We tried everything to improve our activation rate. New layouts, simpler flows, moving buttons around. Nothing worked. At some point someone said "maybe it's the copy?" And I realized we'd never actually thought about copy as part of the product. It was always something that got filled in at the end.

Klysera found us a UX writer with a product background. That difference matters more than it sounds. She looked at every screen and asked what the user was supposed to do next, and whether the words were helping them get there.

Not "does this sound good", more like "is this doing its job."

Activation went up within six weeks. We didn't change the design. We just made the words work harder.
