

It seems like there is a disconnect between each feature, and things don't run smoothly in the backend, creating additional work to update the information. The system is not smart enough to trigger changes that translate to all the different modules, requiring additional manual work. The accruals feature is not great, as it creates many questions from our employees since it's not updating in real-time, leading to discrepancies and audits that need to be performed. We use it with EDI to connect file feeds to our vendors, but this function is not fully operational since we have employees in American Samoa, which creates some issues. There was a big learning curve with the initial setup. We've completed one year, and we are still not using all the features as we're trying to fix issues from the original setup. We still have a lot to learn from the system. There are too many glitches, but overall it fulfills the purpose of the HRIS.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paylocity simplifies managing complex GLs and costings for a multistate organization, creating a seamless experience for benefits enrollment. I value the automated Time and Labor compliance updates and appreciate its onboarding feature for streamlining processes.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

It is super user friendly. I started using Paylocity about 3 years ago and I had no problem navigating and learning. Anything I needed help with, it was super easy to call their support line and speak to either my account manager or another assistant. They walk you through exactly what you need and they are always such nice employees. I also like they seem to update their system to approve but not too much. I like how they have their entire layout of their site.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

The only thing I would have to say is when you add an employees direct depsoit and you skip the pre note, the date is always a year behind. I am not sure if this is a glitch but it's been like that since I started using their system.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They most recently updated the way you run payroll. At first it took a minute to get use to the change, but once I started using it, I like it much better. They also provided a training class online before they ruled this out to show you how it works. And instead of intanstly implementing it, they had both payroll layouts so you can smoothly transition to the update.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I do like the ease of use and the fact that it is a very flexible system.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

The system is not intuitive. Many things I want to accomplish with the software's flexibility always require phone calls and multi-step configurations that are not easy to complete on my own. I always have to wait for a call back. I do not like the new billing. I don't get a copy of the bill before it is drafted from my bank account, and since the new billing protocol, the bill is ready on different days each month, which is not predictable. My two 'salespeople' are useless. I am disappointed in the accruals team, as I have been waiting for a time off policy to be completed since mid-December. The response time in support has worsened since December; there's no excuse as I waited on the phone for support for 40 minutes on Wednesday.

I had to learn payroll without training, and Paylocity has been a lot of help. I like its ease of use and flexibility.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I use Paylocity for payroll, onboarding, time and labor, and HR. I find it fast and user-friendly, which means my staff requires less training. I like the help area and that the service line responds quickly to issues, handling them fast, making my staff happy as it prevents delays in the services we provide. I also appreciate the onboarding aspect.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

We recently added a new location from Paychex to Paylocity, and the person we got to set up our account isn't very good. She wasn't prepared for meetings, didn't do good reviewing our register, and when we asked for things to be completed with PTO policies, she would say all set but never did the policies or they were incorrect. Canceling meetings and working from home wasn't professional or quiet.

Paylocity is fast and user-friendly, reducing training needs for my staff. The help area and service line handle issues quickly, preventing delays in our payroll services.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I use Paylocity daily in my Human Resources role. It helps me pull reports quickly, which is really handy. I appreciate the onboarding process for new hires, and it also helps ensure each employee is set up correctly. I like having a representative available who is very responsive when we have questions. I find the surveys helpful, as they allow me to send out 45 and 90 day reviews to employees. The workflows feature is great for pushing things out to employees all at once.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

There are tons of things I can think of. In recruiting, when one person applies to multiple jobs, it doesn't track that as one 'employee profile'. It's confusing at times, because we have a new recruiter who doesn't know, and will reach out to applicants that we shouldn't. But she wouldn't know, because those notes are on a different application. They could've applied with a different email, so it doesn't show. That is something every single other ATS system I have used had. So, recruiting could be a lot better. On the HR side, there seems to be little things we can't do.

I use Paylocity to pull reports quickly, onboard new hires, ensure employee setup, send out 45 and 90-day reviews with surveys, and push workflows to employees all at once.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I find the integrations Paylocity offers to be very helpful, particularly with Employee Navigator, which simplifies employee enrollment and avoids duplicate work. The Employee Voice section is also beneficial, allowing us to send surveys and analyze results without needing external tools like SurveyMonkey. I appreciate how easy it is to navigate Paylocity, whether I'm working on performance reviews or accessing the time and labor section, without having to sift through a multitude of workflows. The initial setup went really well, thanks to a great job by the integration team and Paylocity’s intuitive design, which made it easy for us to figure out.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I don't like that sometimes Paylocity's updates create inefficient ways of navigating the program. It's confusing when there are multiple different ways to do the same thing, making it hard to learn the platform and keep processes organized. It would help if they updated their manuals to remove outdated information so when I search for how to do something, I'm not seeing steps that are no longer accurate after an update.

Paylocity is user-friendly, which helps me assist employees regardless of their tech skills, and its automated processes reduce manual work. Integrated tools like Employee Navigator prevent duplicate work, and the Employee Voice section centralizes survey analytics, cutting down on multiple logins.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

The ACA reporting section is nice and easy. I also think the data insights is very helpful and a good way to get a quick look at company data.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Reporting is not always accurate. I wish supervisors could send the performance revies of their direct reports to other managers for collaboration (Currently i have to assign another reviewer manually). You can't future date payroll things, or it will throw off the current payroll. We currently have HR& Payroll and Bwsift (benefits on separate platform) The two teams HR&P and Benefits don't talk to each other. When I ask one a question, they will say that's a benefits question and won't offer further assistance or even copy in the benefits team. We are trying to implement the Ben Admin through Paylocity to get rid of Bswift, but we can't even get a call with the Benefits team to do this. Our sales rep tried to get us a call, but we've been ghosted and they won't respond to our emails. 
I also don't like how you can't do many back-end things yourself. You have to put in a ticket for a rep to do it, and sometimes they don't understand, they don't do it correctly, or it messes other things up.

I'm not sure what this question means. Not everything is user friendly. WHen i call in for support, they usually don't know the answers either so I don't usually trust them.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I like Paylocity because it makes payroll easy and has the ability to create trainings, which is really helpful for us since we have a lot of training needs. Being able to create and track these trainings is great.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

When I call for customer service, I am often given conflicting information. This causes internal errors because we ask for assistance and are given wrong information, we then have to correct it and a different customer service rep says something else. Another thing I would like to see is when there is a known problem, like the current issue with document acknowledgement, we should be told ahead of time, so we don't go down a rabbit hole trying to solve a problem that Paylocity currently knows about and has no solution for.

Paylocity solves the need for multiple platforms, making payroll easy and allowing us to create and track necessary trainings efficiently.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

Very user friendly, probably the most user-friendly HRIS software I have ever used. I like how all aspects of HR are in one place; recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, payroll, etc.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Sometimes the experience on the app is not as good as on the web browser - laggy, don't have access to all features, etc. I'm sure this is by design, but still slightly aggravating when I need to do something and I'm not by my computer.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like I said before, having everything in one place. It is one less password I need to remember, quite frankly.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

One of Paylocity’s biggest strengths is its breadth of features and its employee-facing tools. Employees generally find the self-service portal easy to navigate, and features like onboarding workflows, document management, and announcements help streamline communication across the company. The reporting capabilities are improving but they are not intuitive and ineffective until you learn how to use them effectively.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Paylocity has definitely had its ups and downs. Some features feel unintuitive, and there can be a learning curve—especially for administrators. System updates don’t always improve usability and can occasionally create new issues. Support experiences have been mixed: while some representatives are knowledgeable and helpful, response times and consistency can vary, which can be frustrating when you’re dealing with time-sensitive payroll or benefits issues. We're also struggling because we're left with a new benefits account manager, when the last one was assigned 5 months ago and barely had time to get to know us.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we started with Paylocity in 2022, or payroll and time keeping system was completely antiquated. Paylocity helped bring core HR/payroll functions into the 20th century. It has also helped with our communication across our company.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

The best part of Paylocity is the Employee onboarding workflow. The I-9 verification process is part of the process and it is seamless and easy. We also have our equipment inventory as part of the employee profile when staff are onboarded. Fantastic!

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I would like to see more flexibility with the approval workflow for all the managers in the performance management module. Currently, we are only allowed to  have HR and the direct supervisor as approvers. I would like to add the department head along with the direct supervisor.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We recently ended our vendor relationship with our employee recognition company and since Paylocity offers a recognition platform, we are good to go!

I like that Paylocity is always being improved and offers so many features. It's great to have everything in one place, especially a system that does so much. The automation in recruiting and onboarding that flows straight to payroll is very helpful. The onboarding feature is what I use most and works the best.

Sometimes there are random bugs or "PDRs" that pop up with no resolution. Although the system has many features, sometimes I think it does too much because no feature is perfect and they may be spread thin. The initial set up was challenging. We had an implementation consultant who did not seem to understand the product or our needs which resulted in several modules not functioning properly for us.

Paylocity helps store documents and employee data securely, offering an all-in-one system. The automations in recruiting and onboarding that flow into payroll are really helpful.

The platform high degree of customizability is its strongest technical asset, once you move past the initial setup, you can dive deep into granular settings for pay types, taxability, and complex PTO accruals. I particularly value the Check Calculator feature, which allows for manual check inputs outside the main run while maintaining total ledger accuracy.

While features rich, the platform can be overwhelming to implement all at once due to the sheer density of its modules. There is a noticeable learning curve for advanced configurations like LMS or bespoke analytics, which often requires dedicated administrative training to master.

Paylocity effectively solves the problem of "fragmented HR" unifying payroll, time tracking, and expense management into a single source of truth. It has automated our baseline compliance tasks, especially for government forms and tax filings, which provides significant releif during audit season.

I like the Payroll aspects of Paylocity and that you can upload so many files to the employee files.

The reporting can be hit or miss especially trying to run specific dates because you have to use payroll dates. Many of the customer service reps are not very friendly when you call in the on the phone line for help. Some are fantastic but others not so much.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I like that Paylocity gives us the ability to have more streamlined processes and a better user-friendly experience compared to our previous system. It has made our HR tasks easier and more time-efficient. We have more control over our operations now, which is great for both our HR team and employees. Paylocity's features, like allowing us to complete paperwork electronically, significantly save us time. The recruiting tools are also helpful, making scheduling and managing candidate information much easier. I find the learning management system valuable for building and tracking training, and the reporting features are awesome since we can build different types of reports easily.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I don't have anything that I dislike about Paylocity at least that comes to the top of my head. There are just a number of enhancements that I would like to see. Speaking from some of my areas of responsibility, I would like to see the LMS being built out more to really design effective trainings, as we currently have to outsource and then upload it into the system. I'd love to see a question bank for the LMS as well. The ability to trigger trainings should go beyond just certain workflows like onboarding. I'd also like to change the group of Paylocity trainings to a specific one that works for us, avoiding the need to individually assign trainings. If I have to choose something I dislike, would say that we can not change who performance reviews are assigned to and there are other areas that we don't have full control over such as time off features. Additionally, there were a lot of challenges during the initial setup, with many delays and data not being properly inputted, along with delays in response times from the implementation team. The lack of communication and misinformation made the experience challenging.

Paylocity streamlines our HR processes, reducing manual work with electronic paperwork. It's user-friendly, making HR tasks easier and time-efficient. The recruiting and onboarding features simplify scheduling and candidate tracking, saving us time. Reports and employee access to information enhance our efficiency.

**What do you like best about Paylocity?**

I have a deep appreciation for Paylocity's organized migration plan, which made the transition seamless and not difficult for us. It effectively solved significant issues we had with our previous provider, such as tax problems and unsatisfactory customer service. I'm impressed with the superior reporting capabilities Paylocity offers, which stand out compared to other systems we've evaluated. The mobile app is notably better and more functional, enhancing usability for our team. Features like recruiting, onboarding, and time and labor management are outstanding, with performance management being very good. The reliability, accuracy, and intuitiveness of the system make it user-friendly, especially the benefits module, which I find particularly strong and easy to manage for our staff. Additionally, the competitive pricing and much better customer support compared to previous providers are noteworthy. Overall, most of these features are superior to alternatives we've considered, contributing to an overall positive experience with Paylocity.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I find it challenging that the benefits module in Paylocity is treated almost completely separate from HRIS and payroll. This separation can create inefficiencies, as I would prefer these functionalities to be more integrated. Additionally, the support is separated between benefits and the rest of the system, which sometimes makes it less helpful. It would be significantly more beneficial to have a unified support system that can address all aspects comprehensively.

Paylocity resolved our tax issues, improved customer service, and enhanced reporting with a better mobile app, providing a reliable and accurate system that's intuitive and easy for users.  We also had numerous problems with payroll runs, usually around taxes and terminated employees, and those have gone away.

I like the ease of use of Paylocity, and the website has been updating with new features that make my life easier. I can run payroll in about 5 minutes, which is really convenient. Additionally, the price is better than what we had with our previous product, and their customer service is always reachable, which is important to me. The initial setup wasn't hard at all because we had a great representative who personally came to our shop to help us get this set up.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

I had a few issues trying to get previous checks for one of my employees, somehow the new year 2026 came in and I had difficulty accessing the 2025 paystubs.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paylocity helps with paying employees on time, and I can process payroll from home. It's easy to use and updates with new features. I can run payroll in about 5 minutes.

Once you get the right rep the customer service is outstanding! Tax compliance department is one of the few that I trust in and HRIS system/tax filings.

**What do you dislike about Paylocity?**

Onboarding during an acquisition. We would have very short notice of an acquisition from legal and the sales guy from Paylocity would give us pushback. We would pretty much just have our current company earnings/deductions, etc copied with minimal changes and we would still receive pushback on setup.

**What problems is Paylocity solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had trouble with our rep in the past. We have a new one assigned to us and she has been wonderful. Instead of sending us instructions on how to set something up, she will ask what the need is and set it up and ask us to test it.
