**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franz C. | IT Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

What we like most of Microsoft Sharepoint is that it is an easy to use collaborative tool allowing multiple departments the capability to store and house their internal organizational portfolio. From documents, to files, folders, spreadsheets, powerpoint slides, tenders, calendars, community channels and document library features etc.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

The modern design i.e. Sharepoint classic is fairly outdated and could use with an overhaul of it's GUI.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to store documents in their internally allotted storage structure. To link and navigate to required files negating the need for users to store their files locally.

 ### 19. Experience with SharePoint

**Reviewed by:** SAHIL V. | Software developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I am currently working on this platform, and with four years of experience, I can say that it is excellent for internal security as well as for managing various types of projects across an entire organisation.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

My main concerns are with their limitations, such as the 5000 API issue and problems related to search API indexing.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem is with API 5000, and also with the features that have been deprecated. Please, at the very least, provide that functionality again, but with the necessary upgrades.

 ### 20. Effortless File Sharing and Smart Organization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel P. | Design Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

I use it nearly every day because it's easy to share files and create smart sheets or calendars to help keep track of things.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

The main downside is that its cloud based. If the internet goes out or if you're in a remote area, then no work is getting done.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collaboration with multiple people on one document.

 ### 21. Awesome collaboration and sharing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo M. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

One word: Availability, it is awesome how everything is connected to SharePoint, our forms for reviews, polls, IT, RRHH, Finances, even other apps can collect everything in one place, and using the integration with apps like Power BI, track whole SharePoint information, or specific information from each department or the whole company.

We are utilizing it in our inventory, change tracker, maintenance history journal, and helpdesk knowledge base, and this is only the beginning. We have more projects related to it; whole accountants frequently use it for the largest Excel and Power BI files that are usually integrated with other systems for collaboration daily or during high season and fiscal year closing.

The implementation was pretty easy for the basic usage, but the help of the customer support of Microsoft is really quick! For the guidance of my IT teams to learn how to extract the expert engineers from Microsoft, is not a live chat, but they call you asap.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

Well, sometimes it can be complex to understand the greatest features that we do not use.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File manager complexity and the disorder that this can create, also the ability to easily recover files recovery and if beneficial for the company, because even if geographically separate, we can collaborate and share the same platform.

 ### 22. SharePoint in Action: Supporting Data-Driven Research Enterprise

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane P. | Research Evaluation and Data Analytics Director, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

SharePoint is a valuable platform supporting my research support work, particularly in organizing, managing, and sharing documents and data across the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and MSU AgBioResearch. It is a centralized hub where our team can store grant proposals, compliance documents, internal reports, and research performance data in a secure, cloud-based environment. SharePoint’s integration with Microsoft 365 allows us to automate workflows, streamline approvals, and collaborate more effectively across our 15-person team. These features are especially helpful in supporting our mission to build a data-driven culture and report on the collective impact of research activities.

One key benefit is the ability to create structured document libraries with version control and customizable permissions, which helps maintain organization and data integrity. We also use SharePoint to host dashboards, survey results, and performance metrics, making sharing insights with leadership and stakeholders easier. This improves our ability to track progress, align with strategic priorities, and support evidence-based decision-making.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

SharePoint, however, does come with a few challenges. The initial setup and customization can be complex (especially setting permissions when linked to powerApps), especially for users without technical support. Its interface may initially feel unintuitive, requiring some training to navigate effectively. Managing permissions across multiple libraries and collaborators can also be tricky, and while the search functionality is powerful, it can be inconsistent if content isn’t well-tagged or organized. Despite these limitations, SharePoint remains a strong asset in our toolkit for supporting research performance, productivity, and impact.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SharePoint is solving several critical challenges in our research administration and evaluation work. It addresses the need for a centralized, secure space to store and manage a wide range of documents—from grant proposals and compliance forms to internal reports and research performance data. By enabling real-time collaboration, version control, and structured document libraries, it reduces confusion around file ownership and outdated versions. SharePoint also helps solve workflow inefficiencies by integrating with Microsoft 365 tools like Power Automate, allowing us to automate repetitive tasks such as routing approvals or collecting data. For research evaluation, it provides a platform to store and share dashboards, metrics, and survey results, making it easier to track progress and communicate impact. These capabilities directly support our goal of building a data-driven culture in CANR and MSU AgBioResearch by improving accessibility, organization, and collaboration across our team and stakeholders.

 ### 23. SharePoint: Excellent for Collaboration, but Setup Can Be Challenging

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

Microsoft sharepoint serves as a central file repository and source for our internal and external teams. It is great for collaborating and we frequently use it to store client data and to collaborate on SOWs. It was a great evolution for our agency who was previously using servers in the office for backup which were slow and not as reliable.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

Microsoft Sharepoint needs to have a proper strategy to make it easy to use. Initial configuration is time consuming especially when coming from older set-ups. Working with a certified expert helped make the process easier though.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A central place to collaborate on files in the cloud for easy secure access for files.

 ### 24. Just ok tool, seems well integrated but not super intuitive

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

The ability to serve as both an intranet, document storage and collaboration tool.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It serves as a centralized storage solution and search tool for documents inside our organization.

 ### 25. Effortless Real-Time Collaboration for Teams

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

It is a seamless way to work on files with colleagues at the same time.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

Only issue would be for users who are not very IT literate it may be hard to navigate/understand

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having files saved into the cloud and accessible even online and on the mobile phone when something is needed urgently

 ### 26. Powerful, flexible and getting better everyday

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sundaravalli A. | AI software Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

Microsoft sharepoint brings everything together in one place. Whether it is documents, team calendars, project updates or workflows, it creates a centralized hub that makes collaboration so much easier. I also appreciate how customizable it is, it can tailor sites to fit my team's specific needs, which helps keep things organized and efficient. Plus, the integration with other microsoft 365 tools like Teams and Outlook makes it feel seamless across the board.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

overall, sharepoint is a great platform, but if i had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the initial learning curve. Because it offers so many features and customization options, it can take a bit of time for new users to feel confident navigating and using it effectively. That said, once familiar with the layout and capabilities, it becomes a really powerful tool for collaboration and content management. I think with a bit more intuitive guidance or onboarding, it could be even more user-friendly right from the start.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

sharepoint really helps solve the challenge of keeping information organized and accessible across teams. Instead of digging through emails or different folders to find documents, everything is stores in one central place with version control, permissions and easy sharing. it also streamlines collaboration - multiple people can work on the same file without worrying about overwriting each other's changes. For me, that means less time spent tracking down files or clarifying which version is the latest. it also helps maintain consistency across projects and improves transparency within the team. The integration with other microsoft 365 tools makes it even more seamless so i can stay focused on the work instead of the logistics.

 ### 27. New Error of Collaboration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Moses C. | ICT Trainer & Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Microsoft SharePoint?**

That it creates a hub where anyone can be invited, even from outside of the organization, to work on something together.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft SharePoint?**

I was going to say that the SharePoint website is only available on the intranet, but then remembered that you can always acces SharePoint online. So nothing much at this point.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Company's all internal logistics runs via the SharePoint hub. All forms are now electronic with the integration of MS Power Automate, all links to employee portals, major platform to keep all files for business operations, etc.

**What problems is Microsoft SharePoint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our company we create own intranet site on the Sharepoint. Usage is not too high but it's okay, it's getting better

Our company has sites all across America, so using SharePoint allows us to work with and share items at the drop of a hat with other sites.
