"Empowering Privacy with Seamless Sync and Flexibility"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

What I like most about Nextcloud is the freedom and control it provides. It really feels like it works for me, not the other way around. My favorite aspect is knowing that my data is mine, and I can decide where it is stored, who can access it, and how. This was a huge change for me after using bigger cloud platforms. There's a sense of trust and peace with this. I also like how flexible Nextcloud is. Over time, I didn't just use it for storage; I used it for contacts, file sharing, and collaboration. I appreciate how reliable it is day to day. Once it's set up, it just runs simply. Additionally, I like the community and the open-source spirit behind Nextcloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

The main challenge is the initial setup, especially for new users, as it can be a bit technical if you don't have experience with Linux or similar systems. Also, performance on weaker servers isn't great, with certain features like file preview and live document editing feeling slow. While once properly configured, it's fine, performance heavily depends on having a powerful PC. The interface could be more polished in some areas. Also, some apps in Nextcloud are not uniformly updated or well-documented; some are excellent, while others need more work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nextcloud: Freedom, Privacy, and Control Over My Data"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

What I appreciate most about Nextcloud is that it's free. I was previously a paying customer of Google One, but I decided to switch to Nextcloud for my cloud storage needs, using my own NAS as the physical storage. This change has worked well for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

The UI of the client on the Mac IOS client needs to be more polished, maybe its just me who is too picky on the looks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outstanding Open Source Cloud Solution with German Quality"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

This German open source cloud storage and collaboration system stands out for its high quality and the ability to host it on your own private server. The setup process is easy, especially if you choose third-party server providers like Good Cloud or Tab Digital. The platform integrates smoothly with Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, so you can access it from any major device. It brings together tools for working collaboratively on files, photos, calendars, tasks, contacts, and even email, providing a comprehensive solution for teamwork. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

The app does not recognize .heic images as photos, which is inconvenient. Additionally, when using a third-party cloud service, it is not possible to use the same account across multiple devices. Free accounts from Tab Digital are also limited to 8GB, which feels quite restrictive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ultimate Privacy with Powerful Customization"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

I love having total privacy control with Nextcloud; being self-hosted means no Big Tech is spying on my data. The auto-sync feature across all my devices is dead-simple, and the secure sharing with passwords and expiry dates is rock-solid. I enjoy the endless customization through 200+ apps, which makes it feel like owning my personal cloud empire. Secure sharing cuts down on sharing hassles while keeping my data locked tight, unlike cloud services that scan everything. The app customization allows me to transform basic storage into a full productivity hub tailored to my workflow, without any bloat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

Nextcloud has a few rough edges that frustrate me sometimes. Initial server setup is complex—takes hours of config tweaks, firewall rules, and SSL certs for noobs. Android app search is slow on large libraries, and occasional sync conflicts need manual fixes. Smoother mobile onboarding with better auto-discovery and faster search/indexing across millions of files would be great. Also, less aggressive battery drain during background sync would make it perfect! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Powerful, Private Alternative to Major Cloud Platforms"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

I really like the level of control and privacy that Nextcloud offers. Being able to self-host and manage data on my own infrastructure gives a lot of flexibility. The file sharing and sync features are reliable and easy to use. I'm also a fan of the plugin ecosystem and integrations, especially for things like calendar, contacts, and document collaboration. It's easy to extend the platform based on my needs, and the community support along with regular updates helps to keep the software improving over time. The API support and integration options are very useful, making it easy to connect Nextcloud with other tools and automate workflows, which fits well into an existing system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

The setup and maintenance can be complex, especially for non-technical users. Performance depends heavily on server configuration, and updates sometimes require extra care to avoid compatibility issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Empowering Self-Hosting with Top-Tier Cloud Features"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

One of the best things about NextCloud is the ability to self-host. This allows for data sovereignty while using excellent services on par with any other cloud service provider. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

Setting it up for a small group is difficult in the beginning. Ensuring all the users and roles are set up and all permissions are correct, takes time. I'd prefer if it had pre-made templates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Nextcloud?

I use Nextcloud for securing file storage, syncing files across devices, and sharing with my team. I like the control it gives over data and privacy. File syncing works reliably, sharing is easy, and the collaboration tools are practical without being overly complicated. The accessibility from anywhere and the ability to address data privacy issues are also big positives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An Excellent Open-Source Solution for Team Productivity"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

What I appreciate most about Nextcloud is the control and transparency it gives over data. Unlike many cloud providers, it allows full ownership of files while offering the same smooth collaboration features—file sharing, calendar, chat, and video meetings—all in one platform. Its open-source nature makes it highly customizable and secure, and the integration with on-premise storage is seamless. It’s a perfect solution for organizations that value privacy and digital sovereignty. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

Although Nextcloud is an excellent platform, its initial setup and configuration can be a bit complex for non-technical users. Performance may vary depending on the server environment, and updates sometimes require manual attention to avoid compatibility issues with plugins. The mobile app experience could also be more polished, especially in terms of syncing speed and notifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nextcloud: Powerful, Flexible, and Privacy-Focused—But Watch for Update Issues"
What do you like best about Nextcloud?

Nextcloud gives us full control over our data without sacrificing usability or collaboration. I especially appreciate how easy it is to integrate with existing infrastructure—LDAP, SSO, storage backends—and the flexibility to customize permissions and workflows across teams. The mobile and desktop sync clients are reliable, and the web interface is intuitive even for non-technical users. For IT admins, the logging, monitoring, and update mechanisms are transparent and efficient. It’s a solid solution for organizations that value privacy, scalability, and open standards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nextcloud?

While Nextcloud is powerful, some updates can introduce regressions or compatibility issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
