"MobileAction Makes App & Campaign Monitoring Easy for a Lean Team"
4/5
What do you like best about MobileAction?

I value how MobileAction simplifies app and campaign monitoring without forcing our small team to rely on specialized dev resources for routine checks. I’m Jungen Strausbaugh, Business Development & Operations Manager at Veridian BioLabs, an early-stage biotech firm based in Houston. My day-to-day covers business development, lab project coordination, vendor oversight, and vetting cloud tools that fit our preclinical research and biomolecule development work. Before we started using MobileAction, tracking our digital assets, keyword visibility, and public app presence was messy. We pulled disjointed reports from multiple separate platforms, and it was tough to get a single clear view of how our digital outreach performed alongside our research partner communications.

What stands out to me is its consolidated dashboard that brings app store intelligence, keyword tracking, and competitive snapshots into one space. I don’t need advanced technical background to pull meaningful insights. Earlier this quarter, I set up tracking for our informational partner-facing app that shares study summaries and research updates. I configured alerts for keyword ranking shifts, competitor listing changes, and review activity. All those notifications roll into the same interface, so I can spot shifts quickly and flag anything relevant for our business development lead. I was able to get all those monitors running independently, no extra engineering support required. That’s a huge win for us, since we don’t have in-house IT bandwidth to spare.

I also appreciate the flexible segmentation and alerting rules. We separate our tracking views for our public informational app and for competitor tools targeting similar research and biotech partner audiences. I can tune notifications so we only get alerted to high-impact changes, instead of being flooded with trivial daily fluctuations. This keeps our focus on updates that might affect how potential research partners discover our work. It helps us stay intentional with the wording and structure of our app listings as we roll out new study resources.

The reporting exports are straightforward for our internal reviews as well. I can compile snapshots of keyword trends and listing performance to share in our weekly operations sync. These reports help our team decide whether to adjust app descriptions, highlight new research resources, or refine the terms we use to reach academic and industry partners. It gives us concrete visibility instead of guessing how discoverable our digital assets are.

Webhook support adds another helpful layer. We can pipe key alert events over to our team workspace so relevant stakeholders get notified without everyone logging into the platform daily. For a lean biotech team balancing lab timelines, compliance requirements, and partner outreach, MobileAction gives us centralized app intelligence that’s quick to implement and maintain. It keeps our digital asset monitoring organized without bloated features built for large consumer app teams that would be irrelevant to our research-focused use case. What do you dislike about MobileAction?

The biggest pain point is that its core analytics and benchmarking features are optimized for high-volume consumer apps, so they don’t translate well to our low-traffic, partner-focused informational app. We aren’t chasing millions of downloads; we care about visibility among a narrow audience of preclinical research stakeholders. The default keyword suggestions tend to surface broad, high-competition consumer terms that have no relevance to biomolecule development or preclinical study partnerships. I spend a lot of time filtering out irrelevant suggestions and manually building our custom keyword sets, because the tool can’t learn our niche biotech focus on its own. Even after careful setup, ranking changes often have little context, and it cannot tie discoverability shifts back to partner inquiry volume or lead quality.

I’ve also found the compliance and audit trail functionality pretty minimal, which matters a great deal for our biotech environment. We need clear, immutable logs of any changes we review to our public-facing digital assets, since those materials reference our research programs. MobileAction captures listing change history at a basic level, but it doesn’t let us tag entries with review notes, store sign-off records, or export timestamped audit packages that align with our internal documentation standards. When our quality team asks for proof we reviewed and validated an app listing update, I have to manually capture screenshots and compile supplementary notes outside the platform. That adds another step to our review workflow.

Reporting customization feels rigid for our internal needs. The out-of-the-box reports center on download estimates, install velocity and conversion rates — metrics we don’t prioritize. I want to build simple recurring reports focused on competitor listing updates and keyword visibility for our target research audience, but the filter and grouping options are limited. Each month, I export raw CSV data and cross-reference it with our partner outreach log manually to assess whether our app presence is supporting business development goals. This manual reconciliation takes time away from lab project coordination and vendor management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
