**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

What I like most is the extensive selection of specialized toolboxes, especially Simscape Electrical and the Control System Toolbox. They make it possible to build high‑fidelity models of solar PV systems, including I‑V curve analysis and MPPT algorithm testing. Doing the same work from scratch in other languages like Python would be extremely time‑consuming.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

The software can be extremely resource-intensive, particularly when I’m running complex simulations in Simulink or working with very large datasets. On a standard laptop, this can translate into noticeable lag and long loading times, especially compared with lighter, compiled languages. I also find the user interface can feel cluttered when multiple figure windows and script tabs are open at the same time, which makes it harder to stay organized while working.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MATLAB helps me tackle high-complexity system modeling. In particular, I use it to simulate I–V curves for solar PV panels and to test MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithms under different shading conditions.

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

MATLAB is very easy to use, especially for mathematical modeling, data analysis, and simulations. The biggest advantage is how quickly you can go from an idea to a working solution without spending too much time on setup. The built-in toolboxes for machine learning, signal processing, image processing, and control systems save a lot of development time. The visualization tools are excellent and make it simple to plot, analyze, and debug data. MATLAB also has strong documentation and examples, which makes learning and implementing new features much faster.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

he main downside of MATLAB is the cost. Licensing can be expensive compared to open-source alternatives like Python. Performance can also become an issue for very large-scale applications if the code is not optimized. Integration with some modern development stacks and deployment environments is not as smooth as open ecosystems. While MATLAB is beginner-friendly, advanced customization and building large production systems can feel restrictive compared to general-purpose programming languages.

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

I use MATLAB for automotive and systems engineering work and I really appreciate how the accuracy and stability of the simulations give me a lot of confidence in the results. I love how seamlessly everything works together. The combination of scripting, powerful math functions, and Simulink feels incredibly efficient for real engineering tasks. I enjoy being able to build a model, adjust parameters, run simulations and visualize results in the same ecosystem. Switching to MATLAB allowed us to centralize most of our workflows, perform advanced numerical analysis, run system-level simulations in Simulink, and even automate repetitive tasks with scripts. The transition required some initial training, but the benefits were clear. The initial setup was relatively straightforward, and the team could start working productively within a few days. I would definitely recommend MATLAB to a friend or colleague; it's a powerful software with a lot of tools for everything.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

If there's anything that could be improved, it's mainly the performance with very large datasets or heavy simulations. The licensing system can also be restrictive, especially when switching devices or needing access outside the workplace. Faster loading times, improved memory management; large matrices and Simulink models can consume huge amounts of RAM. Licensing could be more flexible for individual engineers; it feels expensive, especially when toolboxes are required for very specific tasks.

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

MATLAB has an extensive support for various kinds of simulations. I primarily used Simulink for building prototypes of my electronic circuits involving operation amplifiers, FPGAs, transistors, and other power electronics circuits. Simulink had almost every component I needed. Moreover, writing code for solving mathematical equations, and also plotting the results is quite convenient. The syntax is easy to adapt for anyone with a modest programming background. The MATLAB community and customer support is quite responsive. The MATLAB public forums have answers to almost every question you are likely to face, and if not, new questions are promptly answered by the community members.

MATLAB can be computationally heavy to run on some computers. This is where MATLAB's online version comes in handy. Though it is limited in features, it is easy to use and has many of the basic/essential features.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

If your educational institute/organization doesn't have MATLAB license, it can be expensive to buy the license. MATLAB is a heavy application and its performance varies heavily based on the specs of the computer it is running on, specifically while running simulations libraries like Simulink.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MATLAB helps me with simulating electronic circuits, modeling self-driving vehicles, trying out different algorithms by simply dragging and dropping boxes. I also use it for plotting data, conducting Fourier analysis, and inspecting AC circuits.

Powerful for Numerical Computation – MATLAB is built for matrix and numerical analysis. Its syntax makes mathematical operations (like solving equations, performing linear algebra, or doing signal processing) very concise and intuitive.

Excellent Visualization Tools – You can easily create 2D and 3D plots, surface plots, and animations. It’s great for understanding data and results visually.

**What do you like best about MATLAB?**

It is an ALL in ONE tool. I honestly couldn't believe simulink is part of MATLAB and so easy integrated with MATLAB because of how different these two are. Simulink is definitely the best feature of MATLAB as it lets you carry out simulations super easy while defining the parameters of the simulation in MATLAB itself. I used it a lot for university and I still plan on using it.

**What do you dislike about MATLAB?**

It's very resource-heavy sometimes. I'm not sure why but when I have couple of scripts open, it takes too much of my 32GB RAM and lags out my entire PC. I don't think just having scripts open without running them should do that. It needs more improvements.

**What problems is MATLAB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It simplifies calculations, coding and simulations all at once. I'm an MSc. student and for all my projects, my first go-to program to use is MATLAB whether it is to finish my calculations quickly or automate a code or a process or simulate a system. It has really helped me a lot so far and will help me in the future as I will continue to use it.

It is very expensive especially when you need to use it as an individual and also sometimes the it lags when testing large scale applications.

Because we can visualise every equation that we solve,
I mostly use MATLAB for Civil engineering applications. i solve the Complex mathematical equations and plot them.
I when in Vcon Projects my last company used to cross check check the structural analysis.

MATLAB is a program based software. Which means we need to write a program or Code to execute the equations. Hence may be layman cannot use that product

It has a very rich help center where we get every help we need from tutorials, training and documentation on how to improve our design analysis experience. MATLAB makes it possible for us to run analysis on avery possible aspect about the design we have built in order to make sure we are giving the construction team just the optimum design that meets all the criteria and requirements. There are alot of add-ons available which makes it possible for us to use MATLAB to run the specific analysis that we need on our designs. Although the learning curve is a bit long, the user interface is very intuitive and it easy to engage with the tools that are there.

MATLAB is an advanced product and not very easy to use. Alot of training was needed for us to learn how to use it. The help center has been very useful in our learning journey.
