"I didn't know how to use this tool, but once I learned, I was impressed by its potential."

What do you like best about Maya?

I had to learn Maya for a job teaching it; although I came from a different 3D backgroundsp ecifically Blender I was impressed by how intuitive the creation process was. It’s a program with a unique pipeline that any 3D artist would find enjoyable. The modeling tools are so comprehensive that the workflow feels genuinely user-friendly, and the Arnold renderer and material system work seamlessly. I find it particularly great for hard-surface modeling that seems to be where it really shines. What I loved most is that tasks which often seem difficult in other programs like beveling, separating vertices, edges, and faces, or managing edge loops offer a multitude of control options, allowing you to achieve complex results with just a simple click. What do you dislike about Maya?

It’s a program with so many options that it can sometimes be overwhelming if you aren't used to it; achieving a highly defined, realistic render can also be difficult, and sometimes it takes a while to get the hang of it. However, generally speaking, you eventually get comfortable with it. That is the main reason I choose it over Blender its interface is more comfortable and visually friendly, whereas Maya can sometimes feel overwhelming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
