Amazing platform that completely automates my business's finances **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2023 **What do you like best about Hurdlr?** Hurdlr completely automates my business finances and organizes each expense into an identifiable category, so I am always in the loop with my finances. On top of this, they generate balance sheets, expense/income reports, and general ledgers, which are very helpful for filing tax returns and working with my accountant. Their customer support is also A+, and they never fail to answer my question the day I ask them. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** I dislike the inaccuracy in the Expenses overview, which includes personal and business expenses. I don't get an accurate view of all of my money going out since it double counts bank transfers (from one account to another) as expenses, which skews the results since they are not expenses. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tracking my business expenses manually is complex and subject to human error. Regarding finances, I needed something that could track every dollar coming in and out of my accounts to have a clear view of my finances. Hurdlr goes above and beyond in providing that for me. ### 2. Initial tool for preparing a detailed budget with very successful functionalities. **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Marcos Antonio B. | Graphic Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2022 **What do you like best about Hurdlr?** - Good provision for on-the-go tracking via mobile phones - Accounts with the most relevant banking entities in the United States for account linking. - The interface of the platform is minimalist and at first glance easy to use, which gives the feeling of being very intuitive. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** - I miss some other banking entities for account linking such as Morgan Stanley, I hope that more can be added to the list later. - The simple fact of having a manageable interface does not mean that there are still no ways to make it accessible. in my experience I was able to achieve good results but the operational mechanics of this application took me a while to understand. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helped me take into consideration some aspects for structuring expenses that I had not previously contemplated. This application has a faculty of conviction for those who want to structure a very controlled budget. ### 3. It's easy to jump in from my phone, and fairly intuitive for small business owners/self-employed folks for simple, everyday use. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** I find the reports to be improving, but I still find them to be tedious. I'd love to see a report that breaks down each business we own, broken down by expense type and divided by months or even weeks. It would be even MORE amazing if I could just export everything to an excel spreadsheet in this format, as I usually copy and paste everything from my expense reports into a spreadsheet for my accountant every year. I know this isn't everyone's way of doing taxes, but it's been rather clunky for me. I am also not a fan of auto-tracking, there has to be a more intuitive method. I have a lot of expenses and miles that are not business related, and unless you drive uber it feels tedious to have to review all the miles you've driven and choose which ones are business related, and then go choose what the purpose was. We turn all auto-tracking off because we find it's actually easier to manually input, which defeats the purpose. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** I feel that Hurdlr is really trying to solve the manual tracking problem by enabling auto tracking of expenses and miles. However as I stated above, I am finding auto-tracking to be more tedious than helpful. ### 4. I can take photos of receipts with the app, and have it set to track my mileage automatically. It's constantly keeping aware of my tax liability so I can keep myself covered there. The data on the phone quickly syncs up to the Hurdlr website so I can review everything on a bigger screen. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** Though Hurdlr offers double entry accounting on a premium plan, some people may find it isn't a complete replacement for their needs compared to something like Quickbooks. For me, it's great and I only wish I found out about it sooner. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hurdlr keeps me informed about how much money I'm going to owe in taxes for each quarter. It also keeps me organized with receipts in the event of a potential future audit. ### 5. They give year end reports to assist with tax filing. They monitor your patterns and create rules for you to accept/reject to automatically tag mileage. They track your expenses out of linked accounts as well, so you can say if they are business or personal. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** It doesn't start tracking until the car has been moving over a certain speed (10mph, I believe) for a minimum amount of time, so approximately 1/4 mile is removed from each drive. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** It tracks my mileage automatically, so I do not need to remember to turn something on. It tracks my expenses out of linked accounts, so I can say if they are business or personal. ### 6. I need a clean, inexpensive, super user-friendly app to track my mileage and expenses. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** When I tried Hurdlr it felt like too much setup was involved. I've used quickbooks and mileiq for my expense and mileage tracker. I moved away from quickbooks due to the cost. I loved the idea that they were trying to create an app that could simply my expense tracking but theirs did not work well either and it was spendy. I ended up moving my financials to Wave Financial App and going back to mileiq. I pay nothing for wave and 5.99 a month for mileiq. I would consider making a switch and consolidating to one platform if it worked and was in the same price point. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Mileage and expense tracking. I believe it was introduced to me through the MLS. As I previously stated, I tried it but was not sold. ### 7. I also like the continuous update of profit or loss and the easy graph that shows you very quickly where you stand. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** I haven't found anything I just like so far. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Keeping track of every expense I spend. And keeping mileage expenses profit and loss all in one place. Being easy to use also makes me more likely to use it often. ### 8. The setup is pretty easy too. The receipts feature is another plus for me, it helps me stay on track and organized. The dashboard is suitable for tracking gives a great snapshot visually of progress. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** I'd like to be able to start invoicing from my phone as well as my computer. I would like it if they can introduce call method for customer support. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Hurdlr lets me separate my mileage and income from each. It helps me track my progress. It records all the expenses and keeps me updated on tax estimates. ### 9. This makes it much easier to track expenses on the go like in instances when I am traveling. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** I'm not a fan of the subscription plan, but can understand this is what they must do to stay profitable. I would much prefer a large one time expense to eliminate recurring expenses. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is helping me track my finances so I know how much I am really making at each quarter and how much I owe in taxes. Overall helps my business plan and ensures I'm operating profitably. ### 10. Taxbot frequently choked on correctly recording mileage. I've not had any issues with Hurdler and the ability to define what mileage is business or personal is very easy. **What do you dislike about Hurdlr?** Nothing yet. I've not had any problems with the program. **What problems is Hurdlr solving and how is that benefiting you?** Tracking business mileage has always been a challenge, mostly in remembering to actually do it.
