So many people think they know CPM planning tools when they do not. Bugs constantly come up with the tool. It is so easy to lock up all calculations with a perceived circular logic. The highlight filter disables the record filter. The subproject feature has failed me on several occasions. Very troublesome to not have the subproject UIDs when viewing the mast project. Recommendations to others considering Microsoft Project & Portfolio Management: The server side of MS Project is still a poor product, Oracle P6 still rules in quality. Resource load, level and cost out IMS for management visibility and earned value tracking. Create extensive Schedule Risk Assessments (SRA) on key programmatic deliverables. Instill accountability for ownership on each task. Conduct status review meetings to maintain project momentum and for earned value updates submitted to finance.
