Microsoft Copilot is quite helpful during development. It offers useful code suggestions, and its autocomplete features noticeably improve the overall coding experience by making the workflow faster and smoother.
That said, there are some drawbacks. The models aren’t always accurate and can hallucinate fairly often, occasionally proposing incorrect logic or solutions. Because of this, I still need to verify what it generates and make manual corrections when necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Model accuracy: It frequently produces incorrect or misleading suggestions, so I still have to manually verify the output.
Hallucinations: It sometimes assumes certain APIs, methods, or configurations exist when they actually don’t.
Context understanding: It can struggle to grasp the broader codebase and will occasionally recommend fixes that don’t fit the existing architecture.
Overcomplicated solutions: At times it generates extra, unnecessary code instead of offering a simpler, more maintainable approach.
Inconsistent suggestions: The quality isn’t consistent and can vary a lot depending on how complex the task is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
