It's a one-time payment for lifetime use of the software, with optional upgrades over time. I've been using Nitro PDF for over 10 years now and it's paid for itself countless times over compared to paying ongoing subscriptions. It's easy to use and it's powerful for all the basic PDF editing I do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's honestly not much I don't like about it. If I was to be really picky, I'd say that sometimes when I insert images printed to PDF, it doesn't automatically resize it to A4 like the other pages if it's a different size (unless I just don't know how to do that), but that's rarely an issue.
