What do you like best about Invoisin?

We are a medium-sized Audit and Tax Advisory firm based in Cyprus, and we moved to Invoisin from another established invoicing and time-tracking platform that we had used for years. My main concern was preserving the history of invoices, clients, and time records that our accountant and our auditors need to be able to trace from prior years.

That turned out to be the part that impressed me most. The import brought across our clients, projects, time entries, invoices, payments, and even the original invoice PDFs, and it showed me exactly what it was going to create or change before anything was written. I could review it, run it again, and clearly see what had been updated. Nothing had to be re-entered.

Day to day, the things that matter to us are unglamorous, but they work: VAT is handled properly, invoices can be issued in more than one currency, we can generate statements of account to send to a client without editing them by hand, and exports to Excel and PDF are accepted by our accountant without questions. Our invoice numbering continued exactly as our books already ran, which sounds like a small thing until you are the one who has to explain a gap in a sequence.

Invoisin is even better because, in case of a cancellation of services, it creates a credit note as well. The previous program didn’t have that feature. It also creates a formal Statement of Account document that shows all payments and outstanding invoices at any time, and it can automatically email the client both the Statement of Account and a payment receipt. What do you dislike about Invoisin?

It is a new product, and you might feel that in the edges rather than the core. There are fewer third-party integrations than the larger platforms offer, so if your practice depends on a long chain of connected apps you should check that your particular ones are covered before you commit.

We have also hit small things along the way — some invoices displaying a status that did not match what had actually been paid, and numbering that needs more work to handle books organized by year. Both were dealt with quickly once raised, but I would rather be honest that we have been an early customer and it has occasionally shown. So far everything we asked for is quickly developed by the creators.

If you want a large vendor with a support desk and a decade of documentation, this is not that yet. If you are willing to talk to the people building it, you get a lot of influence over where it goes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
