"VDR-Grade Security and Deal Rooms, Natively in Microsoft 365"

What do you like best about Govern 365?

What I like best about Govern 365 is that it brings Virtual Data Room (VDR)-grade security and governance directly into Microsoft 365, allowing organizations to securely collaborate with external parties without moving sensitive data outside their own tenant. Because the platform leverages existing Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, and Information Rights Management, we were able to maintain full control of our documents, permissions, audit trails, and compliance requirements while supporting secure due diligence and investor collaboration. This approach significantly reduced complexity and strengthened our overall security posture.

From a business perspective, Govern 365 enabled us to quickly establish a secure and well-governed Deal Room for sharing confidential information with external investors and interested parties. The platform's seamless integration with Microsoft 365 meant our users could work within familiar tools while benefiting from robust access controls, audit logging, and rights management. The fact that data remains within our Microsoft 365 environment rather than being replicated into a third-party platform was particularly valuable. As we continue to evaluate the platform's newer capabilities, we also see significant potential in its SharePoint provisioning and governance automation features to further standardize and streamline collaboration across our organization. What do you dislike about Govern 365?

One area that presented some challenges in earlier versions of Govern 365 was the user access provisioning and external user onboarding process, which could occasionally take longer than expected when setting up access for multiple external stakeholders. Given the sensitive nature of our use case—sharing confidential information with investors and other interested parties—access controls were intentionally rigorous, but the provisioning experience sometimes required additional administrative effort and coordination.

That said, this was a relatively minor concern compared to the overall value the platform delivered. We have seen continuous improvements in the product, and the newer releases appear to include enhanced governance, automation, and collaboration capabilities. We are encouraged by the platform's ongoing evolution and look forward to evaluating the latest features to determine how they can further streamline user onboarding, external collaboration, and broader Microsoft 365 governance use cases. Overall, the benefits of keeping our data, security controls, and governance framework natively within Microsoft 365 have far outweighed the early provisioning challenges. What problems is Govern 365 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Govern 365 addresses a key challenge many organizations face: how to securely collaborate with external parties while maintaining full control of sensitive information within their Microsoft 365 environment. Prior to using Govern 365, organizations often relied on standalone Virtual Data Room (VDR) platforms that required data to be copied into third-party repositories, creating additional administrative overhead, governance concerns, and fragmented user experiences. Govern 365 solves this by providing VDR-grade security, access controls, auditability, rights management, and external collaboration capabilities natively within Microsoft 365, leveraging SharePoint, Entra ID, and Microsoft Purview.

For our organization, the biggest benefit was the ability to establish a secure Deal Room for sharing confidential information with external investors and interested parties while keeping all content, permissions, and compliance controls within our own Microsoft 365 tenant. This allowed us to simplify administration, reduce security risk, maintain complete visibility through audit logs, and leverage existing governance and information protection policies rather than creating a separate security model. The platform also improved the overall collaboration experience for internal and external stakeholders by providing a structured, well-governed environment for sensitive transactions. Looking ahead, we see additional value in Govern 365's provisioning and governance capabilities, which have the potential to help standardize SharePoint site creation, improve consistency, and further strengthen Microsoft 365 governance across the enterprise.
