  ### 3. A Marketeers Dream For Launching Tools Without The Need For A Developer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie M. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager (GTM) allows you to launch most tools on your website with the click of a few buttons and without the need for a developer. Whether you're looking to track users around your site or install a pop-up banner, GTM lets you quickly and easily add code to your website. What's more, all code is stored, managed and loaded via GTM, meaning that it doesn't slow your website down.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It does take some getting used to and many of the advanced features are beyond the typically understanding of a marketeer. Whilst there are lots of online resources, advanced features do take some learning. There is the need for some development and the more advanced you get the more your development team need to get involved to ensure that data is being parsed (so that GTM can detect it and parse it onto the tools that you're using) and that conversions are being tracked - unless you can track a conversion with a unique URL, you'll need to install custom tracking event codes into the back-end of your website and ensure that buttons are correctly named with classes.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

It's a no brainer, just prepare yourself for the implementation and ensuring that your website is setup so that you can track events with custom class names and conversions.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

GTM enables marketeers to be dynamic and test new tools and techniques. Easy implementation means that you can get up-and-running very quickly and trial new experiences. The more advanced features of GTM allow you to get granular with tracking and customisation of your website without the need for advanced setups from development.

  ### 4. Free. Simple. Powerful

The fact that it's free is great. Google has done a great job with providing a powerful tagging tool with simple UX.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It's beneficial to come with at least a basic understanding of coding or being able to diagnose it.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Understanding the flow you want for tag firing is important.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing load time has been very important and GTM has helped with that. One area to manage tags has been amazing and the fact that we don't need IT has been extremely powerful.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

The thing I love about Tag Manager is that it has many common tags available already. It is very simple to use, and you don't end up having tons of extra code all over the place. We handle hundreds of websites for clients and Tag Manager makes it very easy to keep all the tools and tags we use centralized and easy to edit or implement.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

There really isn't much I don't like about it. Though I will say the new Global Site Tag that google has come out with made things a little confusing at first along with the converter tag they just implemented also.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

If you're using tons of software, have a lot of goals in your analytics software, or just have a lot of tags that need to be implemented - start using Google Tag Manager. I'm telling you, it makes things very simple to manage, updating tags is a breeze, and your code ends up looking a lot cleaner in the end.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use heatmaps, conversion tracking, analytics software, a/b testing software, and on and on. It can be a pain trying to keep track of all this code. Google Tag Manager allows us to keep things dead simple in a single place. It really helps us stay on top of new and existing campaigns we run on various websites with very little overhead needed to get things up and running.

GTM essentially acts as a floodlight so in the source code you just see that GTM is on the page. This isn't a huge ordeal as you can sign into the profile and see which tags are present, but it was nice to be able to search for native tags within the source code on the fly when not using GTM.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

You need a developer to set it up for you

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us track our business analytics

  ### 35. Essential tool for digital marketers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager enables you to add tags/snippets/pixels to one bucket instead of continuously needed to update the code of your website. It's simple and effective.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It's almost a bit too simple -- stripped down to the core. It could have an easier learning curve.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to track all kinds of actions and variables from our many marketing platforms.

  ### 36. Should be called Google Tag Developer

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Single interface to manage all kinds of analytics and tracking code snippets.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Incredibly complex to set up and manage. Very easy to misconfigure and lose track of what's enabled and what isn't.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Not for the faint of heart. Usually easier to just add tag snippets via your CMS.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analytics and visitor tracking.

  ### 37. Googl Tag Manager Saves Lots of Time

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin A. | Director of Technology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I like that we can create different containers for different websites, landing pages, and applications, containing the different tag and pixel configurations. It provides easy access to test and make changes as needed.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The UI isn't as friendly as most of Google's solutions. However, it is not aimed at a completely non-technical audience so that can be forgiven.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Use it. It is a great resource to make sure you begin to remarket.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google tag manager allows to manage our remarketing and retargeting tags and pixels in one convenient location.

  ### 38. Google Tag Manager Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica B. | Marketing Specialist, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager is a robust tag implementation code with the ability to streamline the installation and management of all tags on one site. I love how quick and easy it is to make changes.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I dislike the preview tool, I firmly believe it needs an update.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

GTM is the future.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to install tags without bugging the customer. The benefits are endless, but a major benefit is time management and ease of use.

  ### 39. One of the best options for ease of implementation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Ability to have so many tag options and the dashboard customization.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Having multiple users at an enterprise level is cumbersome to setup the correct shareable view.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking event based actions in a mobile app

  ### 40. Invaluable resource for customer analytics

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Publishing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I like that we can tag anything on our websites and get custom clicks for usage to help us with our development.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The naming conventions are somewhat confusing and hard to keep straight.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our developmental roadmap depends on these analytics and also our user experience development is constantly tweaked depending on these analytics.

  ### 41. Great Tag Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google tag manager allows our sales and marketing teams to define their own analytics and integrate them without developer help. This speeds their time to market with metrics and reduces work for our Dev team.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Google tag manager doesn't work in every situation. At times App Dev has to get involved.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time to market with custom metrics, as well as short term (life) metrics are gathered without the help of App Dev.

  ### 42. Makes tag and code management much easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin H. | Director of Customer Acquisition, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Super simple to manage a wide range of tags and especially to set up conditional triggers

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I do wish it was a little easier to combine multiple rules for when certain tags should fire

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly being able to deploy tags to our site and turn them off easily

  ### 43. Unified Google Analytics & Facebook Pixel Tracking

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vert H. | Executive Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Having both our Google Analytics code and Facebook tracking pixel in the same place for easy management and implementation on our website.

Managing these codes within a unified platform instead of customizing them in different places.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager has an incredible depth to its functionality, but in order to unleash its more advanced usage, a lot of research/training/tutorials will be required, especially with advanced Google Analytics features. It can get technical really quick but most likely you will only need to learn what steps are needed in order to enable the functions you need and never have to re-visit. (Unless of course you need to change things around, but for us we never really had to go back and fiddle much)

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

There are a lot of Google Tag Manager/Analytics gurus who have blogged about various advance uses of Google Tag Manager, chances are what you'd like to achieve with Google Analytics can be taken to the next level with GTM. Try searching around for a tutorial, you'll be amazed.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not being a web developer or software/IT engineer, implementing something as simple as Google Analytics tracking code can be a daunting task. Same goes for Facebook tracking pixels, which by the way is the key component to any successful Facebook marketing efforts.

Google Tag Manager aims to provide solutions to the likes of us by incorporating both (and any other website tracking mechanisms) into a few lines of code to place in the website, and management of all tracking codes within the Google Tag Manager UI for greater ease and simplicity.

  ### 44. In short, we love it.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Google Tag Manager is a user-friendly solution that allows us to easily send information to our data crunching hubs about our website and SaaS web app.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

It can be a steep learning curve for noobs

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google Tag Manager makes it easier to implement some of the more complicated Google Analytics features, such as User ID tracking. Providing accurate data which ultimately helps our business and our users! It’s a win-win.

  ### 45. Great Solution to Tag Mangement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Morgan B. | Lead Digital Marketing Strategist, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I don't have to inflate my website or header with a bunch of extra tags.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Learning curve is steep if you dont have a development background. Google's documentation wasn't great for learning either.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

There's a wealth of YouTube tutorials and articles to help you learn out there.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's an easy and centralized way for me to keep track of tracking tags for a lot of products I use. It's also enabled me to free up time for my developers because I am able to implement some more technical changes on my client sites without tehir help.

  ### 46. fast and easy to set up custom tracking

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Collin B. | Lead Web Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

It was very easy to set up ID's that can track button interactions (social interactions, custom menus, exits links)

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

Unless you are familiar with tracking, a user will need to read examples or implementation guidelines.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a menu that sorts a list a grid to show/hide content.

  ### 47. Amazing free product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bobby S. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

Even if you're a coding wizard, GTM is still the best solution for installing pixels and javascript on a site.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I'd like to be able to turn tags on and off. There are some I only want in certain months and don't want them firing and slowing the site down.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Use it

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving conversion tracking with GTM.

  ### 48. A Great Tag Manager for All Your Webside Add-On Codes

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I wish there were more pre-defined options to add tags for website codes.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need to have to update multiple web pages with codes when changes happen or change.

  ### 49. Very Pleased

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

I like the ease of use and organization of the tool. Makes tagging really easy for all the multiple products that we have to keep all in one central place.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

I do with that there was a way to get a central ID to help make sure that we can keep naming consistent across all our markets.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping up to organize our tags and keep them central.

  ### 50. Steep Learning Curve - Gets the Job Done

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase W. | Senior Director of Digital Marketing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Google Tag Manager?**

This product is free and offers as much or more functionality than the majority of the paid solutions out there.
I like what you can do with it. The possibilities are almost endless as long as you can think up how to implement it.

**What do you dislike about Google Tag Manager?**

The support (since it is a free product) is fairly minimal. The documentation is excellent but you are pretty much on your own to make things happen and check errors.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Tag Manager:**

Learn and understand what you can before implementing GTM on your live site.

It's a great way to consolidate your tags and fire them in the order you would like.

**What problems is Google Tag Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our website was really slow because we were firing so many tags for all of our tracking needs. Now we fire one (GTM) and it doesnt slow down our site. Increased website speed and less downtime.
