"Essential Tool for Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Research"

What do you like best about MAXQDA?

At ISDM, MAXQDA plays an important role in supporting our research team’s qualitative and mixed-methods analysis. We currently use single-user licenses, which allows multiple researchers to work independently on different projects while following a shared analytical framework. From a system and license management standpoint, the setup has been straightforward and stable, with no major technical issues during installation and activation. What do you dislike about MAXQDA?

Managing collaboration across multiple single-user licenses can be challenging, especially when researchers need to work on the same project. Project sharing and merging work is possible, but it is not as seamless as modern cloud-based collaboration tools. From an IT standpoint, more robust multi-user or team-based collaboration features would significantly improve efficiency and reduce administrative overhead. Additionally, some advanced features are not always intuitive, which occasionally leads to support requests that could be avoided with better in-app guidance or training resources. What problems is MAXQDA solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main problem MAXQDA solves for us is providing a structured, secure, and methodologically sound environment for handling qualitative research data. Our researchers work with interview transcripts, documents, and mixed data sources, and MAXQDA allows them to organize, code, analyze, and retrieve information in a way that would be difficult and inefficient using manual or fragmented tools. From an IT and administrative view, it also reduces the need for custom-built solutions or complex data handling workflows, as most research requirements are already covered within the software.
