## PaperCut Reviews
  ### 1. 12 Years of Loving PaperCut!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmed H. | Software Specialist, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

One new thing I like about PaperCut is how it keeps improving scanning workflows, especially with Scan Reporting and Scan Archiving in PaperCut MF 24.1. I also like the new Print Deploy client view because deploying queues to individual computers makes support and rollout work more flexible.

Another good change is support for Windows Protected Print, which helps modernize print environments and gives admins a smoother path for compatible devices. On top of that, PaperCut’s newer licensing approach in MF 24 makes subscription management and entitlements easier to handle across environments.

If I were answering in a more personal writer-style way, I’d say this: PaperCut feels like it is moving from just print control to a broader workplace management platform, and that’s what I like most.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

PaperCut is strong, but it could still improve by making advanced settings easier to configure, polishing scan navigation, and reducing version-related printer issues. And personally, we want in our company to be able to scan to SharePoint on-premises, not just in the cloud.

It would also benefit from even smoother mobile printing and simpler policy management for busy IT teams.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1- No problems. The benefits are it's very convenient. Easy to easy. Prints in mins after you log in.
2- Accurate tracking and analytics of print costs and overall printing metrics, while ensuring that sensitive information is printed securely per user. Additionally, our employees now have the ability to print to any copier within the building on the fly securely using their own secure print box.
3- Being able to monitor who is printing and charge accordingly so it saves money through getting more than 30 types of reports.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Heya Ahmed, thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts. Very excited to see WPP mentioned. Microsoft's deadline is fast approaching (2027 at this stage I believe) and it's vitally important that workplaces have a plan for their printer fleet (especially the older models) for this driverless new world we're about to enter. More here: https://www.papercut.com/discover/the-complete-guide-to-windows-protected-print-wpp/

I did some burrowing to explore your sadness around the inability to scan to SharePoint on-premises. It looks like using a middleware solution is a good bet for you - something Umango, which is sold by one of our Authorized Solution Centers, ecoprintQ.

I'll pop the link below for you to explore.

  ### 2. Papercut a great printer management solution for Mac and Windows

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dylan A. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The local Papercut MSP we use to lease our printers and license Papercut through is difficult to work with. This is not necessarily Papercut's fault, but because we have to go through them as a licenser we have to go through them for support and it is a longer than preferable process to get Papercut's direct support.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

There have been multiple instances of Papercut updates that break printing on MacOS. Usually this is easily solved with an update to the Papercut software on the server running it, but it would be nice if the automatic updates to the Papercut clients on the end user machines wouldn't break printing on slightly behind server software.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Papercut is bridging the gap between Macbook and Windows computers in our environment. Instead of having to provision the same printer twice in each environment we provision it once in Papercut and scope it to the appropriate staff groups.

Papercut's "Follow Me" printing has also helped solve the issue of staff that move around our large school district. They can print to the "follow me" option and retrieve that job anywhere in the district they may be.

  ### 3. PaperCut : Simple, Reliable, and Cost-Effective Print Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2026

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

“PaperCut” is how easy it is to use while still offering powerful print management features. It helps organizations reduce printing costs, track usage efficiently, and improve security. I also appreciate its user-friendly interface, reliable performance, and the flexibility to work well in both small businesses and large enterprise environments.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

One thing I dislike about “PaperCut” is that some advanced settings and configurations can feel a bit complex for new users. The interface is generally user-friendly, but certain administrative tasks may require additional training or technical knowledge. In some cases, troubleshooting printer connectivity or driver issues can also take more time than expected.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

“PaperCut” helps solve problems related to uncontrolled printing, high paper and toner costs, and lack of visibility into printer usage. It allows us to track and manage printing activity more efficiently, reduce waste, and improve document security with features like secure print release. This benefits us by lowering operational costs, saving time for administrators, and creating a more organized and environmentally friendly printing environment. The solution is competitive with similar solutions and offers extensive integration with other software. This solution is well worth the money.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Whoa! Thanks so much for the thoughtful review. It’s great to hear that PaperCut’s ease of use, cost‑saving features, and security benefits are making a real difference for your organisation.

I definitely appreciate your feedback on advanced configurations as well. We’re always working to make the admin experience even smoother. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience on G2.

  ### 4. Really cut down on printing costs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clay B. | Sr Network/Systems Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The way we use papercut, it's more of a set and forget. We use it for cost tracking. We look at the reports, at that's about it for right now.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

It won't disable users that are disabled in AD when it syncs. We eventually hit the license limit, and it's a pain, but it's not a huge deal.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We haed an issue wiht prints costs. This is letting us track who is using the most paper and/or ink and toner.

  ### 5. Easy to Manage and Integrate, but Support and Copier Compatibility Fall Short

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason L. | System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Ease of management, ease of integration, ease of accounting.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Support , or lack of direct support. Not all copiers supported despite claims.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are large private school, with a student body in the thousands and faculty in the hundreds. We have been using PaperCut for over ten years to manage our fleet of over 200 printers and over 20 copiers. We get the latest Xerox copiers and Brother printers from our VAR. This is our 3rd complete fleet refresh when support fell off the rails completely to make us doubt whether they know what they are selling. While it streamlines management with full integration with our hybrid environment seamlessly, we face struggles with support, or rather lack of. We are forced to deal with our VAR's divided support (they support all the printers / copiers they sell for all their customers) for 1st and 2nd level, and after them is main national reseller of PaperCut's support department when it needs to escalate to 3rd level, when some problems are clearly for developer to solve and only them. They have all quietly admitted to me they have not seen the latest Xerox copiers in person - specifically the PrimeLink C92xx - so how can they possibly assume to help me? It appears PaperCut is developed in Australia and does not appear to have a U.S.-based support.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Hi Jason,

Thanks a heap for sharing your story. I would love the opportunity to dive deeper into what's happening if that's cool with you.

If you could contact customer.experience@papercut.com, I'll be very keen to understand your experience.

  ### 6. Reliable and Exciting products in development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Geoff I. | ICT Service Desk Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Always easy to use and very reliable. I am really keen to see us as we venture towards PaperCut Hive and how that can help with our strategic outcomes in future.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Papercut were a bit slow to support ARM and their feature set of PaperCut Hive is still missing some of the features of PaperCut MF. Speed of development of Hive features.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Papercut manages a great interface for users to use the photocopiers with and allows for RFID login to photocopiers. Print charging is also used widely

  ### 7. Stopped Working and Customer Support was terrible

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan T. | Chief Operating Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

When it worked, it was a relatively smooth interface

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

The Papercut print option on my fairly new (<4 month old) windows laptop stopped appearing. After about 3 hours of uninstalling and reinstalling and running logs, I figured out that the software kept reporting that the WTS was Disconnected when it should not have been and the trigger was me locking my machine. I sent detailed logs to the support team and they replied that I should try factory resetting my laptop. V unhelpful.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It supposedly helps me print in a shared office environment.

  ### 8. Great product to manage all printers within your organization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joran G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2023

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

PaperCut continues to be reliable and easy to manage. The reporting features provide great visibility into printer usage and costs, while secure print release helps improve security. Regular updates and centralized printer management make administration straightforward.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

The overall experience remains very positive. Some advanced settings could be easier to configure, and the administration interface could be more streamlined for complex tasks. Other than that, the product meets our needs well.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Insights and ability to centrally manage our printers.

  ### 9. Does the job and is widely supported

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The bugs, ironically, enough. Publicly listed "Known Issues" page means I don't waste hours troubleshooting something that's above my paygrade.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Better Azure Single Sign On support would be nice

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a school tracking student and teacher printing. Mostly we just need to be able to put limits on student printing but being able to view reports on faculty printing is very useful too.

  ### 10. Simplified Print management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon G. | Help Desk Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Software is so easy to manage as well as being very customizable. Their Implementation team as well as support has been impeccable.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

At this point, I have nothing negative to say about the product.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Papercut allowed us to inforce and manage secure print with badge access at a global level.
Integrations with AD makes maintaining users and badges numbers a breeze.
