What do you like best about Odoo?

Being an open source ERP/CRM with full suite of business apps and giving the user the freedom to extend the code is a huge advantage most ERP providers don't have. This is especially true for businesses that are obliged to maintain sovereignty over it's data and local management thereof.

Odoo is also quiet affordable for small businesses and startups, with a mature RESTful API that enable quick extensions and integrations with other platforms, not to mention the plethora of integrations already provided out of box and throup the App Store.

The UI in Odoo is not the most powerful yet, but recent developments are showing that the company is not ignoring that area and that further imporvements are on the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Odoo?

It's unfortunate that Odoo's documentation couldn't be worse. It's feature-centric rather than process-centric, making it difficult for a business user to follow. Also, the writing is redundant yet not informative, stalling for many areas of the product, and mostly not useful to solve common problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Odoo solving and how is that benefiting you?

I used to use, and actually became later the sole implementor of Oracle NetSuite in the company I work for. NetSuite's exaggerating costs and exponential growth thereof soon led to have a minimal set of features implemented for a very expensive quarterly bill. Also, having the system asa a closed source product, data backups and management were a nightmare, let alone the fact that the data models exposed to the user are differnet between differnet feature. You open a Saved Search to see an exposed table that is exposed as three distinct ones under the Analytics feature.

When I implemented Odoo, I required that it would be deployed over Odoo.sh, and I gained full access to the database, enabling me to examine the data model, mainpulate it using Python ORM or SQL, and experiment with soluations at will. The performance of these tools led to quick prototyping of solutions, rapid deployments, and quick fixes to bugs and issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
