I like that OpenAsset improves our team’s workflow efficiency by moving project and employee images and information off the server, while still letting us organize everything through its tagging and ranking system. The INDD plug-in is incredibly useful; it helps the team work faster and produce marketing assets more quickly.
The defined user groups and associated permission levels also give the marketing team peace of mind, since they can ensure that what goes into the system has been approved by them. They’re also able to control what can be used by other license holders within the firm, which is a big plus. Hopefully, this will allow people to access what they need without having to go to the marketing team every time.
Overall, the system performs well, and I’ve found it to be a very useful investment for the firm. While getting OpenAsset set up can be tedious depending on how many assets and how much historical project information you’re working with, the implementation and customer success managers are excellent and will guide you through the process. If your firm works with large volumes of historical project information and images, it can be challenging to pull everything together at the start—especially if those assets weren’t fully captured or organized in the first place. That said, the process of importing the information into OpenAsset is fairly straightforward. The bigger lift is the prep work: getting the files and details cleaned up and structured beforehand can be cumbersome and time-consuming if it hasn’t been managed well prior to the implementation. However, this can be a good point at which project/employee information is reviewed by studio teams for the most current images/info. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
