"A Flexible Workspace for Technical Notes and Project Documentation"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Microsoft OneNote?

What I appreciate most about Microsoft OneNote is the freedom to organize information without having to follow a rigid document structure. I can maintain separate notebooks for different areas of work, divide them into sections, and keep individual pages for technical notes, meeting discussions, implementation ideas, and reference material.

The free-form canvas is particularly useful when a note needs more than plain text. I can combine headings, checklists, screenshots, links, and tables on the same page, which makes technical information easier to understand when revisiting it later. Search is another practical advantage when I need to retrieve a specific detail from older notes instead of manually browsing through multiple pages.

Overall, OneNote gives me a convenient place to capture information as it comes up and organize it into something I can refer back to when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft OneNote?

The flexibility that makes OneNote convenient can also make larger notebooks difficult to maintain. Without consistent naming and section organization, related information can become scattered, and navigating back to a particular note takes longer than expected.

Formatting can also feel less predictable when I want pages to follow a consistent, formal document layout. OneNote works well for capturing and organizing information, but it is not always the best choice when the final output needs precise formatting. Synchronization and performance can occasionally depend on the device, network connection, or size of the notebook, so I would appreciate a more consistent experience across platforms.
