I value Hive’s flexible project views and simple no-code automation. We toggle between task boards and Gantt charts for utility infrastructure inspections, allowing both office staff and external contractors to view work in their preferred format. The automation alerts our team when contractors upload site photos and safety compliance forms, helping us stay on track for regulatory inspection deadlines. Hive’s custom form builder and task trigger automation are particularly valuable, enabling contractors to submit site inspection notes and photos, with automatic follow-up tasks and alerts. Hive’s mobile offline functionality is its biggest limitation for our utility field contractors. Many of our inspection sites have spotty rural cellular service, so contractors cannot fill out forms or update task status without an internet connection, which sometimes means writing notes on paper and re-entering them later. Its native reporting tools are also rigid, making it hard to generate custom compliance summaries, which adds extra admin work for us. Additionally, there's no native two-way sync between Hive and other tools like Google Workspace or our CRM, which requires manual data transfers and adds to our workload.
