What I like best about Jira is the visibility it provides into daily close and reporting activities. It helps me clearly track assigned tasks, pending issues, and dependencies without relying on follow-ups or emails. During month-end close, Jira keeps work organized, improves coordination with cross-functional teams, and ensures nothing is missed, which reduces stress and improves turnaround time.
What I like best about Jira is its ease of use and ease of implementation, which made it quick to adopt within close cycles. I use it with high frequency of use to track reconciliations, issues, and deadlines. The strong number of features supports task tracking, workflows, and reporting, while its ease of integration with other tools improves coordination. Reliable customer support further helps resolve issues quickly, making Jira effective for daily RTR operations.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Logging simple reconciliation follow-ups or late journal entries sometimes required navigating multiple fields, issue types, and workflows designed more for IT or project teams. This added time to raise and close tickets, and in some cases led to parallel tracking in Excel or emails for urgent close items. While Jira is powerful, the lack of finance-specific templates can reduce efficiency in fast-paced RTR cycles.
It can feel complex and time-consuming for simple accounting tasks. The number of features, while useful, can be overwhelming and requires training to use effectively. Initial setup and workflow customization are not always intuitive, and occasional performance issues can slow work during peak close periods. Additionally, reliance on configurations means limited flexibility without admin support.

Jira solves the problem of tracking and managing tasks, reconciliations, and close activities in an organized and transparent way. It provides clear visibility into pending actions, dependencies, and deadlines, reducing missed items and delays. This benefits me by improving accountability, streamlining coordination with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely completion of month-end and reporting activities, ultimately making the close process more efficient and controlled.
During month-end close, when multiple reconciliation breaks, late journal entries, and intercompany mismatches arose across teams, Jira helped log each issue with clear ownership, priority, and timelines. Instead of chasing updates over emails or calls, I could track status in real time and maintain a documented trail of explanations and resolutions.

This benefited me by reducing follow-ups, improving accountability, and ensuring nothing critical was missed, especially during tight close deadlines and audit periods.

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like that I can manage my full team in one central dashboard and see each team member's scheduled tasks. I also love the work backlog feature, where as a team, we can assess all tasks that arrive in. The centralized dashboard is essential because it can be shared with stakeholders and wider teams so they can fully understand my team's workloads and priorities and make informed decisions about creating new tasks. The backlog makes it easier for my team to review work submitted by stakeholders. Jira is a complex and key tool for our business. It is easy to set up, though there is a lot to learn, but that's not a negative.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I'd love if there were some kind of app for desktop iOS that provides a more intuitive way for time tracking on tasks a designer is working on. Currently, when a task is being worked on by a designer, they have to mark the task as 'in progress.' It would be great if this feature could also start a timer that the designer was able to interact with in order to stop and start the timer so that the team can gain valuable insight into how long specific kinds of tasks take to complete.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Jira to manage tasks for my team, track workload, and solve issues like team availability and task management with a centralized dashboard and work backlog feature, making it easier for stakeholders to understand priorities and for my team to review incoming work.

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I like how Jira integrates with Slack seamlessly, which eliminates the need to constantly check emails for assigned tickets, as I can now see them on Slack. I also appreciate that it helps in tracking tickets by allowing assignment with deadlines, which prevents any problems from going missing. Furthermore, setting up Jira was very easy, despite taking some time because we had to create multiple boards and epics.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

I need to copy the ticket link for the GitHub PRs, then I need to open that ticket. There is no button to copy the ticket link on the icon of the ticket. First, there must be a link copy to clipboard function in the ticket icon. Second, the ticket should be directly assigned to the current sprint as the ticket is created, but it doesn't.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira helps track client issues with deadlines, preventing them from getting lost or forgotten. Its seamless integration with Slack lets me see assigned tickets without checking emails, streamlining my workflow.

What I like best about Jira is that it gives my team one place to plan, track, and finish all our work, with clear boards and statuses so everyone knows what is going on, and we can easily see who is doing what, what is blocked, and how close we are to our goals.

For me, Jira mainly solves the problem of work being scattered and unclear, by putting all tasks, bugs, and stories in one place with clear owners, priorities, and statuses, so nothing is missed and everyone sees the same truth. It also fixes the usual confusion around planning by giving us proper backlogs, sprints, and boards, which makes it easier to decide what to do next and to spot bottlenecks early. Because of this, I waste less time asking for status updates, it is simpler to coordinate across dev, QA, and product, and our team can track progress and delays with proper reports instead of guesses.

**What do you like best about Jira?**

It’s the most flexible and customizable project management tool used by software teams. It’s easy to use and manage, and we can integrate it with 3rd-party apps for automation without much effort. It also makes it easy to track, record, and manage bug issues. There’s a large community and well-maintained documentation, which is especially helpful for new users. On top of that, the workflow and fields can be customized based on our requirements.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

The UI feels very complex for a beginner, and it takes time to figure out where things are. Overall, the app feels heavyweight, which makes it less comfortable to use. Support also hasn’t been very good, and it’s been hard to get helpful assistance when needed.

We use this tool for project management and for bug and issue tracking across our organization. We’ve integrated it with our SOAR product to automatically generate issues in JIRA and automatically assign them to the software team.

**What do you like best about Jira?**

I find Jira incredibly versatile and customizable, allowing it to become whatever I need it to be. It functioned as a good help desk ticketing system for an IT MSP help desk and had a good knowledge base integration. We were able to build out SLAs into tickets and have suggestions from the knowledge base populate for the techs. Transitioning from Microsoft Teams to Jira was simple and straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

It is very intimidating if you are not sure how to build out the program. There is a course to help explain how to use it. Just need to have some technical ability to really jump in.

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Jira functions as a versatile help desk ticketing system, CRM, and knowledge database. We could build SLAs into tickets and have knowledge base suggestions populate for techs, making it incredibly useful.

I like that Jira makes it easy to see collaboration between departments involved in solving tickets. The visibility aspect is straightforward. I also appreciate that I receive email notifications instead of having to consistently check the online portal. With Jira being cross-departmental, I can easily communicate with all related departments involved in a bug fix or project direction. It helps me know who to approach over TEAMS or in the office. Additionally, signing in is secure and easy to do.

Creating a subtask is a challenge and makes the site slower because it is heavier.

Jira has been our go-to tool for managing development sprints, tracking bugs, and keeping the whole team aligned on project progress. Its customizable workflows let us adapt the tool to our specific processes instead of having to change how we work. Being able to create detailed tickets, assign priorities, set due dates, and track progress in real time has made our project management much more efficient. I love that I can easily link tickets from different projects. It also makes it simple to track the status of each task in our day-to-day processes, and searching for tickets is much easier too. I don’t use the AI feature most of the time, but when I do, it’s really helpful. it integrates with applications and services outside jira quite well. Performancewise it has been reliable.

To be honest, I found it a little confusing to use when I was just starting out with the app. But after some time, and once you learn the ins and outs of how it works, it’s okay.

As a software tester, it helps me with issue tracking and development tracking. With Jira, I can easily filter and identify the most affected parts of our application, as well as see defect trends over time.

A great place to track and update issues either internally or having employees submit it to us. It's well integrated into many other systems and has fantastic reporting capabilities. It's endlessly customizable with many automations that can be used to get a good grasp of issue tracking.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

In the base format, it's really plain in terms of function but has so many words and options everywhere that it can really overwhelm users. Without full access, some queues are really hard to access making usage difficult and discouraging newer users from using it consistently

**What problems is Jira solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to ensure we track and complete problems that are flagged by both peers and employees. This allows us to track issues, track SLA, and provide responses to issue raisers without much manual intervention. The default reports is powerful too to help us summarize consistent issues.

**What do you like best about Jira?**

Jira is great at keeping work organized, especially when multiple people are involved. I like how clearly it breaks down tasks, tickets and progress, so everyone knows what thy are working on and whats coming next. What i like best is the flexibility. You can customize workflows, boards and issue types to match how you team actually works instead of forcing a fixed process. It really helps with planning, tracking progress and staying aligned , especially in fast moving teams.

**What do you dislike about Jira?**

Jira can feel overwhelming, especially at the beginning. There are a lot of features, setting and configurations, which makes the learning curve pretty steep for new users. Another thing i dislike is that it can sometimes feel too complex for simple tasks. Creating or updating tickets can take more steps than expected and if workflows aren't set up well, things can get confusing. It is powerful, but it doesn't always feel lightweight or beginner friendly.

Jira solves the problem of keeping track of work across teams and projects. Instead of tasks, bugs and requests being scattered in spreadsheets, chats or personal to - do lists, everything gets organized in one central place with clear priorities and progress tracking. For me, that means i can easily see what needs to be done, what is in progress and what is blocked without having to chase people for updates. It also helps with planning sprints, assigning tasks, and tracking deadlines, which makes collaborations smoother and reduces misunderstandings. Overall, Jira brings structure and visibility to work that might otherwise feel chaotic.

What I like about Jira is its integration with multiple tools like Slack, Confluence, Power Apps. 
I also like the Zephyr Scale part of this tool which helps with Testing various features on multiple fronts, be it UI/UX related or Data Engineering/AI processes that we work on. 

It's also a very highly used tool so that helps in getting newer people onboard as they are well versed with the overall JIRA interface.

I don't really dislike JIRA as such. Sometimes the UI may look a bit more complicated as opposed to competitors like Monday.com who make it too simple. JIRA strikes a good balance in most of the boxes and promises superior performance/real-time updates.

Improvements wise - I would want to improve the navigation of Zephyr Scale as we use it a lot and the UI can be a bit difficult to reach out if one is using Zephyr Scale for the very first time

Jira has become a performative tool, meaning that the rituals and performance of tasks are often seen by the micromanagers as more important than the actual work to be performed. In other words, it does not help anyone execute faster, but it helps the management level feel like they have control.  People often waste more time arguing about what type of issue, epic, story, task, etc. than actually accomplishing work as people like to claim 'ownership' of input and work rather than perform the actual work to be done. It keeps managers off my back, and it helps clients measure work being done. It benefits me when I can point the "checkers" at the work that has been done, though I often do the work and create the tickets to prevent the impediments of the unnecessary questions of "why are you doing that? I need to know what's happening!" because of fear, lack of control, or some other reason. I can get things done first that need to be done by anticipating the needs rather than waiting for someone to assign work late in the process.
