What do you like best about Mothernode?

What I appreciate most about Mothernode is its all-in-one structure that combines client relationship tracking and project workflow management, an ideal fit for our San Jose civil engineering firm. Many separate CRM tools only manage leads and force you to rely on dozens of auxiliary platforms for documents and task assignments. Our field survey engineers travel all over Santa Clara County for site inspections, and the stable mobile interface makes a huge difference. Several months ago, our team finished an inspection for Silicon Valley Land Partners and directly recorded site drainage restrictions, uploaded field photos, and created proposal tasks inside Mothernode before leaving the job site. Back when we used Zoho CRM, engineers had to save all notes locally and send files via email later. On one occasion, delayed file transfer caused our design team to miss key client requirements, almost resulting in a flawed draft proposal. I really value the highly customizable opportunity pipeline, which we adjusted to match our full workflow: initial consultation, site assessment, proposal drafting, client revisions and contract award. I can rapidly identify inactive bids that require timely follow-ups to avoid missing municipal submission deadlines. The integrated document storage attaches sketches, survey data and client correspondence straight to each project opportunity, so we no longer waste time searching disjointed shared cloud drives. The chronological activity timeline gathers every communication under the corresponding client profile. When public works agencies make sudden inquiries, any team member can pull up complete conversation records within moments. The native task automation and notification system also simplify our bid workflow. Once an engineer marks a site assessment complete, the platform automatically assigns drafting work to the design team and sends reminders. We also build custom reports for our biweekly operations meetings to track project progress. All these native features reduce redundant administrative labor and maintain clear visibility over our land development and infrastructure project pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mothernode?

First, the native reporting dashboard lacks sufficient customization for our industry-specific metrics. We want to track metrics such as proposal turnaround time, win rates for municipal bids, and site assessment scheduling cycles, but the visualization options are limited, and we cannot easily create layered dashboards. This forces me to export raw data into Excel every two weeks to prepare our operations review meetings. Second, bulk editing functionality is very limited. When we update standard bid terms or adjust follow-up timelines for dozens of developer opportunities, our team has to open each opportunity record individually to make modifications. This repetitive manual work consumes several hours that could be allocated to project coordination. Third, we face occasional delays when uploading batches of high-resolution site photos from field inspections due to limited batch file processing capabilities. Improved offline upload queuing on mobile would be a valuable upgrade. Additionally, Mothernode's integration options are limited, leading us to rely on manual workarounds for tools like QuickBooks Online, Bluebeam Revu, and Google Workspace, which sometimes results in data entry errors and scheduling mismatches. Finally, the initial setup required a significant time investment for tailoring the platform to our workflows, with data import challenges due to inconsistent field formatting from Zoho CRM.
