Once your systems are corrupted or destroyed users cannot do anything about it. It should provide various redundancy options that help to accurately manage data. Its interface should be improved more as it slows down sometimes. You can impose your policies for backup data.

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

The best thing about this software is that let you migrate all your documents, photos, music, and any file to the cloud to it secured servers, making them accessible through any device, so anyone of your team work can access them and work together anywhere. It allow you to reduce the used space disk and the best of all is that you don't have to spen no even a peny.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

I really love how i can access all my files and work them from anywhere, the things that i think that can be improved about this software are in first place, the initial setup, it should be more easy to start to use, you need to be a little experience with this kind of soft to make run well at first try. The user interface can be also improved, make it look more up to date and professional. And use publicity to make it more known and more people use it.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

I recommend this software to people work through many devices and who like to access to all their files no matter what device are they connect from. To people who would like to have a better communication with coworkers. It haves a lot of options and to the price, are a excellent option to try.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems that we solved with NextCloud are, that now all the members of the team can access to the work files up to date. We're more synchronize, we reduce the disk storage and the most important thing is that now we spend less money at office as this tool are completly free.

  ### 17. Nextcloud is a self-hosted cloud storage solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David B. | Information Technology Analyst, Hospitality, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

Nextcloud is so easy to use and it really helped us in storage and keeping every files and documents. The great ability of this software is that we are able to store our documents, files and information and also maintained important information that is always secured and password protected. At anywhere, we can edit our files and documents in a instantly way. Nextcloud is the great software for keeping our files and data in a well organized way.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The disadvantage of this software is that all of its functions are very difficult because sometimes it is very slow to start and sometimes it may slow in accessing the previous files when you have save the large amount of data. Nextcloud one of the most expensive services on the market, as compared to the main cloud backup programs. It can be difficult to setup initially.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nextcloud is a great cloud storage service, it is very secure and reliable, so you should not worry about the integrity of your data. I can easily save any type of files and connect from anywhere and at anytime. It has a verity of good features, and many unique features of Nextcloud which really helps in storage.

  ### 18. Premium features at zero costs

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank B. | DevOps engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

We are running Nextcloud on a local server, it's easy to have customer-related files stored in our cloud.
Some use the desktop client but most of us use the browser to up/download and manage our files.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Some file extensions (.ai/.psd/.exe) sometimes are not syncing properly with the desktop client, it's not really an issue if one file fails to sync, but its really a pain that the sync stops completely on the first error that occurs. It would be better if there's an option to skip the failed file and continue syncing

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

It's free, it's really fast, but you do need a little bit of knowledge on setting it up.
It also supports complete docker/docker-compose images to boot up a pre-made stack so you can just hook up a domain and start using your private cloud.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to use OneDrive, but the pricing is so high compared to how we use it (per person + per month payment). Running Nextcloud on a local server is exactly what fits our needs.

  ### 19. All my files available and more free space on my computer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabio P. | Business Developer , Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Great service for companies who have a lot of files and data to store. This works as a storage online for all your videos, documents, data, anything that might take a lot of computer space, now can be storage online and always accessible with a simple click.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Took me a while to understand how to not sync all the documents in my computer, because the point of the tool is to also have more free space on my laptop. Its possible to turn the sync off, but its not easy for those who are not familiar with the tool.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More available space on my laptop to create presentations. Faster system.

  ### 20. Convenient, secure and streamlined

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

The interface is clean and streamlined, much like a desktop file browser in a web app. You can easily set up new users with varying permissions, and can vary user permissions by folder or subfolder. You can also send links to files for access, requiring a password or not and vary permissions accordingly.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

It would be useful to be able to configure the view, by including more columns (e.g. filetype, uploaded by..) and then of course to re-order/re-size the displayed columns. If there is a way to do this it’s not intuitive enough to figure out.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Securely sharing files between a small team, some of whom work remotely. Can easily then provide access to subsets of documents externally via link and password as opposed to providing logins.

  ### 21. Nextcloud experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex Z. | Coordinador de Infraestructura Tecnológica y Seguridad de la Información, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

it is extremely customizable, it has a large number of apps that exponentially increase its use, it has a large development community that keeps it updated

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

It does not allow to add multiple local data storage, only in a directory all user files are saved

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Plan and project the amount of users and storage to use when installing your own instance of nextcloud

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows users to access and share their files from anywhere without having to stay in their jobs, thanks to the integration with openfire and zimbra, they can stay communicated in real time which increases their productivity

  ### 22. Easy and Organized

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabio P. | Business Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Easy tool and allows me to create more space on my latptop. Works like a cloud, where I can have all my documents and access them anytime from any device.
This helps me to keep folders of my clients and share them with my team/company.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

So far we are happy with the tool and we hope that it continues that way.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have more space to use for other things, such as presentations, instead of having a full computer full o data, which can make it slow.

  ### 23. Nextcloud ... it's your next pain.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas S. | CIO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

It's open source and looks great. The features looks good.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

We have spent more than two days to try to get it running:

1) We have used the Ubunu snap setup
It was great: we could immediately log in.
The configuration was the 1st pain:
snap has only has a very rudimentary documentation. Just try to find the Apache directory and try to change a mariadb, apache or nextcloud property. We either were not able the right property name (missing docs) or we were in the readonly snap directory.
There are hacks to mount snap direcotries so we can write - but we're pretty sure our settings will be lost with the next update.

2) Manual Linux installation
Nextcloud has godd looking but useless docs: you will not find a simple step by step setup doc for e.g. the latest Ubuntu Server. The end? Use google to find 2rd party tutorials. Most will not work with an up to date OS like the latest Ubuntu. Some tutorials work nice, but you will get a very old, not supported Nextcloud V13. Update? Read the next chapter.

3) Update
This is a real shame. The step by step instructions do not work, if you spend 1h and use google, you can get it running.
Of course, the 1st attempt fails, because you probably will upgrade from version 13 to 15. The Docs do not mention that its not possible to skip one version. Restore the backup, start from beginning. The tutorial talks about executing a phar file - which does not exist. Google solves the problem.
After 2h try and error, you finally get "success!".
As soon as we open the website, we get: Internal Server Error
"Check the log file", they write - but the do not mention the path to them. /var/log/nextcloud does not exists.

We spend some hours fixing well-known errors, unfortunately, the solution is not documented. Google is your friend: fix the 1st error, restart apache, google for the next error, restart apache, google for the next error, …

Once, Nextcloud displayed an explicit error on the login page and a non-clickable URL to solve the issue. Copy / Paste the URL - and guess what? "Page not found"

Nextcloud was our last pain.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Wait 2 years.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We werenot able to get Nextcloud up and running stable.

  ### 24. More free space on my computer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Claus S. | Referent Öffentlichkeitsarbeit & Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

It helps me to keep my documents and company documents organized and all the time available, so that I can have more free space on my computer and access those datas from anywhere.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The synchronisation on the computer takes a long time.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me to keep my files available anytime and anywhere and free storage on my company laptop.

  ### 25. Great do-it-yourself cloud service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Being able to have control over where my data is stored.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

It can be a bit clunky in places, and it is a little slow on some devices.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

You can install it yourself, even on a Raspberry Pi, so you have control over where your data is stored.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to have control over where our data was stored, and Nextcloud allows us to do this.

  ### 26. Nice service of cloud

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felipe R. | SAC, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

I am using right now at work. It's the "official" service of cloud that all employees are using. I like because all default files and programs of company is there. Good limit of storage

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Isn't all employees using the service right now

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Try to synchronize in desktop version. Create a folder in your desktop synchronized.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transfer files is too easy right now, you just need to upload what you want to the cloud. I can open all my files at any sector of the company

  ### 27. NextCloud Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brooklyn C. | Pharmacy Intern, Pharmaceuticals, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Licensing and pricing policies: all the official components of Nextcloud are both free as in freedom and as in free beer. You pay only for support and update services. That's not the case with ownCloud.
Long-term roadmap: at the moment, ownCloud seems to be more focused on corporate customers and more relevant for investors, while Nextcloud seems to be more focused on extending "direct" user-to-user communication and cooperation features.
Security: Nextcloud refuses continuous (that is, malicious) attempts to authenticate from any computer, except those whose IP addresses are included in "brute-force IP whitelists". (Of course, the best possible whitelist you can configure is an empty one.)

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

There are some cons of using Next Cloud that are worth mentioning. You (usually, but not necessarily) have to self host, which also means implementing and owning your own backup policy. In addition, sometimes upgrades break if you have lots of apps enabled. This is also more frustrating as sometimes the web interface can be a bit slow on some systems, especially on one of the Arm boxes I use. I run into problems with the web interface not loading data e.g. list of users, but loading the menu, top bar, and footer.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

In its simplest form, the Nextcloud server is "just" a personal, free software alternative to services like Dropbox or iCloud. You can set it up so your files are always accessible via the internet, from wherever you are, and share them with your friends. However, Nextcloud can do so much more. I highly recommend it for all considering some type of secure, yet user friendly storage software.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enhanced storage of files in a safe and secure manner

  ### 28. Excellent Cloud Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason M. | CEO, Lead Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Feature-complete cloud on my own hosting. PIM tools. Good LDAP integration. Desktop clients.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

You need to host and administrate it yourself for it to be free.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to run multiple instances.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nothing special
We use it as our IT admin selected it

  ### 30. Best Cloud Software out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Handles all my storage for files and photos. I can access my stuff from anywhere, mobile, work PC, home, tablets, etc. Replaces Apple Music Match and iCloud storage. No increased fixed cost with increased storage. I said good bye to storage full messages.I can just add another disk in my home server.
With my fiber internet 100Mbps Upload I have a great speed from anywhere.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Takes time to set up. You need to be a techy and not be scared of Linux to set it up correctly. The tutorials to actually help with your configuration are all over the place in the internet.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Go for it, it's the best thing I did last year. I'm extremely happy to have my own server. I first tried a off the shelf NAS but that was too slow. This is excellent.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personal cloud, not exposed to marketing abuse as Google, Amazon and others would do. Privacy and no storage limits.

  ### 31. Cloud Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan R. | Executive Vice President Of Sales and Customer Relations, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

I like how easy it is to implement cloud services through Nextcloud. We’re able to host it on our own servers as well.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

I don’t like the options available to me in terms of apps that can be installed. Productivity isn’t the best.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We’ve solved the need for a centralized cloud system and I have realized the application benefits that follow.

  ### 32. Self hosted Google Docs? Sign me up!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

I love that Nextcloud allows me to have very Google Docs/Calendar/Drive like functionality that can be completely self-hosted. I have concerns about the privacy of my data and this helps me to feel better about who is controlling my data (me). I also like how active the community is and how easy it is to find answers to my questions. The community support that I've seen has been really great and I'm glad to be using software that has such a thriving community. Finally, I love love love how many apps there are for Nextcloud. There's a great feed reader app, an e-mail client, several calendar apps, and all sorts of other apps that make this a great groupware solution for personal/SMB users.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The thing that I dislike the most is the fact that updates tend to break my install. I don't know if this is because my hosting provider has some controls in place that block part of the update or what. I don't know that I would have these issues if I had Nextcloud hosted on my own server, but whatever the reason is, all of my updates have been rough. Now when I want to update, I just back up my data, build from scratch, and reconfigure everything. It takes more time, but I have the benefit of not having to worry about a broken install.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

If you need a groupware solution for personal use or for an SMB, please consider Nextcloud. It's wonderful software that provides a lot of functionality and can make your personal intranet or SMB look years ahead of the competition.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is a great groupware solution. If you don't have an Intranet, or you don't subscribe to services such as Office 365, or gSuite, this can solve a lot of problems for you. It provides great collaboration and groupware functionality that is really easy to use and administer.

  ### 33. The Onsite, offsite file server with so so much more

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Nextcloud even at the unpaid level has a huge number of very useful features which link into both desktop and mobile really well, making working while in or out of the office and syncing important files something you never have to think about. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The Docker resources are slow to update which is a shame as the new features look great

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Start with the ease of backing up files, and expand to the access off site, add a sprinkle of ToTP (2FA) and enable auditing. Once they have got the hand of this, then add a few extra plugins, then wow them with the video conferencing. Have the whole thing linked to AD and you're good to go in less than a day

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing access to file historically needs VPN's, VPN clients, in some cases BYOD and support, Next cloud provided a central file hub, with GDPR auditing and building on that, provided a good communications replacement.

  ### 34. Great self hosted Cloud

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuli V. | System Specialist, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Available everywhere and with every device. Nice integration to LDAP authentication and groups. Really easy to add needed enhancements. Good variety of enhancements available. Works nicely with Zimbra as authentication backend (LDAP).

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Sometimes mobile connection fails. Don't know if it's Nextcloud or network issue. After upgrading to 14, lost ZimbraDrive. Hoping to see it come back soon.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Easy to implement and customize. Easy to add plugins/3rd party additions.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I wanted to have all data to myself and have possibility to enhance the behaviour. Needed the place to share our Lions Clubs data and notes.

  ### 35. Private and simple storage cloud solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Nextcloud let us centralize key documentation for our sales team. When working with big projects that include several departments and lots of people, having quick access to our "mini private sotrage cloud" makes a big difference in our daily work lfe. Forget about Dropbox and go for a open-source private environment!

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

The front end could be more polished. Drag and drop could be improved. Furthermore, the Windows client doesn´t let you handle files and it is just for sync purporses. Cannot connect to Windows as a network unit (This would be a major plus, as it would work as a NAS). Still, it doesn't get to function as a sort of "Google Drive". Updating can be kind of tricky.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

If you are not looking for a wow-factor, and simple, real-time file sharing, Nextcloud can be the way to go. Try it out, as it can be of easy implementation and it is pretty well priced as well. Furthermore, it is 100% open source!

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When dealing with multi-party projects, access to the deal's informations is key. By centralizing all of our sales process docs within Nextcloud we've improved the way out teamwork flows.

  ### 36. Solid cloud storage and team sharing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

My sales team teleworks a lot. We are even slip in between two main cities, making real-time file sharing a must. Nextcloud has shown to be a great platform, and has responded with the right features every time we would need more space or further features. Powerful and simple cloud storage for small and medium enterprises.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Migrating files and working with big teams that are on-line 8x5 can be tricky. It is essential to make changes and big uploads on an out-of-hours schedule. We're still trying to find some files that went missing on out last big migration.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

If you are currently working with storage at a LAN level, forget about it! Try out Nexcloud and forget about the danger and risks of storing locally and working remotly.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real-time file updating. Inside sales follow-up. New Account Managers have fast access to newly assinged accounts. Documentation processes are way simpler!

  ### 37. May be suitable under certain conditions.

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Its accessibility, the fact that it is open-source software. It does its main job, which is to synchronize different data from various devices, mainly mobile, on one or more servers.

It is surely in a permanent development phase and it may prove to be very relevant in use in the near future.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

In replacement of another competitor, a team contacted us to use this service in our computer network to facilitate information sharing. We are rather skeptical about it, not really knowing what to think as we use the product within our services.

Another point, the service requires high-performance computers, it uses a lot of the machine's power, which can be a constraint for a company that does not have a high-performance computer fleet.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

Being open-access software, it can be an alternative for companies that do not wish to invest in heavy equivalent programs. However, be careful to check with the staff who will use it that everyone understands its functioning in detail, otherwise you risk wasting more time explaining and re-explaining certain features.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits are rather slim, as the various users within the editorial department did not all like its ergonomics, interface, or daily use. Others really liked the "open source" aspect and thus the lack of constraints like other major market players. Therefore, it is difficult for us to identify real benefits.

**Official Response from Jos Poortvliet:**

> Hello,

Thank you for your feedback! We very rarely receive negative feedback on the ergonomics of Nextcloud, which is consistent with what other market players do and easy to handle according to feedback from our clients. We would love to discuss this with you to better understand what bothered you. Could you send us a message at marketing-team@nextcloud.com? I will personally take care of your feedback.

Regarding the IT resource needs you describe, could you specify how many users were using the service? Nextcloud can run on very low-capacity machines like the Raspberry Pi, but, as with any software, it is advisable to set up an appropriate architecture if your instance hosts a large amount of data and users. Perhaps you simply had a configuration issue that impacted performance. Subscribing to our services provides access to optimal architecture recommendations for the size of your instance and gives you access to our team's expertise to avoid these problems.

Feel free to get back to me if you wish to better understand the problem you encountered.

Have a great day,

Nina, from Nextcloud

  ### 38. Good for sharing docs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Easy to share documents via email, links, or by adding them to a shared file/folder. It is easy to access. Safe way to share internal documents, powerpoints, videos, etc.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

Limited collaboration options. Not the prettiest or most functional UI.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure and safe cloud based sharing platform. Easier to have all documentation and information on one centralized platform.

  ### 39. Sufficient Storage

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Nextcloud?**

Nextcloud is easy to navigate and control. It's simple software.

**What do you dislike about Nextcloud?**

You used to be able to edit documents within the server, however, now you have to download and reupload. It also doesn't show you when the document was last uploaded, or by who.

**Recommendations to others considering Nextcloud:**

It's a great tool for storage of all files. You can restrict particular files/folders to any users.

**What problems is Nextcloud solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Organization and storage of all files.. has eliminated a lot of paper. It's also easier to protect information storing on secure servers rather than on individual computers.
